I tried using this August '19 & it was a bit rough. It burned up quite a bit of battery at that time & was slow to scan. I started using it again a few weeks ago as a way to just check prices here & there. I was impressed at the significant improvements. So much so I spent a large chunk of today scanning cards (~1,700). Scanning was fast & mostly accurate. I still needed to adjust the set pretty frequently but it wasn't too bad & didn't feel like it was slowing me down too much. Subscribed!
It works fairly well. My issue is that I can't set custom data. I wish it let you take your own pictures for certain cards. I have a few custom alt art cards that I can't properly add to my deck because it won't let me add a card unless it recognizes it. This helps if you need to back a card image after accidentally downloading a stock one. The only option is to delete the card and rescan it. It's a little cumbersome. Another nice factor would be to be able to copy cards to lists. Not just move.
Edit: the dev responded with an update within a few hours and they fixed the issues. Back to the best MTG scanner in the app store. The latest update completely broke the app. You can no longer create a new list. When you click on the camera button on the all cards section, it would open a new list with the date. Now it opens an all cards list and won't let you change the list name -- it just crashes.
1) There's a learning curve but after a little practice you can scan cards pretty quickly 2) I agree with Jesse, you should absolutely warn people that export requires payment 3) Suggestion: change the camera focus from continuous auto, to constant 10 cm macro. No one is scanning cards from ten feet away and the re-focus is quite cumbersome and adds a lot to the time of scanning. Other than that, great job! Thank you dev(s)! I'll buy it if you take my advice or refute with good reasons :)
Very fast, very accurate, very forgiving scans. Of the 509 or so cards I scanned, I had 4 cards that would not scan for some reason and had to add manually, and 3 goofs I had to manually correct. I would say it is well worth it. Downside: a lot of the scanned images were blurry. Fortunately theres an option within each list to download all images, which was very handy and worked from the 'all cards' list Have not exported lists yet but I plan to subscribe, this app is worth it
Scanning works great but lacking functionality. Not a bad interface, and seems to work as expected most of the time. My biggest gripe is that it'll often rescan cards to add multiple copies. Since there's no obvious visual feedback for this, I don't realize until the final card count is doesn't match the number of cards I scanned. Figuring out which were accidentally scanned a second (or third) time nullifies the time saved by the scanner. Still faster to manually type them in
Extremely useful for card collection cataloguing. Recognition is amazing, but keep an eye on lands, tokens and cards from different sets with the same image. (In that order) unlike "other" card apps, the collections capabilities aren't predicated on a flurry of in-app $3 dollar purchases, one after the other. The best collections app I've used so far with amazing card searchability (in collection and out of collection searches.) The one downside in my opinion is that when searching for a card, you don't see any cards until you finalize the search and it automatically adds it to your collection. Not a terrible downside by any stretch of the word, but it can get annoying when trying to see a cards image or text without adding the card to a collection or deck. HIGHLY recommended for cataloguing MTG.
I was impressed by much of this app but was equally annoyed by much of it as well. For all the options there really needs to be one to allow you to turn off taking the pictures automatically. The majority of my photos were blurry because it would detect the cards before the camera would focus. This led to a lot of them misidentifying the card or release. Deleting and retaking the photos doubled my work and it even kept taking pictures of my empty table and calling it a card somehow.
Excellent for finally knowing what cards you really have. Also great for finding the old commons that went from 8¢ to $40. It does happen every new meta change. Cheap to use the export function and helped me scan in $4,800 worth of cards. Upgrades are done to make it easier to use, such as an immediate delete button for double scanning and it will speak card names if you want to double check without having to look every time. Double thumbs up.
I rarely actually rate apps, but I've fallen in love with this app and so I just want to give a shout out to the Devs for it. It is so nice to be able to just scan my collection in. Then, when it's all scanned I can search my list by name or even by function, such as looking up all cards with trample or such. I prefer to turn off the auto-scan, feverish I end up with a bunch of blurry images otherwise, but to its credit, the app still recognizes them. Kudos for this app!
Love this app. Have scanned in all my cards and was able to separate them into their respective sets. Have had a few issues with it scanning the card incorrectly but easily fixed so long as you're paying attention to the screen. You can quickly change the set if it pops up different than the card and can delete quickly if need be. Very useful for organization. Replacing my scanned images with the stock image is a great feature!
Pros: The back end of this app is AMAZING! Hands down, five stars. Cons: The front end is a D+, passable yet with notable room for improvement. Perhaps it way my device, however the camera had to be at a certain angle to scan and had issues with glare and foil cards (i.e. glare). The interface is downright TERRIBLE. In all fairness, their support email prompted a capable and swift response. Even with that, an important factor, the endless hassle of the front end proved too much to keep this app.
