Like other reviewers have stated, it's amazing how popular you become when your fellow BMW riders find out you can reset their service reminder! I've also used the ABS brake cycling function and it works great. Bought the ultimate version which was probably more than I needed but have had no issues to date. Wish there was an instruction manual describing the many functions this software is capable of and how to use it. I'd gladly pay a fee for that option.
The 'Lite version has limited functionality but if you upgrade to the professional version you then have an app that allows you to reset service light, read and clear fault codes and do actuator tests and more. The support is excellent. Very happy with my purchase. You will of course need to buy an interface to plug into the diagnostic plug on your vehicle.
Great Tech Support! I had trouble getting setup because 1) I wasn't using a fully supported OBD adapter and 2) I was selecting the wrong model motorcycle from the list. Tech Support was able to tell me this from the logs uploaded from the app to them. They could see everything I was trying to do. Very impressive and quick to respond. Once I got the OBD Link MX I ordered and selected the appropriate model bike, it did everything I needed it to do. I highly recommend the upgrade. It's a bargain!
It will pay for itself over time. I used it to replace a faulty TPS with a €15 Aliexpress one. Saved trip to BMW dealer and cost of OEM. Ultimate version needed for this. But you can upgrade between versions at any time, but this costs a few euro more than going straight for ultimate. Lower (professional) version clears service reminder and error codes.
Works very well if you have a good understanding of the technology involved with both the bike and the phone app. Much cheaper alternative to a dedicated system like the GS-911. You dont have to buy the top level ultimate if you dont think you will need it, but can always upgrade later. Cool. So far I have used it to reset the service indicator on both a R12RT and a C650GT.
Exceptional piece of kit! Used it for the first time today. Could easily do some brain surgery on the bike to reset error codes after ABS flush that I did a year ago, but was still in the bikes memory as low brake fluid. Used it with their own dongle and patch cable. No drama connecting via Bluetooth. Highly recommended!
The app is great. But you need the pro version to do anything on your newer BMWs. Still, after purchasing the ultimate license, I'm still being nagged by the red "purchase license" button. And, you'll need to do your own never ending research on which functions work and how they work. Otherwise, it was worth the $$$$ just to reset the indicator on my 2016 1200RS and not spend twice that at the dealer.
Downloaded the app, purchased licence, and it just won't work! I've a WiFi adapter which is connected, and works as it's done in my BMW car, but the app for the bike keeps coming back as "no connection to control unit". Even the email troubleshooter is ridiculous, and I gave up trying to send an email after it opened 7 or 8 different apps to send one.
Once I had purchased the correct OBD2 interface ( OBDLink LX ) the app worked without issue. I upgraded to Ultimate however I think Professional which was the next level down, would have done everything I wanted. I initially tried to pair the OBDLink with my cheap and nasty android phone but no joy. Eventually I used my Samsung Galaxy Tab 2 and after pairing via Bluetooth in the settings on the Samsung the app worked faultlessly. It does everything the GS911 does at a fraction of the cost.
Brilliant app. The only issue I've found is that it doesn't seem to recognise that ESA suspension is present on my K1300S (K40), even though it clearly is there. Tried the ESA module - neither front nor rear detected. SAF module not found. Shame, as every other feature works perfectly. If it could record live data so you could replay graphs after the fact, that would be awesome.
It Works! I bought a bluetooth OBD adaptor for £22, the 10 pin to OBD adaptor cable and the App worked first time. The bike is a G650X Country and I was looking at the GS911, but the price is just way over the top. I've used a GS911 and in my application I can't see anything missing from Motoscan compared to the GS911. I upgraded to the unlimited licence for the app after trying the lite version first.
The application does not work with WiFi OBDII adapters. The ones I have work fine with other android apps like Torque, on different cars and motorcycle models. With this app, even though you choose the *right* IP address and port, it continues to try and connect to a Bluetooth device. It states "Bluetooth device 192.168.0.10 not found.", and then "Open the preferences of this app and select a Bluetooth device", even though WiFi was selected in the settings. One of the OBDII adpaters I used is even in videos features in the MotoScan youtube videos page and it does not work! As it is now, it is unusable, and I would not buy the license for it.
