Excellent application. Works well, and does what it claims to do. I'm not super keen on the look of the interface, which seems a little uninspired from an aesthetic point of view, but it is logical, easy to navigate, and easy to use. It's a solid four star app.
The app does a good enough job explaining Aurora probability. I wish it had a feature where users can confirm that the Aurora is visibly present so that alerts can be sent within a geographical area to other users. The strength of the alert could be bolstered by other users confirming or denying they are visible. Even though I get alerts I rarely see the northern lights because I can't wait around outside in the freezing cold. A user generated alert would be wonderful.
Live in Sitka,Alaska...cloud cover is always an issue. App seems to be spot on with current conditions. Gives heads up notifications.. good graphics
It was great... Used it while vacationing in Alaska and saw the lights twice... Would have been 3 times if I had figured out sooner that my phone was not allowing alerts while do not disturb was on. I added permission for the app to alert anyway, but it didn't work. Not sure if that was my phone or the app. Either way . Very happy. I knew before the hotel staff did.
I just got to experience the northern lights for the first time with my wife because of the free version of this app. I saw the notification and saw the lights outside and woke my wife up and we got to experience it together. I just had to upgrade to the paid version to show my support for this app!
The My Aurora Forecast app has been very accurate in notifying me of good viewing nights and has granted me so many more opportunities to enjoy the aurora. Great for someone like me who loves the chance to get some photos but doesn't remember to check forecasts online - just turn on notifications and your work is done! Worth every penny of the pro version to support the developers and keep this app going.
Hasn't provided notifications in months. Despite checking all settings in phone and app it runs silent all the time, causing me to miss displays. Other Aurora apps seem to work fine. Talked with the dev but couldn't solve the issue.
I been chasing the lights for 5 days from Athabasca to fort McMurray with no luck. On the last day we came back defeated to the hotel.... About to get ready for bed and ready to head back home to Washington D.C. ..when suddenly I got an alert from the app to head out. We barely dressed and jumped in the car.... And o m g.. we go it! Thanks for the app! Made the trip dream become a reality ! Purchased the pro version in appreciation .
Another solid A- app from JRuston. Quite functional with some helpful features not found in my "Official" app. I own all of the JRuston apps. What they may lack in flash and panache they make up in solid performance and security. I recomend this app.
I've had the basic Aurora app for years and bought the Pro version so that I could see the forecast. The Pro version turns out to be identical to the basic one with no enhanced features. Uninstalled 🤬
A big help when it comes to the chance to photograph the aurora. Provides alerts and forecasts to help me plan when to drive out beyond the light pollution and really see something good.
Nice program with Annoying announcements. Hate to wake up by the sound of my phone at the middle of the night ( letting me know about the aurora,,,,,. Uninstalled it right after the first announcement at midnight Icelandic time.
Awesome to be learning the night sky with this informative app! I like that it works no matter the weather and you can click on individual items to learn more.
Worth the money. It has very useful notifications and it bundles all the necessary info -such as weather- very neatly.
Reliable, easy to use and track- great app. Love the updates- reminds me to keep my eyes open and on the heavens...
Would have given a higher rating if I head been notified by the app when viewing was optimal. The paid version still has the same lack of notification.
Works great. Crucial in spotting aurora, especially when the weather conditions are fluctuating.
Works fine, but even though I disabled notifications for summer I got alerts when it already was bright the whole night.
A very user-friendly app. It's very easy to get started and with more details to explore in the app. Ads are not bothering. I had good use of this app for a few years and have now bought the pro version to support the developer. App could be better if nearby users could confirm if/when it's visible light to make forecast accurate from each area. "5 users in this area have confirmed auras are not/slightly or very visible right now" with option to change answer if the light appeared/disappear.
