I love the concept of a fitness ring, as I have a collection of watches. The ring was great for about 6 months, and then the battery life was reduced to less than a day. I contacted customer service and they were great, and replaced the ring within about a week, and the new one is great, My biggest issue has been with the the app. It disconnects from the ring regularly and often has difficulty re-syncing without rebooting my phone. It gives the ability to edit activity (it guesses what you were doing), which is great, however it often reverts back to its original activity and sometimes you have to edit the same thing 3 times. In summary, it's a great concept, but a work in process which I believe will get better with time and I intend to hang in there.

I've used motiv for about a year and am happy with it. There are issues especially when an update to the app is done. I've been able to work thru those issues (not syncing is the worst one). Overall I would recommend with caution. You have to be patient with manual sync, be especially patient. The one thing I have learned to do when the ring doesn't sync is to restart my phone and charge it at the same time the ring is on the charger. Put the ring on the charger first and then restart the phone and charge so that both are charging at the same time. It's kinda a 'hit-or-miss' deal, but for the most part it's been working for me for a while now.

The hardware is sleek and well built. Yet, the software repeatedly stops sync, even if you try to force one by rotating the ring. The light in the ring will go on, connects to the software, circles, and then "try again." I have only been successful if I force quit the app and open again. Thus, the software for Android is terrible and not useful. The information provided in the software is just plain too simple. I don't know if the ring supports more features, but info is scant and limited. The interface is confusing with the big circle measuring "something" which I have read about in the FAQs and still makes no sense as to why it would be useful to me. Nice gadget. Ended up in some drawer; I gave up. After 4 months of this nonsense. Buyer beware: 200 bucks wasted.

The ring does everything it says it does. The app... has a few problems. Primarily, that it randomly decides to stop updating from the ring for no reason I can work out, and requires being manually desync'd, and resync'd. Which may or may not involve you losing hours/days of data depending on how long it takes for you to notice. Over all a positive experience, with some clear room for improvement.

I enjoy the ring when it's working, but it has quite a bit of issues with sync that makes it annoying. spinning it for 2-3 minutes to try and trigger the sync is bad enough, when the app doesn't update after it's worse. Usually you can resolve by turning Bluetooth off/on, or restarting your phone, but it's pretty annoying. I've also enabled 2fa integration, and as far as I can tell the ring pairs with my computer, but it fails to send the command to the service. Entering the code manually works

Great Idea, but not great execution. I love the ring, but struggle so much with the app it's starting to feel not worth it. I've had the ring about 8 months now. It's taken a beating and I'm pretty sure it's still functioning properly, but without the app working to see the data its kind of pointless. Update- the app continued to have issues every after customer service "fixed" my issue. Now the app seems to have erased my profile and has an error every time I try to make a new one. Useless.

The app isn't bad but I have noticed a few recurring problems. First, after the battery gets critically low, it is impossible to get rid of the "critically low" notification. It never goes away, even when the ring is already recharged. The only way to reset it is by force stopping the app. Another problem is, editing the activity often throws an error and it will then also only start editing after force stop. Those two are pretty annoying.

While the ring is great (small size, good neutral/stylish looks and fits well due to the system with sizing set before order), the app is "good but buggy". Android support is patchy; they have a (short) list of specific devices on their web site that they support, and while mine runs a no-frills, no-bloat version of regularly-updated Android, it's not on the list. Thus (?) I frequently experience bugs. Workouts entered will frequently just disappear, the notification for critical battery level won't always go away after charging, and after updating to the latest version of the app, it first stopped working altogether - necessitating a temporary move to my work iPhone, which in turn caused all my data to be lost (to which support gave me the advice to log out of my old device - which was impossible at the time). After another update it did start working on my Android again, with all my old data back, but the data from the week on iPhone was lost. However, if they could iron out all the bugs, and widen support to given versions of Android instead of specific handsets, this would be a great app for its purpose. Interface is clean and simple and it has most of the features I want.

