Well, I've been a loyal customer since mSecure 4. I paid for 5 ( mobile AND desktop) because I thought it was a great app worth supporting. However, I was never given the choice to "upgrade" to 6. It was done behind the scenes, and now if I want to sync between my mobile and desktop, I have to pay a ransom (sorry, " subscription fee"). Oh, well. Guess I'll move over to Bitwarden. At least they're upfront about subscriptions.
Wow what a year later and we have version 6 and still it won't load up on a reboot. So sad. Maybe your deb's so ask other developers how to program. Like Malwarebytes, threema, Universal Copy. Just to name a few that do load up on a reboot. I don't know how long it takes to do a simple fix but I do believe a year is unacceptable. I'm switching to bitwarden. 1. No option in settings to turn on auto load to notification tray when phone boots up.
I've been using mSecure for several years now. Really appreciate how well it works, and how secure it is. I have no problem with the very affordable subscription rate. Available on my Android phone, Apple iPad, and Mac and Windows computers without any problems. It was wonderful having access to it even in the middle of Central Asia with no problems. Love it!
The app WAS great! The new versions are absolutely ridiculous. They are forcing you to a yearly subscription and limiting the use of the app unless you Sync to their servers. They removed groups, limit your ability to add, edit, or change 'tags' unless you edit every record. To use vaults, you must sync with their measure Cloud. Furthermore, customer service can only be done via email which takes days to get a response. My advice, move on to something else and save yourself a lot of grief.
I have been a paid user of Msecure for years and really like the program until now. I do not mind the paid subscription but lately I have submitted two issues I have. As a matter of fact I have submitted them three or four tmes and they have closed them everytime without sending or communicating a solution to me. I keep getting messages to update to the premium from essential. I would have done that already but I keep asking myself why Upgrade when I cannot even get answers to my questions.
I bought version 4 years ago and have used it without issue. Now suddenly I'm getting a full screen ad for this "new version" every time I open the app! I don't want to make an account, especially when I'm not going to pay for any cloud backup services that I don't need!
Update 3/24/2022: I was an early adopter of mSecure (circa . I paid for the pro version years ago. Now they sneakily have changed the app so that you have to pay a subscription for 0 added value. Im going to look for a similar product that doesn't force a fee without benefits. Decent. I do wish the app would have done browser integration independent of the browser itself slowing you to auto generated passwords when you create a new web account as Google chrome does currently.
Dropbox Sync process still has issues. If I delete a record on a device, it's not updated on other. The app is becoming unreliable. Sad to say, Your most reliable app version was V4, it was just perfect,all it needed was a fingerprint access, but just for cosmetic and commercial reasons you guys messed up a wonderful app.
Reordering fields is now a premium feature? Have been a loyal user since MSecure 5. Moved to an Essentials account after MSecure was upgraded to 6, first feature that's been taken from free to premium, wonder how many other free features you'll slowly axe so we, your old Loyal users for at least 5 years, are forced to switch to subscription service. Better be guaranteed that of we're forced, sure as well won't come back to you. Focus on acquiring new users through better features instead of screwing over the old ones. And if it hasn't struck the management yet, that's the only way, slowly, but happily, you can convert your old users as well to subscription service.
Been a long time customer for years. Recommended this to so many people. Gladly paid the one time fee for subscription. Now, switching to someone else because developers are being money hungry and making us pay yearly subscription. I already paid to use this app, now you want to charge on a subscription basis. Have much better options. Hope you guys read this and decide to make a change, you can see many people are upset about this. Hope you lose a lot of business from this. Thanks for nothing.
My only problem is I have to add all my other passwords from an older app that I can't merge into this version! Other than that this New version is on my PC and Mobile phone and syncs love this app and all its features. No other complaints. After further use I am blown away with this app also when in need of secured change of passwords instead of creating one without this help can be daunting try the password generator. 😅 impressive!
I see they are still pedaling this stupid subscription fee when there is zero recurring cost to the developer. Especially if you're using dropbox to sync. Such a slimy dev. Guess I still wont be using this. Original Review from 2018: Pretty annoyed that not only did I already pay for mSecure4 which I was perfectly happy with but now the dev has completely removed it from the app store in a cash grab to force people to "upgrade." I'll be finding a different password manager.
Been using mSecure since 2011. Up to this point I would give the app 5 stars. There have been a few minor hiccups but the app has reliably synced across the max three devices. ********************************************************************************************** Today (2022-03-22) I am leaving it at 3 stars for now. The Android update this week that converted my mSecure v5 PRO to ver 6 was a big surprise and more so when I saw the "30 days left in your Premium trial" in the app. NO NOTICE - ZERO - that this was coming. Confirming I did NOT receive an email from you in the past 6 months re this change and I know you have my email because I received a notice when I transferred mSecure to a new PC in Oct 2021. This is sloppy, really sloppy. ********************************************************************************************** Furthermore, I go to log into your support forums only to discover that it no longer recognizes my login. This is not the first time this has happened. Disconcerting! ********************************************************************************************** EDIT - re pricing - saw the other reviews with your comments re legacy users of a paid ver 5 will get the Essentials plan without a need to pay more. Missed this earlier on the Plans web page as I did not scroll down. ********************************************************************************************** Looks like all the defined v5 PRO Groups info is gone. Tags will work as a replacement but Tags are not available in the Essentials plan. Would have been good if the Groups had been transferred over and made into Tags.
