To be honest I'm surprised that in 2022 an app like this one can still exists. The user experience is totally wrong. Normal navigation button are totally broken. Notifications are firing randomly and in a loop. The UI looks like came out from a '90 movie. Here we are not talking of some bug. The app needs a full rewrite with some up to date framework. Right now it is unusable.

ZERO STARS. The absolute worst app I have. In our area, Bright Horizons is one of the most expensive centers. To be paying that much MORE and have an app with so many issues is very frustrating. EVERY SINGLE UPDATE CAUSES MASS CHAOS. Other apps can update seamlessly, but not this prehistoric app. Teachers will write a note to me directly and I can't respond. The back button closes the entire app. Can't zoom in on pictures. The most frustrating is simply how glitchy and counterintuitive it is.

Edit: going down to 1 star because the app has been broken for about three weeks now. No updates about my children. What's the point of having the app if it never works. GIVE US A BETTER OPTION. Not sure what had changed but requires me to log in every time I open the app. Very annoying. Has been happening for about a week. Overall app is helpful. Hope this recent issue is worked out soon.

Update: latest app update blew up already existing garbage functionality. Seeing updates for one child but not the other. Getting erroneous push notifications for COVID questionnaire that is already complete. Timestamps for push notifications are completely off (9pm). Mostly functional but not able to get my downloaded photos despite the app saying the photos are downloaded. This used to work and somehow no longer. I've searched all file folders and the my bright day folder has no new pictures

App is pretty terrible. The whole thing feels super outdated. Navigation is not intuitive, the back button closes the entire app. The app frequently does not work so it is impossible to tell if the logged information is correct. Would not use the app if I was not required to.

New update is terrible, i keep getting pop ups on my phone to complete covid questionnaire despite it already being done. How hard is it to add a line of code to check if it has already been done instead of an auto-message asking me to do something already done? Also, back button should go back one screen in the app instead of closing out of the app entirely.

Happy to see the activities throughout the day. It serves the purpose and keeps me informed about my daughter's meals, diaper changes, naps etc. It has a great staff taking care of my daughter. I'm finding app better than the daily experience sheet for the snapshots and all the updates that they post and there always exists, some scope for improvement.

Used to be a great app. Recently, the back button just hard closes the app when looking at pics. So, I end up exiting the app several times on one daily report. Please fix this. Very user unfriendly. Update: almost a year later (5/8/21), still no fix for back button closing app. They said they are working on it. They should probably get some new help and fire current staff. Lots of replies to negative comments to email them to discuss. Why? Just read all the detailed negative reviews.

It's far worse than buggy. The app is broken. Missing class updates, multiple listings for the same child, back button doesn't work and exits the app, pictures load slowly (if at all)...

Jos. L. Mar 11, 2022

After the latest update, this app is completely useless, not that it was great before. No information or pictures displayed anymore, and I continuously receive 'covid questionaire' notifications throughout the day even after it's been completed.

2GB app and doesn't work. No notification of my child napping. Entries on food missing the "some, all, most, none". It just says "of cantaloupe"... How is this helpful? If there's an issue with your new release, why not revert back to the most recent stable version? App Support team needs to be replaced, like your app

Changing my review of 2 stars previously to 1 star. This is a terrible app. It's gone from bad to not functioning at all. We havent been able to log in and get updates for about a week or so now. Back button still hard closes the app on Android ...please please fix this. Or hire another contractor.

This app is horrible, and there doesn't appear to be any urgency to resolve the issue. I rely on these updates to know how my child is doing throughout the day, and not having them is incredibly annoying. As others have mentioned, tuition is far too high to drop the ball this hard on the app. Please do better.

I love that I have the option to have any updates on my children throughout their day. I'm very thankful for that. But this app is awful! My biggest complaint (though I have many) is that it tells me all day long that I still need to do the COVID screen, after I have already done it!

And. I. Mar 15, 2022

When it works, it's good enough, but there are so many bugs. My whole daycare ended up having issues for a few weeks over the app being out. Now I get "You are unable to log in. Please try again. 506 JWT:0:". My review is only on the app and not a referendum on the daycare my son goes to which we do like.

It keeps crashing. It's her first day and it's killing me that I can't see any of the daily reports or photos. The teachers are taking the time to update something that isn't going through. I checked in with other parents and they are having the same experience.

Chr. S. Apr 5, 2022

This app is an insult. It keeps crashing, eats my phone's battery, and lacks anything that can be called state of the art. I am very unhappy I have to use this app to check on my child. I am not sure if Bright Horizon cares reviews since this is not news (see other reviews).

