Great tool for downloading music to your phone. Definitely worth the asking price. Be wary of the December update, though, it has some issues that are minor but a bit annoying: - UI is very sluggish, but I kind of expected it, since my library is quite large (more than 7,000 songs, of which I've downloaded 3,000). - Music Mate shows duplicates of albums, in which one instance is empty and selected, and the other is full but not selected (the songs inside the full instance are selected though). Nothing wrong with the downloaded songs, they are of high quality and playable (I use PowerAmp player). Just a bit confusing when scrolling down the I'm emailing the developer. I hope they fix these issues soon.
The app is fine and in general it works well and it's worth the money. The interface should be improved however. Currently you cannot do a select all/deselect all, or selection/deselection by swiping your finger up/down which can be irritating if you want to process multiple albums/songs or get the app to retry download and you have to select and process each song individually (so 2 touches per song - times X number of songs to either retry or remove them from the download queue...similar process for downloading, each artist/album/song (whichever way you choose to base your selection on) has to be added individually). Please add this, it would make using the app a lot more user friendly.
Edit (3/8/20): And just like that, you "fixed" something that wasn't broken. Music gets stuck in the que now. You can remove the stuck songs, but then the process starts all over with songs that were already added. Added 20 songs for free to my watch before purchasing the key. After selecting them, go into Galaxy Wearable app and select add content to watch, then add the selected songs.
This app was great for many, many years and is recommended as a companion for all android devices that utilize Google Play Music. NOTE: In its current form it does not function, however, the developer is currently working on transitioning from GPM to Youtube Music. Once that is complete, I highly recommend the paid version of this app, it is well worth the $2.99, and if the developer were to require me to purchase again I will happily do so to support their hard work and dedication to the app.
User experience keeps degrading with each update. I used to have no problems with the app, but now it will download music I have already added to the library not once, but MULTIPLE times, even after I've cleared them from the queue. It also has trouble recognizing my SD card for some reason, which means I also have to manually move the files from my scant internal storage to the SD card.
I've used this app for a long time. It worked great until the January 2020 update. My library never loads. I reinstalled an APK of the December 2019 version, and it loads my library, but it's unusable due to the pop-up saying "Music Mate recommends you update". It's not a recommendation though, because it pops up every time I hit continue without updating. I paid for a key, and I'd really like this app to work again. I also emailed the developers a few months ago, but I haven't heard back.
I saw a video on how great this app was so I got it. I guess I shouldn't have been so quick to buy it as it didn't do what I was told it would do. It downloaded a bunch of empty playlists and some songs. Then it just got stuck alternating between three songs. It never did finish. I had to force close the app. Judging from what I've now read in the reviews, the developer isn't likely to refund my purchase price even though I bought it today. This wouldn't even be a good app if it was free! Zero stars is appropriate.
The app is very glitchy and freezes non-stop. And it keeps re-downloading songs from a memory list of checked songs you've selected (which I'm sure you may have only selected to be downloaded only once and not every time the physical file is moved or deleted). Please fix these issues and I will give the app 5-stars. 🤲🏾🙏🏾
App is unusable. Performance is slow while it loads everything (why would the first screen be all your GPM songs which could be thousands...), and there's no way to scroll quickly through these massive lists. My own playlists aren't populated so I can't selectively download music that way, while the app keeps auto selecting all playlists and downloading songs I don't want. Good concept, wish it worked but ultimately just very frustrating.
The new update is a work in progress I believe and needs work. Do not update or install. The new update had music mate replicate empty playlist from Google Play music, and my music player app on both my device and SD Card. This would happen everytime I rebooted my phone. I had to uninstall. The app would also show my playlist s empty within the app.
It would be nice if there was a "Retry All" option on the Download Queue screen. Sometimes the downloads all fail suddenly and clicking each song one at a time and choosing "Retry" is pretty tedious. Otherwise it works as advertised. Edit Jan-2020 New update is plagued with problems and barely works at all.
This is the kind of App i was looking for!! Easy to download music from cloud based music to your digital music library. Only one thing bothers me about this app is you can't change the path of music directory ( where music saves ), beside this everything is perfect about this app. Thank you very much for this miracle App.
