What a disappointment. Installed the app 3 times on my Samsung Galaxy S8 and it still won't play any video, live or not. The video screen opens, looks like it's starting to buffer for a split second then immediately closes and goes back to the main screen. No error message. The help team was very responsive, but none of their troubleshooting helped at all. Fix. This. App.
Cast working again. At first it seemed to be on a 5 min delay, but you can quickly fast forward to Live. The cast sporadically crashes but you can quickly recast it. It's a bit annoying though. It seems like the cast feature has been a problem for years. It get's the job done at the moment. Hopefully they continue to improve and keep it somewhat stable.
First, casting barely works. When you cast, it inexplicably plays the game 5-6 minutes delayed. Also, it randomly stops casting every few minutes so you need to keep checking your phone. Why? Who knows except the developers of this terrible app. Shirt cannon doesn't work. Half the time, it's just a black screen. When it does load, it registers all your clicks with a 2-3 second delay. You need to click 8 times, and you have 10 seconds total. Math doesn't add up. Make a better app.
I'm not sure what happened with this app. I mainly use this to watch Knicks games and the Shirt Cannon and Trivia screens barely work now! Sometimes it doesn't load at all. Sometimes, it does load, but you can't even select anything! Or there's a huge delay (~5 seconds) before it registers your touches. If you only have 8 seconds to pick all of the selections, you can see how it would be impossible to win. Also, what happened with the screen rotations? It is so sensitive now! Please fix ASAP.
UPDATE SEPT. 6, 2019 - Quite possibly worse than it was. Can't even login. Come on guys. It's not like you guys don't have the budget to fix this problem. Fire whoever is in charge of this app! Worked great until the Oct 9, 2018 update. Awful now. Can't even click on a game to watch it. Either does absolutely nothing or the app crashes constantly. Please go back to what it was. Downloaded to watch a live hockey game. It didn't work on my Android phone. I emailed the developer, who had me clear the cache and data of in the phone's app settings. I then re-launched the app with the wifi turned off, and it ran fine. I reconnected to the wifi and watched a live hockey game. Mission accomplished. I shorted it one star because I couldn't Chromecast it.
Complete garbage on both smartphone and chromebook. It's quite possible I've accidentally taken a time machine back to 2008 and am using the 2008 version of this app, but time travel not existing aside, that can't be true because apps in 2008 still weren't this awful. Literally just has not worked for my chromebook in weeks. And for phone it's constantly buffering. Super cool bonus: there isn't a portrait-mode stabilization feature. So the screen constantly flips upside down and upright.
This app was fine before now you can't watch a game in full-screen mode without it rotating the screen back and forth. Can't even lock the screen from rotating. Very annoyed with this. I have to prop it up or put it on an angle when out and about just to keep it full-screen. Now updating months later and still no fix to the issue above?! Amazing enough still the same issues. And the recent update made it worse. How? Still can't hold a landscape layout and it freezes constantly. Seriously?
I have two problems. 1) if I leave the app, I have to close it and restart it for if to be able to stream, otherwise it's just a black screen. 2) it's very sensitive with screen rotation. If I move the phone a quarter of a degree sideways it'll flip the screen. And it doesn't help if I lock the rotation on my phone Edit: I took away a star because I recently got a firestick and they don't have an app on there so I can't even watch on my TV.
Never had an issue with the old app. Worked fine last year. New improved version hasn' t worked once. No, the problem causing the error message has NOT been fixed. Can we get the old version back? I sent an email. They are reviewing. I'm missing games. Update:. I DID email you, back on 9/25. I received several replies from msg networks support. I followed all of your suggestions. I provided you with my cable provider and device information. That was 9/27. Now today, you ask me to email you?
This app is great when using mobile, but horrible when casting to another device. I typically cast any streaming service from my phone to my smart TV with no issues. However, with MSG Go, anytime I cast the game, it gets delayed by 5-10 minutes of game time. I'll uncast from the TV and it will go back to live on my phone. To me this is completely unacceptable. Not to mention the stream cuts out constantly and I have to reset the app and re-cast to my TV. Please work on this, MSG.
This is a horrible app. For such a massive and rich corporation as MSG, it's truly sad and incredibly unreliable that they even both offering this as a service. The image quality is only decent half the time to watch any sport. The audio is often behind the play. If you're lucky, the feed will lag like crazy. I use this to watch hockey games and there's a freeze/lag every 2 mins. making the game difficult to watch. Although it's a free app, it still represents MSG as a corporation and is a fail.
Worked fine until a week or two ago. Now I experience constant loading issues when watching a game. If the video freezes, which happens every few minutes, you have to back out and load the app again which makes you watch more ads. In the last 2 games and I've seen the Lexus ad probably 100 times. Tried uninstalling and reinstalling with no luck. Issues happens no matter how good the internet or 5G connection is. This is unusable now
My favorite is how customer service wants you to e-mail them to troubleshoot. Why wouldn't you test the app before launching instead. Combine this, with the fact that the Knicks are terrible, and the decision is easy! #Uninstall and unsubscribe. They are working on a TV app? Make the mobile one functional first, then you can worry about getting with the times.
