Motocaddy GPS

It's a little hit and miss. A bit fiddly getting it paired. But when it connects its accurate enough to reliably use. Just don't keep your phone in your pocket and walk away from the trolley :) The problem I experience is how long it takes to update and display the correct yardages. I find myself glancing at the 100 and 150 yard markers too often to check if the yardage on the trolley looks 'right'. Using the app on its own (without connecting) is simple, easy and accurate to use. 5 stars there.

As others have said, the latest update of the app is a disaster!! I have now worked out that the yardage will update "on the move" as long as the screen is live and the app is open. Basically, the app no longer runs/works when the phone goes to sleep. Waking and unlocking the phone every shot is not practical as you will agree, especially as you have to wait for GPS and yardage stats to update. The app also no longer changes hole when you move on, regardless of the phone and app being active. If you walk from the 1st to the 2nd hole you just get further and further from the 1st. Didn't ever use the app during a round but got very reliant on the front, middle and back yardages the trolley provides when paired with the phone, idle in the bag. At least roll back to the previous version while you redevelop the app and get it working again.

I have tested a number of apps and I have found that Motocaddy to be the best (and no I do not work for Motocaddy). The layout of the courses are good and the colours make it clear and easy to see. You can move the distance locator easily to see distance to trees/bunkers etc. The yardage is accurate and easy to see. The shot distance being blue is sometimes hard to see in bright sunshine. The scoring page is simple to use as is the score card. My one criticism is that you can not save your score card, once you end the round you have lost your input! Fix this and I would give it 6/5 :)

I like the new layouts, i like the option for fairways and greens hit. But unless you stop on the green you have just completed to record the data its to difficult to enter it in, due to the fact that whilst trying to record your score for the 1st while standing at the 2nd tee box it just jumps to the next hole. I will select hole 1, start entering said data, it then jumps on to 2. Scroll back, quickly add another shot only for it to jump back to hole 2 again. The whole process is frustrating

Like others I bought the motocaddy s5 for the gps feature, it worked fine until.the latest upgrade of the app which has been nothing short of a disaster!.... it is difficult to pair up, yardage does not change on trolley as you walk down fairway, even when you get to the ball it does not change until you refresh the app on your phone, it's totally unreliable and not fit for purpose. The trolley itself is great if a little expensive without the reliability of a working app .. sort it out motocaddy

Used the app as a stand alone on my phone for over 12 months without a problem and was generally very pleased. However something has happened over the past 2 months. When I attempt to open the app it kicks me out every time. Tried clearing cache and data, it works once and kicks me out every subsequent time. Not great Motocaddy, please sort ASAP!

Used to be seamless.. But now I'm having similar issues to other users.( motocaddy 5s connect) 1. When I try to connect to trolley device not found. ( Have to delete current device then try again) it's suppose to remember me and auto connect. 2 need to leave the app open and screen open for entire round, move off the screen for any reason and it doesn't work (It did for nearly 2 years) ps all my phone settings are correct. Frustrating!

This app is very good except for 1 issue. When using the SHOT to measure distances, it turns the display blue which makes the display virtually impossible to see in any kind of bright light. It would be great if they could just leave the display white or some bright color.

Absolute joke, the app won't stay communicated with the trolley and says out of range or loading every 5 minutes. In the end I gave up with it and next round will go back to my old GPS watch. That is 2 rounds at different courses this has happened now and what was once a really good piece of kit is now useless. Sort the app out Motorcaddy or give me my money back!

Like everyone is saying. Spent more money than I wanted for the GPS. Since new update its been awful, it either doesn't pair or as many have said it won't change distance on the move. No point if you have to keep opening your phone and resetting. They are lucky to get 1 star 😭 ***update since 2nd July, new update and now it won't connect to phone keeps saying Bluetooth not enabled. Very poor

initially it connects to the trolley but after one hole it loses the Bluetooth connection even though my phone is two feet away in my bag. takes its time to reconnect but sometimes i have to unplug the trolley battery to reset. just as well I've kept my Golf pad app which works perfectly. Distances on the motocaddy app seem accurate, when it works. i wouldn't bother with the app or the M5 Connect trolley. it's not worth the money. Buy the M3 Pro and use a suitable app on your phone.

Does not work with M5 Connect trolley, rendering the GPS function of your very expensive trolley useless! The yardage will only show what the phone said last time the screen was on. I now have to unlock my phone, and wait for the app to refresh every time to get the yardage, which then goes to the trolley screen. This defeats the point of having the yardage on the trolley when you have to look at your phone anyway! App should be continuously running in the background and updating trolley!!!