Scanner works great since before the purge of my lists. Luckily, I only had scanned my decks. Updating now, so I will edit stars if there is significant improvement to the camera. It scans fast, but almost too fast. The card images come out blurry unless I hover over the card, then swipe to activate camera, then swipe to deactivate camera, check card clarity, then (usually) scan again. Also, when tapping lands, it wipes them from the list.
Has had some problems fetching prices for alternate art cards from newer sets (Ikoria, M21), but all around pretty solid app. Camera works well most of the time, with occasional problems scanning black cards on a dark background, and sometimes needs to be refocused, but it has saved me from serious headaches trying to catalog a good chunk of my collection. Pretty hearty thumbs up.
Edit: Oh, thanks for telling me. Yeah I just didn't see there was an update, fixed the problem. (Original 3 Star Review) Worked well for a while, but for some reason I stopped scanning for a few minutes and now it can't recognize any cards anymore. I made sure the permissions were still on, restarted the app and my phone and it still can't detect any cards anymore.
Been looking for something like this for a long time, finally able to scan in my collection of cards, still working on scanning it all in, 13,200+ so far. If your collection is as large as mine, make sure you have plenty of storage space data ~600MB cache is ~650MB. The camera on this app is fast & great and the $3/month if you need to export more than one hundred cards doesn't seem too bad to me, allows for local or Dropbox integration (or both) for backup. Search is... different... Great app!
Scanning your collection with Delver Lens could not be simpler. Very easy to use and plenty of power and utility in the free version. Has some difficulty with black cards but from my experience all card scanners do. If you get the lighting right you should have no problems though. The "Sell to Card Kingdom" option is super convenient and intuative. Excited to see what new features are in the pipe line as the developer seems very hands on and is actively working on improving the experience.
Love the app overall as it makes organizing as easy as possible and its free! The reason why I took away 2 stars (and I'm hoping this feedback is put to good use by the dev) is because the app keeps the camera on even when youre just looking through your lists or organizing decks. This causes my phone to heat up and drains my battery quickly. I just took pictures and then took the timr to organize a 60 card deck and lost 25% of my battery! Otherwise its a great app that I'm happy with.
Great app. Makes swapping, buying and selling so much easier, it's easier to build decks with. Prices shown are reasonably accurate but, if you are buying you can find the cards for cheaper on other sites, and if you are selling you can find places where they're more expensive, and they do sell. Nevertheless, great app.
Does the job for scanning large amounts of cards but has a few issues: 1) Scanner isn't 100% accurate and will confuse different releases of cards ie. Core 20 & Core 21, so you have to change them manually. 2) Camera is blurry and aggressive, so it will take photo before you've removed your fingers out of the frame or before it's in focus. 3) Prices are all over the place. I scanned the same card multiple times and got prices ranging from $1.50 to $8.00+.
Much better scanner than tcgplayer. » One piece of advice/request: set the focus to constant 10 cm instead of continuous automatic. No one is taking pictures of their cards from across the room. It would save everyone a lot of time and headache because half the time is spent re-focusing when distance is pretty much constant.
Great app, using the sort and update my edh collection of single cards. If there is a way to change the notification to greater than 1x instead of 4x it would help for this purpose! Although understandably not everyone else will be using it for this exact purpose! Overall great app and have had success scanning a large number of cards all at once which is a bonus!!! Record is 10 at once currently!
This is the first time I tried a card recognition app but I was not too impressed. Perhaps the technology is not quite there to be effective. I am sure that the person who made the program did a fantastic job and put in a lot of time and effort but some cards it gets fast and a lot of them it just doesn't have a clue. The cards in particular that it just didn't want to recognize is full art lands, anything with an old style border and a Chandra for some odd reason.
Wonderful app that scans SUPER fast. I like the range of options for price calculations so I know instantly how much my collection is worth across different markets! Please be advised that scanning the cards takes some practice, mostly for dodging glare. Sometimes the editions are read wrong so you have to edit them, but with the pure speed of the scanner I'd say you're still better off than typing each cardname individually on a pc.
Top notch collection scanner and price tracker! I would give this a 10 if I could. An auto deck brewer would be nice like on Gold fish. There is so much that could be packed into this app as in app purchasing options but I love what it does and how easy it is to use. Making multiple list for faster viewing of certsin editions and colors is a huge plus even though you can sort this way well I'm just a list person.
This app has some phenomenal functionality, the detector is astonishingly good if the cards are sitting down on a flat surface, even if there are other cards in the view. There are a few rough edges as far as navigating through the pages and having to hit play on the detector when it randomly stops. If those get fixed I will update to the full five stars. Overall great work, I love the app!
