I'm powering through this app because of my love for automotive enthusiasm. However, this app makes it tough. I am constantly having to close the app and restart my phone to get it to work properly. Wifi streaming is also tricky. After every episode you have to close the app, reopen it, re-select your streaming device, and then select another episode to stream. After that it's rinse and repeat. It's not bad, but it could be better
You are now required to cast from your phone to the Xbox if you want to watch anything. Cancelling the subscription is turning out to be impossible as well. All of the links you're supposed to navigate through do not exist (at least for me), so now not only is the app unusable for me, they also get $50/yr from me still. I'm in the process of contacting customer support but I think we can all guess how smooth that's gonna go.
What happened to the Xbox app? Why do I have to use my PHONE to watch MotorTrend on my TV now?? What was wrong with the current system? You guys had just worked out all the kinks and then you went and ruined it. I am EXTREMELY disappointed with this move by MotorTrend. The point of having the app on the Xbox is so you DON'T have to use your phone! I would've been perfectly ok with this being added as a feature, but to take away the entire app and turn it into a casting portal is plain stupid.
Doesn't work at all. I set up a subscription that is supposed to have a 7 day trial but it just says something is wrong with the subscription. It won't charge my card because of the free trial but it also won't work!
Was great I had no complaints until recently when you made it to cast on Xbox. I don't always have a phone or tablet near by which makes this an annyance and sometimes it doesn't recognize the Xbox when trying to cast and end up just watching it on a tablet instead.
The recent update to the Xbox app - requiring casting from your phone - has completely ruined my enjoyment. The Xbox app (which I used extensively) WAS brilliant. Great UI/UX, easy controls, fast, and easy. Casting completely ruins the experience. I cannot grasp why they decided to do this.
Return to the xbox app. Casting does not work. Unable to watch shows. Support is of no help. Casting issue is persistent across all devices regardless of steps taken to rectify. Unscribing until xbox app is returned.
I don't normally review apps, but this one bugs me. I can't just sit an enjoy a show without it being a hassle. The casting function is the absolute worst. Just make the app for the TV like everyone else! Constantly losing sound, picture, freezing, closing... And that's if you can get it playing in the first place. Always have to restart the app, my TV, or both just to get it to play, and I can never watch 2 episodes of anything in a row. For a paid app/service, it's awful.
The app doesn't work on my Sony TV with Android TV. When I launch I can only select the sign-up button. The up, down, left and right from the remote doesn't work. UPDATE: The above issue is only resolved if I disable Bluetooth on my TV. Then the system worked for 1 day! Now it hangs on a black screen. I don't have an option in the phone app to cast, so I'm stuck. Tried clearing data and cache. Love the content, but hate the app. Also, FYI the QR code for sign in has an invalid URL!
I only have this app because of Top Gear really. I know they have lots of other great content, and I'd love to try it, but the app it self is no longer functioning correctly. I'm having the same full screen issue that others have mentioned in their reviews, and Motortrend has yet to fix it. Would love at least an acknowledgment that it's a problem, and then some idea of when they will fix it.
Love the content. The app itself no longer stays workin. Everything always starts off ok and within a few minutes the audio is delayed, about ten more minutes go buy and it stops working all together. Shut it down and reopen and same thing happens. This is happens no matter the device used, TV or Phone and has be an ongoing issue for some time now. It's really frustrating.
I love the amount of content this app provides, but the layout isn't user friendly and everything I've watched stays in the continue watching section forever. Also, the Android TV app doesn't function at all and I would love to use it instead of having to cast from my phone. If these things were corrected, it would be a much better experience.
this app is buggy and since the last update it doesn't work on my TV I have to stream from my phone and that only works once in a blue moon it has always been rough and never smooth but it has gotten to a new level of bad
Ever since they made it so you have to stream it through your phone to watch it on the Xbox, I haven't been able to watch anything. You guys had it working properly, and you screwed it all up. My phone is a Galaxy S10+ and my Xbox is a Series X. There is no reason it shouldn't work, yet here we are. Fix the app, preferably by reverting back to the way is was, and I'll rate 5 stars.
The app is a waste of time and space on my Samsung smart TV, won't allow me to cast anymore, which is stupid, considering the fact that you should be able to go on the app and choose the show you want without casting it from a phone.
Issue with subscription. Updated app, now it's absolutely worthless. I canceled my subscription until they fix it. I'm sure they'll respond by saying email us, which I have already
Requiring Xbox users to cast from their phones is the dumbest idea I have ever heard of, especially because if it doesn't work, you can't watch what you're paying for which is exactly where I've been since the last update. Is there a way to get a refund on my subscription since I already paid for a year? This is just ridiculous.
Great app for watching all motortrend content commercial free. It does have some issuses thst need to be fixed. You can not navigate if you use yhe app on a tivo stream 4k. I have 3 of them , none work. It worked perfectly on my nvidia box until i had tonreplace the remote. Now it has the same issue as the tivos. All the other apps navigate fine. Is there a work around? It works on amazon and mibox products. I hope you can fix this.
Why can't all videos streaming apps be this good? The ability to browse fully while still watching the video is perfect (when other apps offer this feature, it's usually just a pop-up with the episode number and title. It says that too, or you can search using a normal functionality with a video in picture-in-picture.) I never have the issue all the other apps have, where the video will sometimes stop playing instead of going to picture-in-picture when switching apps either.
Cannot control the app with my remote on Google TV. Pretty much useless. Not using my phone, that's not how I use my TV. After the Indy Mecum auction I'm cancelling. Wanted to keep it, but bad functionality is a deal breaker.
I mean goodness, the price is excellent but that's about it. You can't go true full screen, it's actually bad enough so that if you do try to go full screen some of the controls are inaccessible (out of bounds of the screen) on a Galaxy S21. This one simple fix would earn 5 stars from me.
Lately the streaming quality is terrible. I stream everything and I only have picture quality issues with Motortrend regardless of what device it's played on. Love most the shows. Wish you could rate shows or at least hide ones you don't like. I keep seeing recommendations that are terrible. The alerts tab is pointless please remove it.
The product as in the streaming service is very good but this app is one of the worst maintained pieces of garbage I have ever had the unpleasant experience of dealing with. Now when you full screen the video it rotates about a third of the screen off the bottom and leaves a bunch of text in the way, and it never fixes itself.
great content, only reason for 4 stars is the app is pretty slow and videos freeze up. it's not my internet because I've tried it on different devices and wifis and it always does it
Very finicky connecting from an android phone to a Samsung TV. Have to restart app over and over. Wish the app on the TV would just load the content vs loading them on my phone than sharing them to the tv... Update! Still garbage! Going to cancel service. Tired of wasting my time on your app.
love MotorTrend just have way to much trouble with the app at times. Seems like I have to restart my phone or turn the TV off to get it to see the TV an cast to it but hey I'd go through worse to watch my favorite shows
Longtime subscriber. I've seen MTOD go through all it's changes. When it works, it's enjoyable. But it doesn't always work. Maybe half the time for me. The other half it just loads forever or tells me it can't play that video. I won't cancel, but I also wouldn't recommend.
The content is fantastic but the app for your phone might as well of been designed by college students. You can't go landscape without a banner staying across the top. You will exit the app but it still keeps playing in the background. You guys need to take my money and design a more usable app.
The app doesn't work outright you pay for subscription and it tells you that you need to fix your subscription and won't tell you how or where to go. It's been like this for months for me and I decided to give it a try again last night and it worked but this morning it started messing up again. Do not bother untill they fix it. I wish they stayed on youtube
