Off line maps freezes app if you inadvertently exit from the app and try to restart it so neither maps nor chat actually work. Rebooting my phone does not help. When in range of LTE data, in line map starts to work but the orientation is askew. No obvious way of turning the map upside right. Motorola, you need to work on this some more so that in the bush it is more reliable. As it is I am glad I dont depend on your maps or your communication tools.
The app is clunky. Lots of problems with downloading maps, getting them to display, and clipping pictures for user icons which hasn't worked since I got my T800 radios. No updates for two years, did Motorola quit supporting the app. At least the actual radios work for talking and listening.
App installation process was terrible. Got bluetooth paired, SMS text notification came through after 2 minutes. When I closed the app to open SMS text, I came back to the app and my session was deleted, had to start from scratch. Second go I literally never received SMS text. When I tried to resend the SMS, I got a generic error saying the text had been sent via SMS. Hence, why have this button if its not going to allow me to resend a new SMS? Recommend working on install process. Better apps.
Motorola support only sends an automated response. They do not seem to follow up after days and days. Poor rating for this. This app does not load offline maps when you are off line. Instead you have to be on line, load the off line map, then remember not to accidentally close the app. Really frustrating! And functionally useless when you are out of data range.
So far was not difficult to use. Would have given 5 star but the back arrow always pushes the app into the background which is very very annoying. A back arrow should bring to previous screen or main menu not push the app into the background. Why is there no send text to anyone listening why only to a group? Same as audio hello anyone listening.
Love the range, love the offline capabilities. I would like to see user defined auto sending near real time PLI sharing rate. If I want to send my PLI at 1 Hz automatically its my decusion. I understand it will come at a power and bandwidth cost but isn't that upto the user to decide? I dislike greatly engineers deciding whats best for me. You're trying to hit a power budget...users need the option.
Everything works well with the app and controlling the radio settings is quite a nice feature. It would be nice if you could download larger areas of the maps for offline use.
Only connected to one phone until the radio turns off then refuses to reconnect. Unreliable product. Tried to pair on many other phones. None of them will connect to the radios with this app.
Awesome user interface. Intuitive and simple. So far it's been stable and can indeed sends texts through the radios with mobile and wifi data disabled. Highly recommend.
They need to increase the tile limit so you can download a reasonable size offline map. This is nearly the sole purpose of the product. FAIL!
poor software that collects data not required for use. appears motorola is looking to steal better working software based legal document you have to agree to use software. thought motorola was top of there game, this app shows otherwise, what shame.
complete waste of time, app is trash got it to connect one time then never again. im returning these t800 radios the bluetooth is absolutely useless.
The app requires a verification code to move on in the install process in order to use online maps. I have been trying for two days and no SMS verification code. Do better Motorola.
Great maps as good as the apps you need to pay for. Great to stay connected on tough to spot trails.
App won't even pair to phone. Tried different phone as well. Walkie talkie is good. App broken.
What connect to phone. Ask for a code that it sends you but it dont actually send the code so the the only reason we got these radios dont even work... trash
What a bummer, why do I keep buying these worthless radios when I go camping, this app is a joke, the offline map download did me the same as others are saying . I tried to download one map of the area I go camping in lampasses texas, took forever then said to many tiles cannot download , gees one map, what a joke, will be returning to wallmart

Unable to keep steady connection between phone and Talkabout radios.
This app is problematic, particularly for those of us wanting to use the offline map feature when outdoors/camping. You cannot download a large area. If your selected area is too large, you have to delete it or it blocks you from adding other maps. You can save a map for offline use, but you evidently have to OPEN the offline map when you are still online, and leave it open in the app. If you attempt to open it when offline, it will display a black, empty space. If you close your app with the offline map selected, you lose it. No wonder there is no detailed user guide--the developers were too ashamed to write it.