And. S. Jan 12, 2022

We *really* like Bright Horizons, the facilities and staff are great. But I can't overstate just how bad the "My Bright Day" app is. It diminishes tremendously from an otherwise positive experience. Sadly, it looks like people have been leaving similar reviews for years with no signs of improvement. List of issues: (1) Photos and videos posted are incredibly poor quality. They are grainy/blurry and super low resolution (1024 x 768). On a good day we receive 1-2 photos a day, and maybe a video, but other times days can go past with no photos at all. BH team, it's important to us to see what our baby is up to. More regular (and much higher quality) photos/videos of our child please! (2) The back button exits the app every... single... time. It's infuriating. (3) Staff can leave a message for parents... but you aren't notified about it, and you cannot reply. (4) There is no other way to communicate or leave a message for staff from within the app. (5) Notifications sometimes, but not always, can take hours to come through. (6) Daily repetitive tasks (e.g. provide drop-off information / provide a pick up ETA) are too many clicks to reach and/or takes too many clicks to populate. Why aren't these on the home screen when I open the app? Why can't these be pre-filled with the previous day's data? These should take a handful of seconds to quickly do. (7) The app just looks bad and outdated. It's borderline broken. BH team, please put some care in to what really should be a significant/worry-free part of premium service.

The app was working good and is as useful as the teachers at the school use it. Meaning, if the teachers are inputting information and pictures it's great (and ours do a good job). But for the past few days, the app freezes and crashes if I try to select the daily report. Everything else works, but not this most important part. *Update: this issue was fixed the day after I posted the review. Bump up to 4 stars! More communication capabilities between parents and teachers would make it a 5.

I use the app because I have to for my child's daycare, but it's not intuitive, takes too much time to refresh, and the UI was clearly an after thought. I wish I could get notified when new photos are posted throughout the day, but it's not an option. I don't care about being notified about each diaper change. The drop off notes form labels aren't helpful. Liquids and last meal are essentially the same thing too. Needs a lot of design and content work.

Dan. M. B. May 1, 2019

This app is pretty terrible. For the high cost of this daycare, I would expect better. The functionality is inconsistent. Things disappear from the report. The photos don't always show up in memories. Currently I can't actually view the photos, as I can see thumbnails but they wont load. notifications dont always work. It's very frustrating as a parent.

When the app works, it's not bad. I love seeing pictures and hearing about my son's day. But that's the problem - the app is broken at least 25% of the time. It will work great for weeks and then suddenly stop working. Specific problems I have encountered: it will stop updating, it will not let me put info in the Notes because it is endlessly "refreshing", it won't even open the Notes or journal log, and on and on, not always all together. So, PLEASE FIX. (I've been using the app for 10 months.)

Ian. W. Jul 9, 2019

The premise of this app is great, but it forces me to login every single time the app opens (which is a lot if you've enabled the notifications!). Beyond the login credentials not being saved the app is ok. It's not great, it does what it needs to do, but the UI is not intuitive. The basics are there, but there is a lot of room for improvement.

Jam. M. Dec 18, 2018

Update: 12/17/18 recent update stopped all notifications. Now this app is all but useless. 11/01/18 The Android app is buggy and crashy. The apple version (grandparents use) seems to work much better. I frequently stop the app and restart to get to the daily summary in progress. The drop-off notes screen indicates it's ready for input, but I still get an error notice that I need to wait to input. Pictures and videos don't always open on the first or second try. Sometimes I get an event notification (e.g. nap started), but when I click on it to go to the day in progress, that screen hasn't updated to show the nap.

So promising but ultimately just missing a a few features to make it truly helpful. Overall very happy to have the app and do love getting pictures throughout the day as well as having the newsletter each day. A way to send messages to the teachers after drop off would be great (though I understand not wanting the app to be a distraction for teachers/taking them away from teaching!).

Ste. A. Jun 10, 2019

This app is almost great. A few suggestions: In the daily report, differentiate between videos and pics. Also, when clicking into media, it would be great to navigate to the next media file by swiping, rather than having to click back and then choose the next file. Give control to DL media over WiFi only. It would be great to know what staff are actually in the rooms each day, maybe at the top of daily report.

And. L. May 22, 2019

App was working fine until recently. Now it hangs when trying to click into Daily report. Tried rebooting the phone and app, still broken. please fix the bug. Update: Thanks for fixing the bug. Would be great to be able to swipe to the next picture in the Daily digest instead of backing out and drilling back into each picture.