After having trouble with the app.(now understanding it was a google account error) and having been contacted by the app controller it is now fixed. This app and the upgrade to the highest level has saved me hundreds if not thousands of dollars in workshop fees. I am able to adjust and manipulate the bike's computer and peripheral systems. One thing I wish I could change is the TPMS reading to PSI rather than BAR. Love the app love the way it works love the support.
Using OBDlink LX (green) from Ebay with a link cable to 10-pin for a k1300s bought used recently. Purchased the Ultimate because I'm not doing it 2-3 times to be frustrated why something doesn't work. So about $125 was able to reset SIA on screen after my fresh oil an filter change. And a big sigh of relief when scanning modules and found no faults present. Looking thru the options there is everything an average person needs. If you need more to fix a bike it probably shouldn't be road legal!
Still working on getting my bike to connect, so consider this a review in progress! Will a standard OBD-USB adapter cable work or do I have to get a WiFi/BT adapter? I have a cable that works great on my cars, but in the app it looks like only WiFi and BT are supported.
Some time connects.sometimes not. It keeps telling me that i only have the light version despite having the ultimate veesion installed.such a load of hassle to get it recognise the ultimate version. All that said, it works great when connected with OBD LX unit
Now saying my adaptor wont do long msg ( service re set .) Worked previously 😖Developer claims service reset never worked with my adapter IT DID!! have done resets several times in the past ,my adapter was not a cheap ebay knock off cost around £70 so now need to spend another £60 for a new adapter 😡OH and the adapter they recommend the unicar scan is made by them !! Surprise surprise!
Works like a charm with unicarscan. First tried it with a chinese obd reader but some functions were not working, so don't cheap out on that. Would be nice if there was some sort of a manual for it as some functions are not 100% clear but overall i'm satisfied.
Upgraded to ultimate as lite and professional versions are more for checks on possible issues, service reset and are not as comprehensive as "ultimate". The GS911 unit is a better option in my opinion however if your requirements are just to reset the service indicator, check actuators, etc then an OBD unit and this app work well. The developers are continually improving on this app it seems so look out for upgrades later.
With the professional version I have been able to reset my service interval to 4,828 km (3,000 mi) & 1 year & clear the instrument cluster messages on my '14 RT (K52). Suits my purposes. There was a slight learning curve. I had an answer from support very quickly when it was needed. Now I pack my green OBDLink (TM) & depend on this app for on-the-road interventions.
Found the fault, ordered the part (cam sensor) fitted the part and cleared the fault. Saved me a money already and it's the first time I've used it. I tried it with a cheap chinese diagnostic adaptor and it didn't work well, the unicar adaptor is expensive, but it works perfectly and is still a lot cheaper than a GS911.
For people having issues connecting you will first need to go to settings then connections and select the correct bluetooth dongle, the problem i was having was it showed that it was connected on the bluetooth adaptor but the app was not finding the correct adaptor. Works fine now.
Tried the Lite version, worked flawlessly. Will be purchasing the Pro version. Happy I found this app: It has more capabilities than I do. Now I can feel confident when I am off road, to diagnose issues when required. Awesome app when combined with the OBDLINK LX adapter. Thanks to the developer for this great software.
Works better than expected. 2018 r1200gsa with connectivity and paired up with the OBDLink LX. i was able to reset the service indicator for a fraction of the price as a GS911 and at about the same price that the dealer was going to charge me to reset the damn light. just make sure that you reset the mileage and the date to get the warning to go away. you also have to convert from Kilometers to Miles if you're in one of those silly countries. i opted for the professional license.
Used to reset service check light on my r1200gs. I needed to get the one 16 to 10 pin round connector and a uni car scan tool from OBD2 Australia and it worked like a charm on my android phone. Also make sure you get the professional version to reset service intervals.
Great product ! Purchased the ultimate version last year. Had some issues when I switched phones recently. Both the speed and level of support I received to help resolve the issue was outstanding.
Well worth the money, I have a 2016 R1200RT and it works flawlessly on it. Only issue I had was customizing/ changing the screen photo on the appt seems like it's an option, but it doesn't have a lot of information on what are the requirements of the photo size shape etc... It doesn't seem to work as discribed, no biggie just would be nice