Installed this App (Android 7.1 phone) . Loading and pairing was easy and immediately the hole 1 information was displayed on the M5. I recommend that you keep your phone with your trolley (and USB connected if you want to keep the mobile battery topped up), because the Bluetooth connection breaks and is slow to reconnect. 2D maps are better than 3D. IMPORTANT Following July 20 upgrade screen went blank. Press L+R buttons 10 for secs to reset.

I bought the S5 connect for the GPS facility. Big mistake! The distance onky refreshes every 60 to 90 metres. Completely useless. I have to reky on my Garmin watch, for accurate distance. Garmin continuously counts down the distance. Do not but this trolly if you are looking for accuraye GPS information. I complained to Motocaddy, but they fobbed me off by saying the probkem was with my phone. Other GPS apps work perfectly fine.

Don't bother. Loses connection with the trolley, states Out of Range and does not reconnect when you walk back to the trolley, app crashes back to home screen so timing a round is impossible, measuring shot crashes out so does not work. Tech support say it is my phone at fault and some setting on my phone is causing my issues. Same problems on Samsung S7, S9 and Huawei P20Pro, so having been through all the possible settings i don't think so. Does not work and causes frustration so ruins a round

Loses connection regularly, phone has to be unlocked and in the cradle for it to work, doesn't move on to next hole have to do it manually. Anyone else having problems keeping score.? I add my score, save it and it adds it to the next hole and removes it from the previous one. Interesting that Motocaddy are not replying to anyone's negative feedback and it's been over 6 months since the last update.. C'mon Motocaddy get your act together.. ** now won't connect to device at all. Useless **

The new app is terrible. The original app auto advanced no problem this one will only advance after you input a score. It also has to be rebooted after a short stop on the fairways cos it won't follow you as you get closer. It also stops working if I close my screen off. I also have problems trying to find my past scorecards.

It still won't pair when you select a course and then press the "pair" button however it will when rather than selecting a course, I select "my devices" and pair from there. I've done this 3 times now so it feels reliable-ish. (I use the Android app on Samsung S10 to connect to my S5).

It works. Eventually. Faultless for the last 3 rounds, after being sent a fix that works. I'll occasionally add a star if it continues to operate properly. Five stars now. App developers: next time you get reviews that say your app isn't working, fix it there and then!

Hopeless and a waste of time! I want to concentrate on my golf and what yardage to hit, but having to unlock phone and resset app every hole or during one becomes very frustrating and annoying to the point where I don't use it and go back to my Bushnell lazer! Get a powacaddy, friends have them, bigger screen on trolley and works perfectly , thinking of selling my motocaddy connect and taking the hit and putting money towards a powercaddy! Sort it out motocaddy!

App doesn't pair, customer service is rubbish. Trolley stopped connecting to my phone a year ago and I was told this was an issue with my new phone. Didn't use in pairing mode for a whole year until now. new phone,same problem. Contacted support to be told by supervisor that Trolley is 7 months out of warranty so it's chargeable to fix. Just tried with my ipad and works straight away. Tried android again and app gets stuck on pairing screen. I had 3 months of use out of it and now useless.

Great app before update. Now the app shows nice pictures but does not auto advance to the next hole. Constantly freezes on different holes so I have to keep pressing next hole and then go back to get accurate yardage. Using Samsung S8 and have deleted the app. Costly S5 connect trolley without the use of connect.

Great app. Easy to use and accurate. My only issue is I can't read the "shot" distance reading as it is blue and can't be seen in bright sunshine... a different color readout would be nice.

They really need to sort out this app. New update needed ASAP. Phone does connect to the trolley but I have to unlock my phone every time I walk to my ball to get the yardage. I bought this trolley for the use of the GPS system built into the trolley. It's been nearly a month now with no new update. Cant understand why a new update is taking so long. Pay a APP developer to get it sorted ASAP.

Really poor app. I bought the M5 connect trolley because it was advertised as showing distances on the trolley screen. I have had to reinstall the app three times at this stage. Cannot be relied upon to complete a full round of golf. Trolley should not be advertised as it is because the app is terrible.

Been using for nearly 3 years but over the last year a few features do not work, like automatic hole advance and GPS satellite not working correctly. Still ok to use but very frustrating when out golfing with nothing on display screen apart from loading

When on course, the measurement is completely inaccurate, it can be 15 to 20 metres out. My sat nav watch is more accurate, it may only be a metre out. My golf partner has a Power caddy trolley with a sat nav built in to it and it works perfectly.
