Mvelopes Budget App

UPDATE: I ended up canceling my subscription. 99% of my credit card transactions no longer import for my main account. Loved it when it worked. ORIGINAL: This app is exactly what I need which is why I'm so frustrated and might cancel my subscription! One of my accounts will have days where none of its transactions are imported and of course it happens to be the account I use the most. When opening a ticket about it I usually get a canned response saying everything is working.

Love this app! Easy to use and makes an "envelope budget" system relatively painless. In my opinion worth the small monthly fee. The search feature is really only usable on the web, and I wish there had been more of a free trial, thus 4 stars instead over 5. Other than that I'm very happy.

Downloaded the app then was asked which subscription plan I'd like to buy - guess I missed that in the app description - I would buy either one if the "envelopes" in the app were actual debit cards. Preferably true debit cards which would simply decline when they were empty, but I'd settle for multiple cards attached to one big bank account, whose only differences were how they categorize their transactions. Then the app could just give a notification when I overspend in an envelope.

Best budgeting app I have used, super easy and quick to assign transactions and easy to distribute cash to different envelopes through the funding plan feature. If there are bugs the customer service is quick to respond. Also very affordable

There is no way to search for a transaction. The app is good. Hatr the website!! Super frustrated w/ the website, update now collapses my envelopes so I can only see the group. I need to know what I have in an envelope when making purchases not the balance for the group. There is noway to keep the groups expanded. Also if your income is higher than budgeted you can't use the profile & in the same action fund the remainder of the income.

I haven't been able to log in for about 6 months because their system can't recognize me as a paying customer. Not just the mobile app, their own website, too. Their support team has literally GIVEN UP on me and stopped emailing. I was a subscriber for OVER FOUR YEARS.

I really wanted to love this app, as I like the concept of it. Unfortunately, the app is very buggy, unexpectedly quitting repeatedly or not syncing well with my bank acct. It has been very frustrating to use, and customer support has been poor. I emailed their support and never heard back. When it was a free app, I could overlook the frustration. However, there's no longer a free option, and I will not be renewing my subscription.

I have used this app for years. I loved it at first and was able to get my budget under control. Unfortunately, "improvements and updates" have caused it to no longer function properly. I no longer receive notices in my phone off new purchases. Many charges are recorded multiple times and I could never find a way to delete them. (Doesn't appear to be possible) Tech support was no help. I have tried to continue using it for over a year and finally had to change to a different budgeting app.

This app would be five stars if it synced across platforms. I have a samsung phone with the latest version of the app installed. Changes I make in the app to my budget are not reflected online. it is very frustrating. when I contacted support they just told me it doesnt work right now. if it was a one time fee I could deal with that, but they charge a monthly fee for a product that doesnt sync.

Not off to a great start. I downloaded today after a friend raved about this app. It is super glitchy and will not let me edit my envelope funds. Also finding the answers online is extremely difficult but the help service isn't open on weekends. For a subscription app, it would sure be great if it was user friendly. Some of the buttons/options that are supposed to be there just aren't. And I don't have a computer so this app is my only way. Please fix these issues ASAP.

I started using Mvelopes years and years ago, probably a decade or close to it. I bought a lifetime membership that has remained active despite my wandering off to try other systems. I always come back to Mvelopes, though. It's really the best app/web program I've found do do virtual envelope budgeting. I recently started using it again last month and am pleased at how the updates have made things easier and they've now caught up in technology to work well with my small local credit union's accounts. Despite the high praise, I'm also taking off one star. The loan accounts (car loans, credit cards, etc) are still very clunky and I end up having to leave those accounts unsynced. Also, they've not quite come up with an accurate way to account for incomes where you get paid every two weeks but the amount is different. I can't just do a monthly average, because then my funding plans don't work out correctly. I just put it down as two different monthly incomes as a work around.

Don't waste your money. App never worked as advertised. Requested support to fix my sync issues for 6 weeks. They never managed to fix them. What a frustrating waste of time. App is buggy, support responses are slow not a good experience. Tried several other apps that all had no problems syncing with my banks. Used the app and website over a year ago and thought coming back would be an improvement but it's much worse.

The app is horribly slow, doesn't connect to all banks and doesn't feel intuitive at all! As other reviewers have mentioned canceling from the "Free Trial" is a pain. The link to cancel via the web app displays an obviously built in message that they are having difficulty and to contact the live chat or send an email. Email does not provide an option for cancellation support and their live chat agents are completely useless as they say they have to send an email on my behalf to cancel. I wish I never attempted to try this app because now I am going to have to fight any charges attempted while I am working on confirming my cancellation which will take up my time. Even when I went to leave feedback after my chat session I got all the way to the last question (titled "Question Fourth") and upon hitting submit was met with an error page. I DO NOT TRUST THIS APP or the company behind it. It should be as easy to cancel as they make it to upgrade my subscription.

