Truly one of the most confusing apps I've had the misfortune of using. Terrible user experience. So difficult to find the info that you need, or find where to make a reservation. And when you eventually find where to make a reservation, it always kicks you out to the website, where you can't make a reservation. So buggy on the back-end too. Between losing travel group members to completely losing park bookings. How this got approved is a mystery.
Sorry. This app is terrible and complicates things beyond their due measure. It is extremely confusing and not at all intuitive. It actually slows things down and causes loss of time. We would get food 5 times sooner by just coming and ordering than by doing all that through the app. It is not at all easy to use and even worse in finding what you want.
Potential to be great. ALL map functions need work. Walking directions did not work a single time. More filter options needed (ex. Height requirements for rides) Lightning lane and genie aren't as helpful as I thought they could be. The dinning options were fantastic and worked as they should. Reservations, menu visibility and mobile order were all very helpful.
Loved this app when I went to Disney last. It was perfect and hopefully will be again this year. But I do have an odd question for @disney. When checking queue times, I clicked on the Remy experience at Epcot and he suddenly popped up and rolled a wheel of cheese across my screen. I have never been able to replicate this again. I must have tried 100 times. Please Disney how is it done ??
Was in the process of getting lightning lane for rise of the resistance, I was two steps into the process and the app froze and instead of getting an early time I couldn't get one at all. My wife was able to at 8pm. Also the app freezes and crashes about 90% of the time when you try and click the resort button. And wait times for the chat average 2-4 hours for help.
This app has an obscure glitch. On my Galaxy Note 8 I like to organize my app icons into folders. DO NOT DO THAT WITH THIS APP. For some reason it cause it to disconnect from your reservation and park plans. Was having trouble finding my reservation info. Uninstalled and reinstalled. It worked. Moved the app icon to a folder and lost contact with my reservations and plans. Moved the icon back to the app tray and it started working again.
User friendly, provides very accurate information, excellent tool! The only thing that was difficult for me to understand was the directions to the rides... the app didn't move with you like you're used to with apps like Google Maps. But it doesn't bring my star rating down at all. I just ask any cast member!
While on holiday. Three days in I had to uninstall and reinstall while at parks. It's useless. My phone had been updated. Doesn't show bus times anymore and freezes constantly. Even throws me to different screens like unlock my door. Says I don't have a reservation, but when I reenter my confirmation number, it says I'm already linked but won't work. Uploaded it three times! Each time something is wrong. Can't check in or check my days booked (by a Disney agent over the phone)!
Absolutely unusable and buggy. I've developed mobile apps and I'm more than familiar with app design, and navigating this app is almost impossible. In addition, you can't actually make any reservations ahead of time. As soon as I try to book a reservation, it changes the date to the current date, which I don't have tickets for so you can't make a reservation. It also won't let me remove anything I've added to the calendar and it crashes constantly.
It took us the first half of our day to try and figure out how to use the app, and then once we sort of got the hang of it it continually crashed. It was the only way to book lightening lane rides, and would tell us there is an availability and then one we clicked on it say it wasn't available. Overall the app made it harder for us to plan and enjoy our day, and being dependent on it greatly detracted from our experience.
For some elements of your Disney World stay the App is great. Seeing live wait times and being able to plan your rides and experiences in the app is a real help. The map feels like it could be more intuitive. Some items such as making your park reservation also direct you out to the website which you would have thought could be handled within the app ecosystem.
This app has many good things about it. It allows you to create a mobile order and mobile check out so you do not have to wait in a large checkout line. That's the only good aspects. The app is absolutely unsuable. The wait times are constantly wrong. The app can not recognize park hoppers. I will not let me change my genie day to different park even though I am at this park. It has cause me to lose sleep waking up early to book LL passes. It won't let you choose the time either Unsuable
This app could be great , I thought it would make holiday easier but it was frustrating at times . The GPS has only worked twice to get directions. Opening door via app has only worked a few times. Ended up going back to a normal map & a room card. The lightning lane has been glitchy a few times , "not eligible to do this at the moment etc..." I would rather a traditional fastpass. Lightning lane is good when it works , it should let you book more than one ride at a time .eg morn & night
I love this app. The interactive maps and wait times are so helpful. It could be a bit easier to navigate in the app, but it's very useful for navigating the park, especially for someone like me who has gotten lost in Disneyland before. Update: I'm in Disney World and realized how terrible this app really is. I "linked" both tickets but that means nothing. The map doesn't help much here, and could really benefit from at least showing the bathrooms.
