To set up your Motorola Skip and Skip dots, download this app. Then make sure NFC is enabled, tap your Skip or Skip dot to the back of your Moto X and follow the onscreen instructions.
Motorola Skip only works on the the original 2013 Moto X and 2013 Droid.

This awsome application
The skip setup was so easy. It took awhile for me to find the sweet spot on my phone to unlock my phone. Now it is simple. I really like having this feature. PLEASE NOTE: One of my two cases has a kick stand. The kick stand's metal hinge is on the sweet spot and interferes with the skip device. My other basic plastic case works great with skip. ADDITIONAL NOTE: If you have paired Bluetooth devices you can make them a trusted device and this will keep your phone unlocked too. Goto the security section.
Updated my first gen moto x to 5.1 and now I can't set up my Motorola skip ... I tried turning on smart lock but then under screen security smart lock doesn't show up as an option. Really disappointed.
This app was made obsolete with 5.1. You have to enable "Smart Lock" in security settings, then add your NFC dots as trusted devices. It is pretty annoying that you still have to swipe up even if the phone is unlocked though.
If I pay for something, and you disable it, have I not been cheated out of what I paid for? Fraud, right? It does not work the same in smart lock. It's hit and miss on unlocking, and it doesn't open the screen, you still have to swipe. It was represented a specific way. Motorola changed it. In my opinion that's fraud, and anyone who paid for it, should get a refund. It didn't break, they broke it on purpose. If it was free with my phone that might be different. This canned response from Motorola is annoying
Do not buy this device, it does not work with Lollipop (5.1). Motorola will point you to instructions to make it work but there is no smart lock option on my first generation Moto X. Such a waste of money, thanks for nothing Motorola.
The skips used to work with my motx, but the new Android update broke them. Waste of money :(
Works well a while but now it suddenly stop and wont unlock my phone. Not sure if its software update that cause it.
WAS Excellent. Now after 5.1 upgrade I can't get it to work. Tried enabling in smart lock, tried uninstalling setup app. Nothing. I would have liked to have known this BEFORE allowing the 5.1 update. This is a significant inconvenience to me.
It was a fun little feature on my moto x, but it has sadly given away in favor of smart lock.
I don't wear the skip but I use the skip stickers on my car's phone mount and they are great for not needing to unlock my phone when in my car.
Moto skip was a great thing tell the new update for Android ruined it.
I don't lock my phone. I stay at home. There is no one to look at it. I uninstall every day,,and you put it back
Unlocking my phone without having to interact with the screen is convenient and time saving. Not to mention the skip feels like an extra layer of security.
I wanted set up my Skip and went to download the app, said I already have it. But I can't find it in my phone? I uninstalled and installed hoping it would create an icon like every other app I install and still nothing on my phone. In menu or on home screens. Upset.
Motorola Skip is so much better than Smart Lock. It's more reliable and gives better feedback to let you know that it has worked. Please bring it forward into lollipop. I'm regretting this upgrade.

I have a corporate email account which requires the phone to have a password so this app doesn't work for me. Would be better if I could bypass the dumb password...
Great for MOTORLA ANDROIDS. Which i have one. Droid Maxx and i Love it does great for me love the slide lock love how the time pops up so this app is great to have..
Why Motorola forces this down my throat is unsettling. Do not want, Use, or download.
I loved this, but technology does change, and at a fast rate people. The new Smart Unlock works wonderful, but if you have Corporate restrictions on your device, then don't expect to get around them. If you don't like them, get a second device?
It never did work with my original Moto X. And since Android 5.1 it is no longer supported. It's too bad I wasted my money on it. Don't waste yours.
This is very upsetting that an upgrade to a phone means I lose capability. I have Moto Skip products and now they are useless. Very disappointed that they do not work with Turbo.
Easy to setup, easy to use, and a very convenient Motorola tool. NFC is impressive. Using this discrete way to unlock my phone without constantly entering my password is great. I love my Moto X!
Not much of a life changer I originally thought it was a security device like if the phone was more than 2 feet away from it, it would lock down.
But not working in my moto x first gen.😩. Please fix it and inform me as soon as possible. I'll give it 5 stars after working.
Got my Skip with my purchase on Moto Maker and love it. Keeps my Moto X secure and at the same time I don't have to enter my pin a thousand times a day. Update: Works great with my digital tattoo.