App doesn't work at all. I tried to install it to my Samsung smart tv. Doesn't even appear in the apps list or even on a search. So I tried my android phone. It loads but won't show the game. The app replies that it can't "play live video while casting screen" even though I'm not casting the screen! The MSG GO website doesn't even work through a PC browser. Get your act together guys!!!!
Update:Nov 2nd... Works great with Chromecast. Finally. Good stuff. original: it works but can be finky. i have to clear the apps cache often because it doesnt end the session completely when going out. yet doesnt play in the background when opening another app like when texting etc... i found an interesting glitche. when casting my phones screen to my Chromecast audio, i can hear the sound and watch on my phone. but when casting to my tvs Chromecast its not allowed and stops playing.
Absolutely terrible picture when streaming through Chromecast. Can't even read the score or how much time is left. If a commercial does squeak through, it's always high quality video. When the game comes back, it's all pixelated and horrible quality. Only app where video is as bad as it is.
How can this not have Chromecast functionality? I don't know if they'll see this edit, but this app actively blocks casting the screen. If you're planning on adding Chromecast, why not unblock screen casting as a stop gap? New edit: You're wrong. There is something in the app that makes Android disallow you from casting the screen while the video is playing. Try it! Also, now I can't even use the app at all as it crashes with 'unknown error' when I try to start it up.
Don't bother with this app, it is trash. Streams fail to load, no casting. If you have an Android TV you can sideload install chrome and force it to use the desktop website to get the MSGgo stream on your TV, a service you paid for. The only downside is you need moose support but if you have the Nvidia shield, their remote app has a virtual trackpad. To the MSG Fat-Cats (because I bet the developers would love to add these features), make this app Android TV compatible, and also supply Chromecast support and nearly all these 1 stars will disappear.
I tried to download it. When it came to selection of service to sign in. Selected version, then in the app, it then in the msg app, switches to discovery then wants me to put in an activation code, an wants me to pair with my computer. What the actual flying phuck is that about?? Thanks but no thanks. Figure it out!!!!! One star because none or negative is not an answer..
PLEASE fix the cast situation with this app. The only reason I'm even giving 2 stars is that streaming sort of works withing the app itself. Unbelievably frustrating user experience for casting purposes. It took years to roll out the feature, and when they finally did it doesn't work. This shouldn't be so hard.
Chromecast live game experience is almost unwatchable. Out of sync with real time, picture/sound stutters consistently, games pause to load and skip ahead, occasional crashes...400mpbs internet plan, strong wifi throughout, phone, TV and chromecast made in 2020 and this is my experience with no resolution. If the point of crummy chromecast compatibility is to protect depleting cable subscriptions IT'S WORKING GREAT! đŸ˜‚
The app itself is fine. Streaming in-app is also fine. However, once you stream to a Chromecast, it falls apart with by far the worst video quality I've ever seen. This is the *only* app with this problem. Hardware and network shouldn't be an issue either between my Galaxy S10 and FiOS Gigabit connection. Please fix this.
Downloaded this app for the ability to cast to my TV (which the website says you can do and even provides steps to do so). The website for MSG Go doesnt allow for casting either, so I was hopeful when the FAQ site said to do it from the app and the app updates say it now supports it! Well, downloaded and there's literally no way to use Chromecast. The prompt never even appears in the play screen like it's supposed to! Basically a pointless app.
10/30 Update: I got a response from emailing them. The email told me to uninstall/reinstall app, clear cache, clear app data, restart, and turn off wifi. That's fine, did it. Tried signing in to Spectrum again, and once again a blank webpage, page not found, or sending me back to the sign-in screen. I've tried three different devices, still the same thing for each device. They emailed me on 10/3 and they said "We're escalating this matter to our vendor" and haven't heard anything since.
I got a message in the middle of watching a knicks playoffs game that says "This version of the app is no longer supported. Please go to the store and download the latest version." But when I go to the store and uninstall and reinstall the app the same message pops up. I'm literally missing the playoffs because of this. Please fix this bug.
This app is horrendous. I literally just downloaded it for the 1st time, was on the app and as soon as the game started it stopped working. I've tried uninstalling and reinstalling and it still won't work 10mins and counting. EDIT it's been over an hour and i still can't get on the app. All i get is error unknown.
It doesn't matter if it's the browser or apps on any device, it constantly lags, freezes, glitches, even backtracks 5 mins to go back to live a min later. Every 2 mins you have to hit live because you're already 30 secs behind. Absolutely unwatchable while trying to watch anything, but when there's no other choice, well, it's called the radio.
