A terrific video player if that is what you are looking for. Handles all file formats with ease. However, it has the problem of the UI being made by programmers rather than people who know anything about design. UI is honestly hot garbage, but the player is amazing.

Best player out there and the only one that allows background playback with no BS. The only thing missing is sorting the file list by date instead of alphabetically. Thanks!

Could you add an easier way to play/pause, such as double tapping? It's rather difficult to pause quickly with the little button. Edit: I found the setting, you can customise gestures 😅 🤦‍♂️

It is great alternative to VLC on PC/Linux and even on Android. But one thing is that it doesn't recognize .bin files as videos. My browser is downloading online videos as bin files apparently so I have to change file extensions to mp4 for mpv to recognize it. MPV should recognize media files rather than specific file extensions.

finally i found video player with gamma, contrast, brightness controls. Great job! very fast player. please don't stop develop: add better UI, more customization settings, gestures, etc

This app can run literally any video. The only thing they need to change is the user interface. If they change the interface this app can beat vlc easily.

Definitely one of the best players, would've given five stars if It had feature to adjust sub size and position in the Player and option to change player hide time.

I like the speed of this app the only drawback it is the lack of Pich to Zoom feature. Will be great if there will be such option to quickly scale the video by pinching.

Nothing can match mpv in terms of video QUALITY on Android. The shaders, scaling and color rendering options available through mpv.conf are second to none. Thanks!

Great, even though Android 12 butchered mpv's ability to open streams... unless there's a setting that enables it and I'm not seeing it.

Happy : Because the true HDR Color problem plus playing 100% smoothly problem is now totally solve ,done by the last update. Unhappy : Because still Bangla subtitles fonts shows like boxes no words showing

Only option needed is aspect ratio support for newer 20, 21:9 ratio support Or fit to screen, glad if its based on gesture.

Suddenly can't play HEVC 10bit anime videos after the update. It was playable and smooth before.

Good promise, but very underdeveloped. I love mpv on PC, and this app lets me watch mkv files while the default player doesn't. However, this app currently doesn't support pausing by tapping your earbuds, which means that you have to take out your phone just to pause a video. I can't do that at work. I can't use this. It's also difficult just to get it to move forward in a playlist properly. It comes with a file manager that can't sort by date, and it doesn't work seamlessly with Gallery.

I have to say this media player is all in one ...and ut is good too.. But need more video formats+ Codescs support..

I wouldn't complain too much since this is mpv. Just one thing: when i finished playing video it back to the file list right? Why it always came back to the top of it? I mean it's fine if my folder only have 4 files but when it contained hundreds of files (and the video is happen to be at the end of the list) it's really annoying to scroll over and over again from the top. Such a time wasting. It need to remember the last position (on the file list) after playback is finished. Please fix that.

I love this app. I don't really care about UI, but three features I would like mpv to have are: 1. More aspect ratio options (would be better if there is a freestyle, touch-drag and stretch option) 2. Options to resize and move the subtitles according to our will 3. A proper "continue from where you stopped" feature to resume the video. Then this player will be the G.O.A.T!!

MPV is my go-to media player on both macOS and Windows. I'm glad to see this android port works very well and it works exactly in the manner I want: no fancy Library view, just a Files view to navigate and play smoothly. The playback interface is minimal, swipe right/left to seek, swipe up/down to change brightness or volume. This is all I want personally for a media player on mobile.

You know when you're looking for something very specific and after filtering through tens of searches, you find exactly what you're looking for? This is that app. It might not have a very pretty UI, nor is it feature rich, but it is EXACTLY what I wanted. Request to the devs: please separate the gesture control toggles; I like swipe-scrubbing video, I don't like accidentally setting my volume to 100. Cheers!

It's super light weight and is extremely fast to open files. I use it to playback files from file manager/FTP viewer, and the speed is unlike any other app. Negatives: automatic rotation feature doesn't work, but can choose default portrait or landscape. UI is slightly visually outdated. Speed is the compromise, and it's worth it.

I was having lag on both MX and VLC players but this one plays high quality MKVs smooth as butter. 10/10 despite dogshit ui.

Its not perfect but its as close to it as they can get it. Its a huge improvement over the earlier version and far better than VLC and some others but there are some channels with some audio or video codecs which just doesn't work with this version of MPV. Keep working on it and it won't be long before it is a 5 star app but use this one until a better version shows up.

Screen casting is one of the things I'm waiting for. However, that aside... I'm not sure if it's libmpv as a decoder or something else, but playing videos is a hit-or-miss. One video can play just fine through hardware while another video fails completely on hardware and sends blinding white epilepsy-inducing flashes on software. When it works, it's great.

Honestly, great. Best I have seen on Android in terms of playback quality, efficiency in battery usage, and outright performance. It plays videos my tablet can't play natively with almost no dropped frames and my tablet is not very powerful. Other, 3rd party players either didn't play at all or struggled with those formats. Only need two more features to be perfect: Casting support, and a slightly better interface or more customisation of said Interface. Otherwise, best there is on Android.

Recently added features to change the offset for audio and subtitles from video, which is nice, but also recently changed the way filenames display so as to show the starting and end, which is not nice. Now when I have a TV show downloaded, it shows the name of the show and the code at the end, but not the actual episode number. Please have it scroll or allow us to choose how we want it displayed via options

Can't see any video files on nvidia shield. Tired to submit bug report on GitHub but they deleted it twice. So I make my report here instead.

Please add screen fill aspect ratio and player should remember aspect ratio

This is the FASTEST player for Android, hands down. Thanks to libmpv, I don't think there's a codec this can't handle. Aside from a few missing features (such as cropping videos, media info etc. which will come I'm sure with time (maybe even integration with YouTube-dl?) ), this player is perfect! I have been using mpv in my PC for a while, and thanks to these developers I get to have mpv in my phone as well! Keep up the great work guys.