This is such a great little ring. I hated wearing a big bracelet, and yes, I had tried the smallest version of them. I wanted something I could wear and not think about, or something that wouldn't clash with my jewelry. This did the trick! The reason for 4 stars---sometimes I have to put it back on the charger if it isn't syncing with my phone, not often, but annoying at times. Also it doesn't have a period tracker like fitbit does, so I have to have yet another app for that. It would be really great if they figured out a way to switch you ring colors and styles without having to buy another ring.

I really wanted to like this ring. It's comfortable and doesn't get in the way like a wrist tracker. However, it constantly stops syncing and won't resync unless I disable and re enable my Bluetooth, then spin it twice. And while the app is pretty, it's seriously lacking in functionality when it comes to looking at my history. It also doesn't sync sleep or step data with Google fit, only heart rate. So I can't even look at my history there.

The application is not as stable as I would like. It requires me to stop and restarting quite often for syncing to happen. Recently it will not sync if my phone is connected to WiFi. Editing and adding activities is clunky and difficult. The slider window is a f**king disaster.I would rather enter time manually. Yeah it works, but not as well as it could, If I were a developer on this I would be a bit embarrassed.

Only issue I have is that in order for the ring to auto sync, it must be the only device connected to the phone. I have a smartwatch connected to my phone's bluetooth at all times. Because of this, I have to force stop the Motiv app and then manually sync my Ring. I contacted support about this issue back on April 16, I sent a diagnostics report. They were unable to resolve my issue. Their response was "I'm afraid both [watch and ring] cannot be connected to [the phone at] the same time. However, can you try to connect the ring on its own when wanting to view your data? You can disconnect it during other times of the day, that shouldn't affect the data sent to the phone." If the auto sync worked when other devices are connected to my phone, I would give this app a 5 star rating.

The ring is pretty cool and the app needs a lot, but without the app the ring is just a ring! I can put the ring into sync mode just fine, but there's no way I can tell the app to refresh without rebooting the entire phone. Also, if for some reason it doesn't detect sleep, I can't add it. The only thing I can add or alter is an activity.

Since the update on 3/6, I have to unpair and repair my ring in order for it to sync. Otherwise, I open the app and it just says try again and has 0s for all my stats. Very annoying. The app version previous to this was sketchy at best, but now it doesnt work unless I go through a bunch of hoops. Ridiculous. My Fitbit never had a problem syncing and the app always worked fabulously. I should have stuck with them since I had 2 different Fitbits and never had a problem. 🙄😡

Easy to use and I enjoy using the technology that Motiv seems to be leading the industry in. My only problem is that some of the time the ring will simply not synch or allow me to record any of my recent data (the data is just not there). And it sometimes asks me to spin the ring on my finger to synchronize it. Well, I spin it for minutes before I feel it is useless. I assume it shouldn't take 4+ minutes of spinning to work properly. Without these synch issues, I would give 5 stars.

I really want to like this product and I don't like giving 1-star reviews, but the company must be going out of business. Support has vanished. I'm now on my 2nd defective ring (in warranty) and am getting no response. The app also has constant issues, especially with syncing. In terms of software features, the app is bare bones and they haven't added anything in 2 years. This product (ring + app) is so far behind competitors like Fitbit and shows no signs of maturing. Look elsewhere.

11/5 Update. After working well for a few days, the app and syncing with the ring has degraded. Battery life will not show. Manual sync has stopped working. Since my phone is not officially supported, I'm only dropping it down to a 2. I would drop it to a 1 if my phone was on the supported list. This app has work flawlessly for me after a little struggle getting the ring paired with my phone. I'm even using an unsupported LG V30. Unfortunately the app functionality itself is extremely limited, especially considering the rich number of features included in the iOS version. I'm on the fence as to whether to return the ring because of the app limitations. 5 stars for being bug free so far, 2 stars for the app features for a 3 star rating overall.

The ring itself is great. I love the slick design and i get complements on it all the time. However the app is horrible. My ring tries to sync but the app won't work. If i connect to any Bluetooth device on my phone the app stops syncing. I have to turn off Bluetooth and it back on again. Spin my ring and then the app will work. Lately if i want it to sync i have to do that no matter what. Also, please work on syncing to my fitness pal, not just Google Fit.
