MVV-App

The MVV-App is a journey planning application created by the Munich transport association (MVV). As well as the MVV-internet journey planner, it provides entire bus and train connections quickly and reliably.
The journey planning information will help you to find the quickest connection from A to B. Just enter the name of the stop, the address or the point of interest as your start or destination or use your current location as your starting point. The result includes footpath directions to your starting or destination point. You can even mark a preferred connection as your favourite. Additionally, the ticket you will need for the requested connection is shown. If you choose the appropriate settings in the menu, you can also avoid stairs.

The departure monitor indicates the next departures for each stop, including even real-time information for all S-Bahn (urban rail) trains. Entering a stop is very simple as the MVV-App knows all the stops and makes suggestions based on the initial letter(s).

You can purchase selected MVV tickets using the MVV-App on your smartphone. Register once and choose your ticket in the app before starting your journey. You can pay conveniently by credit card or by direct debit. The ticket is then automatically saved in you customer account and can be presented at any time – even if you don’t have an internet connection anymore. As electronic tickets are personalized, you have to bring your official photo ID.

The MVV-App provides you with various plans and network maps, e. g. an interactive city map, an urban rail network map (including all S
- and U-Bahn lines of the entire MVV network), a Munich tramway network map, a Munich Metrobus network map and a map of all late services.

To improve up to the minute information for passengers, we have added an interactive component to the passenger network (part of the APP). This feature which is integrated in the journey planning application allows passengers to inform other passengers quickly about bus and train delays.

Really awful app. Used PayPal or tried to. The app does not allow to register with one email and use PayPal with another. Therefore unable to use the app. Badly written

I couldn't buy ticket. I already tried 3 times. It goes to my bank app where it says process is done. But it doesn't charge from my account and ticket is also not purchased. It doesn't show any error. Please fix it.

Not good. First, asking to reach contact details is unnecessary and fishy. Second, cannot proceed to buy ticket neither with credit card nor with SEPA. Waits "redirect" process.

It works fine, but is slow and buggy. You can buy tickets but it can be a frustrating process, it does not offer Google Pay integration so you will need to type in credit card information. Even for small amounts, you need to do extra security check check like verifying the payment with your credit card provider. The app needs to be tested better and the UI updated and made faster, but just adding Google Pay or Paydirekt integration would be a big improvement.

You can't reliably purchase a ticket with this app? After trusting the app by buying tickets for several months, every now and then my tickets, even though the payment confirmation screens had been accepted with my bank, would not end up showing up as purchased. Try again, right? Until you're taking a train on a rush. I had counted on the app having my ticket after several months of having no problems with the purchases. I got fined for not having the ticket that I thought I had just bought. The purchase process looks exactly like the successful one, no error messages, it sends you to the payment provider where you confirm, and afterward, the ticket does not show up, and in fact it hasn't been charged or ordered. This is using the "MVV" ticketshop.

Slow, clunky, outdated in design, inaccurate and unreliable with departure times. A shameful excuse for a public transport app in 2021. My top suggestion for improvement would be to create a whole new app from the ground up made by people living in the 21st century. Edit to add one particular annoyance - there should really be an option to disable email ticket purchase confirmations, they are not necessary. Especially when I'm using part of a stripe ticket that I already paid for.

I can't even lauch it 😭🙈 I was successfully using MVG Fahrinfo app and decided to switch to this one because it seems that 9 💶 ticket will be available only here

server calls and purchase process do not function correctly and repeatedly time out even in wifi

Hi MVV. First of all, thanks for having possibility to use your services online at all :) Now to the criticism. Unfortunately, with the new update, the app became significantly slower. The responsiveness of the UI elements is way worse than in the old version. Especially it's annoying when I try to type the origin and destination. When app starts, there's a blank white screen, which can stay unless you switch to a different app and return. Please, try it yourself, compare with an old version.

A quite good and convenient app. Only the UI is a bit confusing: when I select trip and see the trip options there is already a some price on the right of each option that is kind misleading. I have stripe tickets usually and such price is really unnecessary. Also this "Additional information is available!" is annoying. Just make this screen clean: transport route, time and basket button to purchase ticket. That's it!

