Getting better as time goes by. I rely on this tech as a bridge between my cameras in the field and the RAID storage I have at home for my photos. The job of keeping, backing up, and migrating digital photos only gets bigger with time. Each link in the chain needs to be as good as possible because, in fact, that's barely good enough. The latest version of the WD My Cloud app connects reliably, a big improvement over earlier iterations. Thanks for continuing to work on it!

I'm rating 2 stars because I loved the app & product when I first purchased it, I was able to back up photos & docs related to my travels remotely from the United States to my device in New Zealand & view them from anywhere. However I've since had to disconnected the device physically & upon reconnecting power & network functionality, I can't login to the cloud storage at all, rendering it useless to me.

Won't connect to my drive. App says to upgrade to OS 5,when I try it tells me I don't have any devices or an account which I do,won't let me sign on etc. Zero customer support, have since sent 3 emails with no response. This company is a joke. I try to open a ticket but it says to get prompt service (yea right) I need my firmware version . If I can't access the drive that will be hard won't it ? I now have a paperweight that has a lot of files I need. Thank you very much WD.

USELESS: Western Digital have discontinued remote access for their OS3 devices and only offer a small discount to upgrade to their high capacity OS5 drives so costs more than existing device was. WD chose to stop support for remote access but they said local access would still be available! WRONG: using this app I now have limited local access to my data from my iPhone and none from my Samsung (Android) tablet! Now investigating cheaper alternatives as WD not providing a no cost solution!

Sad to learn my phone app will no longer be supported. I don't use the cloud functionality but the mobile app is used to access media locally. That should not be disabled as I use it locally. Recently bought new drives for this nas too! Time to finally switch to qnap.

Changing to one star. After 5 years, you guys still didn't make any progress on fixing the problems and that's a shame! Unable to go back to the playing song + sharing a link get stuck are the main ones that I can think now. Great job on ignoring the production issues WD leaders. In fact you deserve -3 stars.

Now, since latest update it seems to have logged me out of my WD device completely and to reconnect I need a 12 digit activation code? Why!!!!!!! If it aint broke dont fix it. It was working fine before. Now I cant access my files. Just gets better! NOT!!!!!! 🤬

Probably the worst network hard drive you can buy. 50/50 shot if it will connect, What works this week won't work next week. I have had the cloud and live book for 10 years now and I'm done with the struggle. I can never simply log on, I have to continuously remap the drive to connect. JUNK.

it's awesome to be able to retrieve my files anywhere! Update: it stopped working, and now I have to struggle to get my files even on WiFi. I can't find a solution anywhere!

Absolutely useless. This version (OS3) worked brilliantly since installed however after a forced upgrade (OS5) I'm unable to access any saved data via the app. The data can be accessed on numerous other file apps but not remotely, which is where My Cloud should come in. The folder 'WD SmartWare.swstor' is missing from the user directories and can't be manually added, resulting in no remote access is available.

Why would you remove local access to older devices? Last proper firmware update was 2019, so support stopped 3 years ago, but now you guys chose to cut us off to make use buy your new stuff? Guess what, nope, your new stuff is either overpriced or too stripped down in features.

Your recent update has fixed a lot of performance issues I was having with the app. I'm very happy with this after struggling with it for the past year. It would be nice to see a status bar added to show active uploads and downloads; there's nothing now so you have no idea if your uploads/downloads are working. One more feature that would be nice would be to change your view within folders from list to tile or icon. When I switch view to photos it doesn't allow me to search through the folders.

was happy with the app for a while, but for the last few months it has been a nightmare. we have for the last 30 minutes been trying to access the cloud, and it just keeps saying 902 error, or when we do get in it will not play our videos now. This is happening on several devices. Just makes you want to scream. Still won't access and our internet is at excellent strength.

