This is quite possibly the best app for learning to read music that I have ever seen. It really allows you to learn fast and it's easy to use. It accomplishes what it is ment to accomplish with no ads and no pop-ups. Its fabulous. My only complaint is, I wish it the notes you have to choose from as answers were set up a little more far apart and easier to touch with one thumb or something like that. Easier to see maybe? Idk, it's a great app though.
Great app. Simple and to the point. Has helped me memorize the notes quickly. Would like to be able to set which notes to be tested on. Would like to be able review which notes took the longest to answer in addition the actual mistakes. Would be nice to see stats of which notes I have the most trouble with. Perhaps this is already being tracked in the background and each test is adjusted accordingly?
This app is awesome. It is great if you are talking a piano class. You can customize the range of notes and whether or not flats and sharps are used, so you won't get too far ahead of your class. The only improvement i could see is a midi interface so you could actually use it with your keyboard, but that's a pretty big ask, so 5 starts for sure! Well done!
Tremendous help. For many music students, learning to read notation is often tedious and even a little difficult. This app doesn't change that but does make the process go a little smoother. The app itself works without bugs, is easy to use, and doesn't have too many ads. What ads are there doesn't interfere with the actual game itself.
This app was perfect until they updated it!!!!! Now I can't set the range to how I want... I've messed with it 20 times and it still is giving me notes way outside my range. The reference page doesn't show me what a G4 or a C3 is so I have no idea where to set it. I thought with some guess and check I could figure it out, but sadly after 20 tries still no success. The sliders are absolutely awful! Please add these new weird numbers to your reference page or find another way to incorporate custom range. This doesn't work. Because of the helpful comment i was able to set my range and I've been convinced to change my first 1 star rating... i shouldn't have to go though this hassle though.
Really nice to use this as a sightreading practise tool. As an improvement: it would be nice to see what kind of notes you miss often. (over a longer term) And then you could learn these better. Or also a mode where you have multiple notes at once and should identify them all. This would be a more real sightreading experience.
This used to be a great app, but it has recently been changed so that instead of the ads popping up briefly between games, you are now forced to watch them. I don't object to ad funded apps, but I will not put up with unskippable full screen video ads (with audio), which is what this app now contains.
This app is amazing! It gives reference to the bass, treble and alto. The quiz as well is really good as you can select which type of quiz you do in options. You can have the quiz only show notes that aren't sharps or flats, you can select which types of notes (bass, treble, alto) which is amazing! Would definitely recommend this app
Gotta say, this has been a key component in my music theory study. I often struggle with reading sheet music, but this app has and will change that. Perfect!
This app is great for reteaching myself to read sheet music! Love being able to adjust the range of notes so I can focus on a small section at a time. A lot of reviews say the Ads are crazy but im only getting them in between quizes and they dont bother me at all.
Very sleek and simple UI! I downloaded specifically for alto clef, I'm unsure why this is the first music flash card app I've found that includes it. Would be nice to see soprano or baritone clef added as well! Very well put-together app over all. I feel CA$2.59 is a bit steep to remove ads, however.
Gives you the chance to change the range of notes in the settings. Very useful for beginners and often a paid feature on other apps. Interface looks a bit dated but it works well.
Great app. I like the flexibility and how they gamify the test. I think more practical feedback in to the test results would be useful. I.e. the point system is entirely relative. I know I am progressing but how will I know if my reading is sufficient. I understand that is also relative to the difficulty of what we want to attempt but why not include some structure to define competency better.
Main problem is that it doesn't clearly tell you when you get a note wrong. Yes, your % score changes, but if you are concentrating on the staff, it is a distraction to remember what you score was and work out whether it had just gone up or down. Make the feedback obvious, in the line of sight.
The app assumes you already know the notes and it just provides with a practice mode. Is also confusing and unforgiving, it doesn't play around and doesn't provide you with any flexibility with what you would like to learn. Ideally you would want to learn the sounds, the symbols and the meaning. At least create a tutorial before throwing the user in that stressful experience where he doesn't know what's going on and notes are just flashing everywhere with the app indicating zero accuracy
It only seems to work in portrait mode and it's really primitive. After the advertisements show up they cover the screen selections and the frames remain after the ad goes away. The makes the app awkward to use. It's probably a good tool, but I will move on.
One of the best apps for improving reading music, it helped me alot when I started. I have and will recommend this to anyone learning an instrument. However an improvement would be the option to have a piano and/or other instruments to choose the notes on.
Simple, straightforward, the addition of the alto clef is very welcome. Good for people beginning to know their clefs, and the option to review mistakes a good idea, gives some time to work out some of the trickier notes when people feel a bit rushed counting through the clef during the actual play.
Hi, this music tutor app doesn't work on my Huawei mobile properly. It just showed a white screen with nothing visible. However, it played a few music notes after i tapped the white screen randomly. I hope someone here might be able to help fix this problem. Thanks.
Marginally useful for learning the names of notes, although it presents them one at a time, doesn't recognize if you play them on an instrument as some other apps do, and doesn't enforce timing. One star because they have the bad judgment to allow ads that bombard you with audio through your stereo and can't be shut off.
This app is good, effective, and simple! This app offers everything I was looking for! It's perfect for learning to read music. esspatialy the setting allow me go at my own speed and adjust for my choir needs.
Simple. Because of that it is incredibly good for what it does! This can most definitely be used to learn sheet music because of how intuiative it is! Also does have "Do, Re, Mi... Etc."! Can not recommend enough!
Elegantly simple app. However, if you don't already know the keys on a piano, this is only one side of the equation. I played for years, but my sightreading was always terrible, so this is ideal for me. Two issues keep it at 4 stars. 1. There needs to be better visual feedback when you get the note wrong. maybe flash the letter quickly over the staff? 2. Audio should play the sound of the note you select as well. This is absolutely necessary to train your ear. Overall great app.