I've used Mvelopes for several years, before it was bought by Finicity (or at least didn't originally see anything about Finicity). It's a wonderful app overall, but unfortunately after years of use I am having to find something else to budget with. I've cut it slack for a long time when it comes to sync issues, (missing occasional transactions) hoping that they'd eventually fix these bugs, but they haven't. I need to know what I'm looking at is accurate and I just don't always feel it is.

I cannot get anyone to contact me back. I went in and paid for a year and can't even get it to open past the subscription screen. I went to the play store and clicked on "manage subscription" and it shows I am good until August 2021. I want this resolved. I also want the reconciliation feature we have been promised! I have been in contact with your company multiple times. I have submitted screen shots of where my payment cleared the bank. I'm always told that they are working on it. Ugh!

I love the web site, and as a companion to that, the app is okay. It's clunky, a little bit confusing sometimes, and has some minor display issues (changing the capitalization on my folder names, sorting differently than the web site if I use special characters). Overall, a usable on-the-go companion for the web app, great for a quick look at current balances and quickly assigning recent transactions, but ponderously slow for budget planning.

Oh man did I ever want to like this app. It was pure frustration between accounts not synching and the web and mobile apps being (seriously) 0% connected. That's right, they have nothing to do with each other. Call me dumb, but it took almost my entire trial period to figure out it wasn't a glitch I should keep doing everything, including just waiting, to try to fix. You even have to cancel both web and mobile apps separately if you don't want to be charged your subscription fee. What a shame.

I love Mvelopes, but the mobile app does not work most of the time. I have tried reinstalling and sometimes that works, but most of the time I just get a pop-up "An unexpected error has occurred, please try again at a later time." There is not much point in using this system if I am unable to access the envelope balances when I'm away from my pc. The app opened for me once today but I didn't even get 1 pending transaction posted and it's back to saying that again.

This app is the best of both worlds between envelope budgeting and linked accounts. It took me a little time to figure out how to manage the debt accounts and corresponding envelopes. The small modest fee each month is worth it, for it saves me quite a bit of time compared to how I used to budget. The budget planning feature is a time saver as well and fairly intuitive to setup. I have read some of the negative reviews but it is working almost flawlessly for me.

I have been using this budgeting tool for 10 years or more and have loved it and recommended it to others. But since they rolled out the update about a year ago, it has been very difficult to use, I have needed the assistance from customer service just to do basic things like sync accounts and now all my envelope balances are incorrect. I am a lifetime member so I hate to have to switch, but it has literally become unusable to me without starting over, so I guess this is goodbye...

Spent hours on the website & app trying to get them to work as intended. Mvelopes5 started the weekend I opened my account. I gave up after a few months. Might be worth it if they get the bugs worked out but take the free version for a month or 2. Once you pay canceling is a hassel with them. You have to email that you want to cancel, then you have to reply to an email received to explain why, then you need to follow up to confirm they cancelled THEN they cancel. Still charging as you wait.

I love mvelopes! It's essential to having control over your money and making a difference in how you spend it. I paid off my student loans this year!! However, The app is not as easy to use as if you were on the computer. I think they should try to better mirror the layout design of the web browser. I do like how I can quickly check my budget on the go though!

Not without its quirks and frustrations, but as far as I know it's one of the only envelope budgeting apps that automatically syncs your bank transactions (YNAB is the other). I've used it for many, many years and find it indispensable to managing our finances using the envelope budgeting method.

This app has wonderful potential, but I too am experiencing an integration issue that has not been resolved. The workaround I've been provided is not an option as I'm not able to export transactions from my bank in the format required by Mvelopes. I've paid for the service and it's absolutely useless until this issue is resolved. Good luck speaking with anyone in support. My request for an update has gone unanswered and I've been waiting in a chat queue for over 3 hours to escalate.

This app could have been great but it misses the mark. I had importing issues and couldn't get ahold of customer service for the life of me. I also had the following suggestions: - On the Home page, envelopes/env groups would be a lot easier to manage if the option to Edit-Delete was attached to each individual envelope - For default envelopes: is there anything wrong with pre-adding the Category for each of the envelopes? Having it be an extra step when it should be intuitive is cumbersome.

I have been using this app since its early years in 2010. I used to love it but would not recommend it to other users now. It has not been able to connect to my bank for over two months and customer service has been completely unhelpful. They suggested that I manually import my transactions to the app instead but the app gives me an error message every time I try and customer service only sends generic canned responses to my requests for assistance. I am frustrated and tired of paying for an app that doesn't work.

Key features removed. I used to give 5 stars TO THIS APP. IN the new platform, they removed 2 VERY IMPORTANT features. You can no longer reconcile your account. Not sure why that was taken away. The other major issue is in creating the budget. They no longer have a remaining category. This means that you have to manually add up all the budget categories to make sure you are not budgeting over your income. This is especially difficult when you are creating your per paycheck spending levels.
