Multigba S (beta Multiplayer GBA emulator)

Multigba S is a GBA emulator that lets you play classic GBA games on your Android mobile devices. Besides offline mode, you can also play with your friends via LAN network or Online (requires logging in using Facebook or Google account, no third-party apps needed). Note that unlike other emulators, this app truly supports online multiplayer without any manual setup or opening network ports.

As of 22 Jan 2019, most of games' link cable multiplayer modes should run in Multigba S. However, there is no guarantee that multiplayer will work 100% in every game. Please report bugs if you encounter multiplayer related issues.

FEATURES:
- Offline Single-player mode.
- Link cable emulation via LAN & Wifi Direct & Online Multiplayer mode. It is consistent, has no de-syncing problems like other emulators that use scheduled syncing Network play method. And it supports long distance (cross-countries) connections. However, the gameplay quality will depend on your network connection's speed.
- Invite others to play Online using Google or Facebook account.
- Text chat when playing Multiplayer.
- Supports saving game' states, even when playing multiplayer.
- Supports both hardware controllers and virtual/on-screen/touch based controller.
- Editable virtual buttons' layout.
- Various shader effects.
- This emulator core is derived from mGBA. The most accurate GBA core to date.

NOTES:
- Location permission is required for Wifi Direct multiplayer mode. Without it, 2nd player cannot find the 1st player who created the network game session.
- The app doesn't come with any games. You have to copy or download GBA roms to your device's sdcard. Their locations will be detected automatically by the app itself. Both .zip, and .gba files are accepted.
- Hosting multiplayer games requires strong devices. Minimum quad-core 1.5Ghz CPU.
- When playing multiplayer, second player is not required to have the game roms in his/her devices, it is only required for the first player (i.e. the host).
- To reduce lag during multiplayer, place your devices as close as possible to each other and to the Router/Access Point.
- Alternatively, using Wifi Direct option if your device supports it.
- Playing over Internet consumes quite a lot of bandwidth which is roughly 60-100 KB per second.
- Google logged in users will only able to play online with other Google users, and similarly, FB users can only play with FB users.
- The one hosting the game through Internet is required to have the minimum upload speed around 60 KB/s (512 Kbps).
- If you encounter severe lags, sometimes a simple router or both players' device's wifi restart might help.
- There are some routers that don't support direct Internet multiplayer hosting due to their Firewall settings. If it is the case, the app will attempt to use relay server to relay data between 2 players, though the bandwidth will be limited if relay server is used by too many people. If relay server still fails, you will probably see "Remote connection timeout or disconnected" message popped up on guest player side. You can try to switch roles, i.e. guest becomes host and vice versa. If we are lucky, the new host's router will allow the connection between two players.
- This application is in no way endorsed by or affiliated with the original GBA device creator company.

THE APP IS CURRENTLY STILL IN EARLY PREVIEW STATE, THUS WE WOULD BE GRATEFUL IF YOU COULD HELP US REPORTING BUGS TO [email protected]. THANK YOU.

It was nice, crisp, but in Pokémon Fire Red, battles were a bit slow, audio was weird at times and the frame rates would drop once a while time if I wasn't touching the game, the buttons could need some better looks, but apart from all that, this might be the best free GBA emulator on android! Fix the issues I mentioned and you could have the best emulator on the android market!

The emulator and its idea seem awesome! But I've had some major issues I hope will get looked into in the near future; 1. Whenever I try to host a game in multiplayer, both mine and the guest's save files disappear, in multiplayer and singleplayer mode. 2. The issue could be fixed if you implemented a 'load file' option, but with what's going on now, there are two save options: the in game one and the manual one, and they act as separate functions, which can lead to the before mentioned issue.

Great! But really needs work on emulation. I tried these online emulators by you guys and its great and hope something like N64 could be a thing in the future. But the only thing I have a problem with is a random stutter and slow down that can happen across all of your emulations sometimes. I like this so much and find it better than MyBoy but at the same time, its a bit more stable with no stutter. Hope this gets fixed but in the meantime good app to play with friends!

Online play has issues. Fails to create invitation. I paid for no ads. Not worth it. Only gets 2 stars because of its ability to emulate properly. Doesn't deserve it though cause it's gimmick is literally what it's failing to do. Online play.

This app is so close to being perfect! But, for me (when i'm the client), it suffers from horrid lag, delay, and fps drops, just like Super Mario Maker 2! Also, is it possible to do 4 player for games that support it (this doesn't impact my rating, I'm just curious)

A really fun concept, and I would love playing Pokemon emerald multiplayer, but it's horribly laggy and gets so much worse with speed up, and I need speed up to play old school pokemon. I'm excited to see how this emulator would improve in its final form and I would love to play much more of it.