Updated 3/25/2022 - They get some stars back for clarifying new subscription and old paid for plans. I'm on a trial so I'll update this once it's over Updated 3/21/2022 - WHAT just happened?!?!? I paid for this years ago and now it says premium trial for 28 days?? Original review: Life Saver! Been using this app for years and is always one of the first apps on a new phone. The older I get and the more weird passwords I have to create, there's no way I'm remembering these things anymore.
I've used Passwords Plus since Palm Pilot days and this program is a great replacement! I can do everything I did with Passwords Plus and much more. Glad to have a modern app to store and protect my passwords and other information, credit cards, and memberships.
20APR22: "support" blames me because I "must have an old version of Windows" - I'm running WIN10PRO V1909 - that not up to date enough? 0-STARS 16APR22 update. Wrote too soon. My move from SpladID was prompted by their terrible "support" and the same is happening here. If you try to stick with V5 you lose sync - so what's the point? I moved to V6 on my phones and it is OK - but the PROMISED UPDATE TO THE WIN10 APP isn't there so I still CAN'T SYNC my desktop. Unprofessional in the extreme.
MSecure forced an update to v6 with a suddenly appearing 30 day trial membership and subscriptions! The reason I chose mSecure was the one time fee, guess I'll have to look for alternatives now... :( The Essentials subscription that was mentioned in the mail I received is nowhere to be found.
I stumbled into Msecure nearly a decade ago and have always enjoyed the app. Now, they are charging a $15.00 annual subscription that I'm happy to pay. I want products that are updated on the regular, add new features, and keep my data safe. I was on splashid years ago and the worst thing was that they stopped updates. I'm hoping this new model insures Msecure will remain current.
Long time user of mSecure. Upgraded to v6 no problem. My v5 pro features carried over. Nice work. Especially appreciate the continued clean UI and focus on the central purpose, secure password manager. So far avoiding feature creep and 'dancing bears'.
Update: Not sure V6 is an upgrade. If there's still a way to generate passwords for new logins, it's gone. That was one of the most useful features. Please make font size adjustable, too. I have been using this app for about 10 years & have it on multiple devices ( iOS and Windows). Now that's going to cost you extra.
As usual for MSecure - nonexistant quality assurance/testing. Same with previous major release change. Like - no ability to edit previous Login records. You edit it, change username in a record, save it and it wont change. Still have the old one. One would expect that "editing a record" would be part of testplan, it's not. Most probably same poor quality for security features. Same coders and work attitude to be expected. Same issue with MacOS version, so it' company attitude most probably.
Hoping that since this was upgraded from v5 to v6 without direct consent that it doesn't lose any data. Used to see the letter range when scrolling with thumb tab on left, now doesn't. Taking care to NOT use any of the new features since I don't see any added value for my use of this product.
Thank you for your response to my last post regarding the upgrade from the paid version of mSecure v5 to v6. Yes, your initial communications regarding the upgrade was unclear and confusing. I appreciate the clarification and fee free upgrade! An excellent product combined with exemplary customer service really matters and is very much appreciated! Thank you!
Would have been nice if you clarified what you where doing with this version in regards to v6 and the previous non greed subscription model . Rubbish communication I will never support subscription model of apps/software. The app is great, but you get a 1 star for communication and your new greed model.
Having trouble copying username AND passwords from the mSecure app into other apps. Everytime I select one of those fields to copy, it tries to take me to a site in the secure browser. It treats both of those fields as though the data is in the URL field.
Have been using the app for years. I am looking forward to the update. Simple to use. Syncs across all my devices seamlessly. Probably the only app I have ever used that has not crashed or frozen.
This was a good app but STAY AWAY now they changed to subscription and customer service is awful. I would give -10 if I could. App upgraded without any noticed and changed a lot of my data some unrecoverable. BEWARE of this company.
May 2022 UPDATE: Wouldn't use this now. After many years of use, they've introduced monthly payments. I think it was mSecure 3 when I started around 2012-13 range. I upgraded to 4, then 5 and 5.5, uncluding desktop service. In March, mSecure 6 was FORCED upon me unknowingly. It caught my desktop, but I had my app not updating. I'll use Google Sheets now. OLD REVIEW (2012-2022): Used this for about 8-10 years now. Wouldn't use anything else. Love the desktop/mobile integration. Very fast syncing
