Multicast Tester
Features:

Troubleshooting:
I don't receive my program's packets / My programs aren't seeing what I send!
There are a couple possible reasons for this:
1. Your code may be the problem.2. Your router's firewall may block Multicast packets.3. Some devices inherently block all Multicast connections. In this case you may neither receive nor send packets. This is a device problem, not an app problem. It cannot be circumvented in any way, even with root. The only solution would be to install another ROM which does not block Multicast connections.
It says that I cannot bind to a certain Address or Port. What gives?
This is not the app's fault; it is because your phone is currently using that address & port combination, OR you are not allowed to bind to that address & port combination. Typically you will see this error if you try to bind to a port less than 1024, as these ports are restricted for the operating system's use only. (This is the case on most operating systems, even on desktops).
Try using a port larger than 1024 if you are not already, or try another IP address.

Technically works great! I use it a lot for some constant diagnostics. It would be great to have some features, hence the 4*: 1. Automagic plugin (Tasker alternative) to send data , with respone variable returned to Automagic 2. Profile saving (IP, ports, incuding data to send), selectable fro a drop-down menu Many thanks!
Great developer tool. If you're working with multicasting - as I often am - it's the perfect little independent tool to run on a separate piece of hardware (your phone) to verify that you're doing things right. Kind of like a "is this thing on?" check with a microphone.
Simple useful app. I would like to have a counter for packets rx. While watching Wireshark count packets (on source IP) it would allow me to see packets missed.
Does exactly what it says it will. I was able to receive 10 multicast packets per second without missing any. Thanks!
Unhelpfully restricted to WiFi. Doesn't even allow you to attempt to use the app if tethered by usb or Bluetooth
Great tool!! It would be great if I could set the TTL in the app when working on larger networks

This app has been a huge help for analyzing multicast traffic. Usability, simplicity, ASCII, hex, nothing else like it.
Works perfectly, I'm very thankful to the dev for putting no nonsense in the app. Design-wise it needs help, besides from the aesthetics, a numeric keyboard would work much better and so bigger type; I'm not a big Android user so the only other Android device I could get was a super-cheap throwaway tablet with low res screen and it was quite difficult to read. Bigger text would've helped.