I was told when on the phone with Disney initially making my reservations that I could make payments for my hotel, etc, on this app, but I spent over 2 hours exploring/trying and ended up calling them back. Was pretty frustrating. Also, I have 2 hotel reservations for the same trip as I couldn't decide: I have synced reservations but only the first one shows up in the app and transferred to my calendar. Also pretty frustrating. Kinda glitchy in small ways, but, overall, great app.
Map is unusable. Honestly the map really makes or breaks the experience. They invested very little effort in the map experience. You can't pan or zoom, it's always going random directions. You don't know which way to go, it let's you get near the edge of the screen before it even slightly moves. Horrible experience.
The app is confusing and not intuitive. It also seems to get stuck or throws you out altogether. I am not sure I understand what the differences are between Genie + and LL. The other person in my party cannot pull up our reservation on her phone, keeps getting a loading message. I am also not pleased that everyone in the parks will probably be on their phones and not watching where they are going. These are only a few of the problems I have had.
Often breaks and/or requires a complete reset. The app itself is a bad idea. Everyone going through the park trying to do stuff on their phone now. Bad enough without EVERYTHING having to be done through the app. So windows mentality. Reboot (or uninstall and reinstall) fixes everything, right? It's not just me. There a running joke about Disney IT from those of us who know how IT *should* be done and many others who have to use products that work maybe 60% of the time.
Amazingly terrible digital experience and overall app. What a disappointment Disney is in this respect, especially when compared to the overall exceptional quality of parks and rides. Maybe get the Imagineering team to overhaul the overall experience instead of whomever is doing it now. Tickets cannot be linked across platforms and ticket holders, think about the fact that families come to the parks, it may make sense. Errors, app crashes, features and functions fail. New meaning to "Amazing".
App constantly crashes, lay out is poor, and wait times are inaccurate. Very unhappy with this app and the park in general. When the genie pass works, things are very smooth. But when you are waiting and giant groups somehow got lightning lane passes that weren't available all day, it is disheartening. 2-stars because when it works, it's great. Problem is that the app rarely works.
Very hard to navigate, very hard to use, crashes often when you need it the most. Search feature fails. Only used because it's a necessity for the parks. With Disney's profits every year you would think they could hire a company with half a brain to build a very user/family friendly app to make their vacations easier.
The app in theory is great if it functioned properly. The app kills the battery life on your phone, and crashes all the time. It's frustrating enough that most quality food options require reservations, but when you are almost done making a reservation and the app crashes. You have some work to do on this Disney. Everything has been an exceptional experience except for the app and dining reservations.
This app does not function well at all. The home screen is difficult to navigate away from. The Genie+ tips are unecessary, unhelpful and requires a $75 fee that must be paid to use Lightning Lane (which you also pay for when you choose to use it). Overall this app is very frustrating. The app is pre-populated with information I do not want or need, such as showtimes that I am not interested in. A good app will provide easy to navigate options and allow me to determine what is relevant.
This app is clunky and does not present a helpful or intuitive view of your park options and plans. It's not immediaclear where to go to reserve lighting lanes or Genie + options, and the recommendations end up showing up higher on the feed than your actual plans which makes it confusing for a quick view. It's nice to be able to use mobile orders for food and to see estimated ride wait times.
Not intuitive at all. Have to navigate back and forth between options and and most screens show little to no new info. So you then click back to the previous screen. Your itinerary should be always one click away. Many times with this app you can't get to it. Very frustrating. Disney can do better.
This app crashes and locks up more than any app I've ever used in my life. I just find it completely frustrating and can't believe that Disney puts their name on this. The UI and navigation is fine but there is something bad wrong on the back end services that this app is supposed to be working with. Such a great opportunity to put a usable tool in every customer's pocket but it isn't being taken advantage of by Disney with this terrible example of usable tech.
Definitely needs a UX overhaul, as the app was very clunky to use. Took several days just to figure out that you could schedule park hopper plans. Constant crashes, not all quick service restaurants listed (only ones that you can mobile order from). Good luck unlocking your door using the app if your phone has a case, would sometimes take 10 minutes just to do that simple action, sometimes requiring a full reboot before working. Unsure who thought this is better than using a magic band.
Awful system. App locks up and crashes. The app is not intuitive at all and makes everything more complicated. When you try to add a lightning lane, it will sometimes just stop working and go back to the TIPS page and you can't tell if it went through or not. About the only part that worked well is restaurant reservations. Nothing works unless you stay on property. So disappointed in Disney.