Dear developers, as much as I like the convenience of this app, please tend to the ticket module. It takes half a minute to sync stripe credit, then another fifteen seconds for the actual transaction. After that, I'm informed that the purchase has been completed, and the ticket is being downloaded. Then it takes half a minute again until the stripe... vanishes! WTH? Another sync, another minute waiting. Total time: 3 minutes. Punching a physical stripe: 3 seconds. Go figure.

The change from version 4.x to 5.x was bad for the user interface. The fonts are too big, which allows less items to be displayed on screen, and upon opening the app it no longer goes to where it was, showing a full sized initial "splash screen" for some seconds. This and the bigger fonts are quite inconvenient for the passenger specially when standing up in a crowded bus or train. Fortunately I had my version 4.x backup to revert to. Please reconsider your interface redesign.

Probably the worst transport app. It takes 5min to make a complex travel plan, one click to delete the whole thing. Buying tickets:I made an account two years ago, password recovery doesn't work.To receive the account activation email for a new registration, one has to wait 20min! Someone must have hand typed it. I have a virtual credit card, and couldn't copy the number (app doesn't allow paste) I had to switch back and forth between apps to type it. Use it only if u have 40min to buy a ticket.

It is a complete waste of time. There is two "backends" (why would i care about backends). In one of them (DB) i can't buy tickets because of a "Device identifier missing" error. I browsed reviews and tried what they suggest but still doesn't work. For the other one i need to reset my password, but the email they're supposed to send never arrives. So i cannot buy tickets with the app. And it's not like the inspectors will be considerate with that, they'll still fine you. Just don't use this app.

To be fair, it's certainly great that MVV offers a mobile app, but somehow the whole process of buying tickets feels more like a lottery. Sometimes it works and sometimes it doesn't. Error messages hardly give the right hint to better understand (from the customer's point of view) what actually failed. I think this app needs a remake.

"Bought" a short trip ticket, 2min before ubahn, process of buying went through. After few minutes I was automatically logged out by the app and when entering my data again I had to reset my password. On the request to change my password, which I could not remember previously, mail confirmation for password came 20 minutes after. And guess, on next stop I have received a fine, no data and no option to login. Inpsection does not care if online service is slow or it has some issues. Never again!

I've downloaded the app for the first time after years using Google maps & DB app combination, and it looks quite bad. Why would a transport app need access to my contacts, all files and pictures on the device? The "backend" system is ridiculously user-unfriendly.

Ilk. H. Apr 17, 2022

The app and S-bahn system does not even worth 1 star...They charge too much for this service, sorry

Ticketing is now completely broken. App crashes.

Die. H. Nov 4, 2020

I bought a ticket (Tagesticket) and it didn't show. I waited a bit, refreshed, etc. Then I bought again, assuming the previous transaction failed. The second one showed immediately. I was charged for 2 tickets!! It's a buggy app with crappy interface, really disappointing

Can't add SEPA or credit card (visa - "500 Internal Server Error") so the app is basically useless. Using the homepage doesn't help either as I get the same error there and it seems obvious that a lot of people are having this problem for a while now without a fix. I guess being a monopoly helps when you don't want to invest in app development (include UX/UI design which looks like a 10 year old webapp).....

Die. D. Mar 20, 2022

Unbelievably bad programed, way too complicated to use and just overall nothing like what an app for public transportation in 2022 should be like. I do not know how any tourist or person from somewhere else is supposed to use this abomination of an app... It is kind of representing the overall state of the munich public transportation system (mvv). 1/5 stars.

Cry. L. Oct 17, 2020

The app is disappointing. It always auto log out & when try to re-login there is always 'Server Error'. After that ticket cant be open and ask to transfer from 'another device' though I only use 1 device thru out and yet another failure as the 'transfer' always failed with error message. Somehow conductors check more frequently since the app severe failure started and causing me to be fined 60EUR twice! Went the MVV counter, though is MVV own app fault ; I still need to pay 7EUR fine each!