Unfortunately, even after the latest update, I have to keep my review score as is. There really is a lot of great things about this app, but in the end, it has an issue that prevents me from downloading my music to my device. The select all feature is incredible and great, but for one very important part, it warns you that it may run into issues downloading a lot of files at once because Google will block the download if it feels it is being overloaded. This would be a great place to have a throttle control of say, limit your downloads to 20 or less an hour so you don't run into Google's wrath. Still, it doesn't need this as much as a way to reset your queue. After letting the app have a go at my library, 2,600 songs, I had songs in both my download area and stuck in the queue. There is no way of knowing how many since it gives no numerical indication, but both lists scrolled quite a bit. The unfortunate part about having a song stuck in your queue is that it's just frozen there. There is no way to select a stuck song and make it begin again. So I have an unknown number stuck in my queue that I have no way of resolving. Until there is an interface that allows me to reset the stuck songs and begin again with those songs, or throttle the number of downloads per hour, then this app just doesn't work. The developer has done great work outside of that critical area. I really want to give this app 5 stars, but until this issue is resolved, this app is not useful for my needs. __________________________ Previous Review Below __________________________ Thank you for your reply! I will spend some time on your app this coming weekend and update my review based upon my experience. I am so very happy to hear this app is not done! Below is my previous review which I will update next week. It is obviously wrong about the app being abandoned. __________________________ Original Review Below __________________________ I'm concerned this app has been abandoned. I sent a message to the developer and have never heard back and the last update was back in May of this year. I had to do what others mentioned, which is uninstall then re-install after purchasing. There is no select all feature so I patiently clicked on half of the songs in my library. Some downloaded and some did not. Probably half and half. The broken ones show that they didn't download in my queue. Retrying the download just gives the same error. I have zero desire to delete everything and try again. So this app really isn't working at this point and I would recommend waiting for an update before purchasing. I wish I could get my money refunded. Hopefully there will be an update that addresses these issues soon. If so, I will update this review.
Pretty dissapointed seeing as I paid for this app after being told i needed it. Doesnt show songs in 9/10 of my playlists. Says there is 0 songs in them. Have to manually search for each song which takes for ever. Also leaves alot of songs in the que when trying to transfer them over saying unknown error. If im paying for something I want it to work.
Cool app! Very useful as well. Just wish it wasn't only limited to Google Play Music, because a lot of Music Providers bury the MP3's deep in the storage directory. DatPiff is another mixtape provider that let's you download mixtapes for free, but the mp3's are not readily accessible as the mp3 file is buried in Android's directory of storage! If they could change one thing about the app, it would be too broaden their scope to all mp3 files, not just Google Play Music, which is now defunct.
Works for downloading some of my Google Play Albums. With others though, there seems to be a glitch where a bunch of albums or songs I didn't want start downloading as well. And that's in addition to the app sometimes slowing tremendously. Alright, but still needs improvement.
awesome app all up, has some issues but it may be more due to what its doing in the background than the app itself. once you learn some tips and tricks from experience its quiet effective. if it stops or has issues just go into settings and shut down the app plus the music app and then reopen music mate, should get everything.going again.
Giving a new review because after the recent revamp/update, it has become disastrously buggy, I used to download music I purchased and then move it to my collection folder, now it keeps the check mark on music I downloaded earlier, does a search,n since its moved, it starts downloading them again, well i thought a workaround would be to clear selection before downloading, but it automatically randomly selects a bunch of songs playlists n albums and adds it to my current download queue abruptly.
Used the app to transfer songs. Work as described but came with alot of issues. First, it limits you to the amount of songs that can be transferred/converted which is fine. But then it goes on totell you that u need to purchase in order to use it unlimited. I purchased this product and have not recieved a key. I have also been constantly getting a spam message telling me to purchase the app again and again. I purchasedthis app onceandwill not pay again.Contact developer and no reply. Garbage app
It used to be good... I used download songs by checking them, I would later move them to other folders. Everything was fine. But now when I do the same thing, getting back into the the app, it re-downloads the checked songs thinking they're not there... Please fix this!
Recent update broke it for me. All playlists show empty. App becomes unresponsive to the point it's impossible to navigate. I paid for full version and used for years with no problems but now it's useless to me. Please fix it or revert to old version.
Worked well, if slowly, until the recent update to "improve playlist syncing", 1st Jan 2020, and it now simply crashes on opening after taking an age to open. Sometimes displays my library, sometimes crashes before it can do this. But it always crashes.
Overall a good app but would like to know if support will transition to YouTube music after Google Play Music shuts down this year? Update (24/05/20) After some more use I've found the app to be incredibly buggy. It keeps downloading songs that are not checked. Still waiting to find out if support will be carried over to YouTube music, I've even emailed the developer but haven't received a response.
I don't remember where I found out about this app, but I'm glad I found it. It works slow, but it works 100%. A few things to note. - Takes a while to download lots of music because it downloads them one at a time. - It downloads music at 320 kbps. - The app will periodically be unable to authenticate your Google account so it will think it's unable to download anything. This happens about every 30 minutes. Restarting the app fixes this.