Works well except for one HUGE problem: The automatic camera backup is supposed to backup all existing photos when you enable it... except the upload failed. It won't automatically restart and there is no way to manually restart it. Tried reinstalling it, but that didn't do the trick. there doesn't seem to be any way to restart an upload that failed, nor does it explain the reason for the failure.

Abysmal Failure. I use this for automatic pic backups. I purchased the WD MyCloud a few years ago to perform automatic backups of the pictures and videos on my family's phones. This app has been nothing but a disappointment. When it does work, it's very slow in performing this function. I can go into the activity list of the app and see nothing but "in progress" or "failed". This is on items that are well over a month old. There is no way to jump start / restart items that failed. You don't know what has been backed up and what hasn't. There's no way to scan your device and sync it with your MyCloud. My phone is connected to wifi 70 to 80% of the day, there's no reason why this shouldn't be able to backup everything. I have resorted to manually copying everything over to the MyCloud occasionally. I just created a separate folder then copy everything over. Who knows when the app will finally get around to functioning as it should...

I think it's a good start but the app is really not optimized. For example sometimes I click on the photos tab for a folder that has a bunch of photos and the app says no photos found and to refresh. The sort function is also hit and miss, it makes the issue with the "no photos found" happen more often than none. There's also no option for thumbnail view. Other providers like QNAP have this kind of stuff.

It works... occasionally. Often enough, it just stops uploading. And then it is stuck. You can't cancel the upload, you can't resume it, ... you can't do anything short of uninstalling the app. And why can't I remove anything from the upload queue? It's like they stopped developing it while it was still feature incomplete. Just stopped bothering.

Good idea but seldom actually works. I bought this as I like the idea of being able to access content when I'm out and about. But 99% of the time when I use the app outside of the home on either a 4G connection or a different WIFI network, I get the "something went wrong error" . Often the issue can be resolved by rebooting the device, but if your 2000 miles away on holiday that's not really an option. Thankfully it's inexpensive so it's not too big a loss, and when it does actually its good.

I managed to figure out how to get the app to work, but it's not very intuitive. It seems programmers put in the minimum effort and didn't consider what functions would make it easy and convenient for users to use and organize their files. The backup function doesn't give you any options for folder naming or filtering to only backup certain file types, it backs up ALL files and folders on the card. Could write more, but limited here to 500 characters. Just a poorly planned and written app.

It isn't very user friendly. It should be easier to pick and choose which folders/pictures you would like to back up within the app. Also, if I choose to auto back up a folder and for some reason it doesn't back up fully, it won't continue backing up from where it left off. E.g, there is a folder with 200 pictures. I close the app or lose wifi in between and it only uploads 100 pictures. When I go back into the app, it does not back up the remaining 100 pictures but rather backs up newer pics.

This app is a little less than useless to me. It shows only icons, not previews, of my photos. I can only see files of I select All (Photos, Music, and Videos all say "No file found"). It might be good for automatic uploads, but that's not what I wanted to use it for. What's the point of having an app with access to all of my photos if I can't easily find the photo I'm looking for?

Android app no longer works correctly. Always says "Something went wrong" Were having trouble connecting to your device. Make sure the device is powered on and connected to the internet. Ok my device is connected to the internet and powered up. Please fix this app. Old version worked just fine. Update: After uninstall and clean install of app seemed to have fixed the issue.

Works great for me, unlike the most unreliable Lorex Cloud app. Stay away from Lorex. Their app is extremely unreliable. If you are traveling away from the system, and you can't connect, too bad, you're out of luck, because you need to be with the system to have tech help you troubleshoot the problem. If I was with the system, I wouldn't need to use their app. The MY CLOUD app ALWAYS CONNECTS AND WORKS GREAT.

Had no trouble setting up. Probably excellent if you are just storing images and want to access them from any device, anywhere. Otherwise very limited, at least for me as a writer. No search facilities for documents or other files. Several minor bugs. Could be much better with a modicum of refinement. Rather disappointed with WD, I expected better.