Amazingly fast multiplayer emulator! I think this is the only emulator which supports multiplayer. But there are some games which have 4-player multiplayer. Please support 4 player room. It would be awesome

A near perfect experience! Only problem is that the a+b button doesn't fully register both a and b at the exact same time so playing games that require two precise Button presses (I.e tekken advance) won't be able to be used the way it was intended. If this was rectified this would be a 10/5 app!

Such a good emulator although i wish you had skins for the buttons and everything, also could ypu add buttons like LB and RA becuz it makes it a whole lot easier in street fighter alpha 3, and pls add a friend and recently played with system, becuz its hard to find american players and games without lag and a feature that allows you to add someone as a friend when youre in the game and can you add 3-4 player, whenever i invite someone it says this feature is not available for your account

The online feature is remarkable, I've been waiting that feature for a long time. I am waiting for future update of this app because as a connecting player, the lag is the main problem, although it is manageable because we are just playing Pokemon. It brings back the excitement of my childhood days.

This works to a degree, but streaming a game to the other player is not optimal for games to run smoothly. Is it possible to do this with both players connected but running the game separately on their own devices, rather than one player streaming to another?

Seems to work quite fine. 2nd player seems to have alot of problems tho like the screen showing incorrect colors and many more issues. Please allow cheats to be used in atleast single player mode so we players can unlock the entire game without having to replay it fully just to get an experince out of it

Amazing emulator! It allows you to play with a friend online for free all you want. My friend has a very slow internet and I was worried that we wouldn't be able to play well. But I am simply impressed of how well it actually performs, we played Kirby Amazing Mirrors for hours!

everything about this emulator is great but still 4 stars because I would like to see two things in this emulator 1. cheats 2. addition of extra buttons like separate turbo A,B rather than making the default A,B buttons to turbo. other than that this is the best emulator you can find especially to play on virtual trackpad the D-pad is amazing unlike in other emulators. Thank you devs for such a great emulator hope to see this emulator getting better with coming updates.

It is amazing. even though it does slow down when playing multiplayer, I'm sure local play is not as bad as signal cant be lost as easily. I hope to see more from you in the future!

Dea. S. Apr 14, 2019

Great in everyway, except ONE. It doesnt play in the background, so god forbid you get a call or answer a text the whole program shuts down. Aside from that the multiplayer is a great feature.

Nis. K. May 12, 2020

Really loved it and the way it designed.. But I have a problem that I can't invite my friends and players whenever I do that I just gives a popup saying that this feature isn't available to your account. Great if you tell me what to do or fix it.

Emulator is good, comtrols are user friendly. There's an online multiplayer option, which is great. HOWEVER, it has lag issue and display bug when I'm the client/the one who join the server. (Using Realme 5i 4 GB Ram & SD 665 processor)

Kyl. D. May 24, 2021

This is the most well put together android based emulator I have found for GBA ROMs. The interface is very user friendly and the features are superb. I don't often give feedback on apps unless it's to say I'm disappointed, but this app is really good and I felt the developers should now they created a masterpiece. So much easier to use than John Gameboy or MyBoy. This really is a work of art.

Nik. B. Nov 8, 2020

Everything runs really good. Please remove the quick load button on the top left since it is extremely easy to press it accidentally. It happened to me 3 times the past day alone forcing me to replay the same thing again and again.

Ear. J. Oct 20, 2019

I absolutely love it. The first I used it and downloaded a game. It ran so smoothly and you can turn your phone horizontally and vertically. It was just a way better experience than the other emulators I've tried.

Mat. Jul 4, 2019

Best gba emulator that supports wireless linking. One thing that could be fixed is the fact that my phone has hihg proccessing power and the game is still not running well. This is cause because the app is not using a lot of memory. Please add a memory setting so it runs at 100%.

Tsa. U. Mar 29, 2021

It was 5 stars because it was great. Now the landscape screen controller seems to only have the d-pad and L button. It hinders the experience with the games.

Sar. E. Jul 21, 2020

Seems great, but needs work. No one is hosting any public servers. Also, I can not load a current ROMs save state from another emulator which is an issue, as I do not want to have to replay entire game.

Vir. L. May 20, 2020

Finally, a good emulator for online use against your friends during Corona time when we can't meet and play locally(used to use MyBoy). Only concern is the lag when playing online, but I find it manageable against friends just playing Pokemon since it not highly demanding to drive like Mario kart. Great work devs, hope to see an update in the near future :)

Chi. U. Sep 9, 2019

I am very pleased with the performance of the app, and though I would like definite fix to the frames for multiplayer when streaming a game, it's very solid either way.

Kir. M. May 10, 2019

I loved it, the fact that i can play my childhood with others is great, the only flaw i saw was lag, which under certain circumstances weren't a problem, the only issue i have is the fact it's only two player, but most games are two player so, no fault there.
