my Driving Discount - Intact

The app is pretty bad. When I start the app and go on a drive, the app will say it's recording. By the end of the trip the app will say trip recorded. When you go into the app to check your progress the app will stop responding and all your trip recording(s) will disappear. I've contacted them multiple times to fix this issue, but they'll only give you a list of options to troubleshoot the app yourself. In conclusion: don't bother with this app. Huge waste of time.

This app needs work, no question. It drains the battery hard, so plug in while driving. It does use data, but it's minimal. I haven't had an "incident" yet, despite having to stop short a couple times. (Low speed at the time probably helped.) Know what they're looking to hit you for (Fast starts and hard stops) going in and you'll be alright. Review your trips and tell it when you're just a passenger. It's tedious, but kill it when you're not driving to save battery and reactivate each trip.

It recorded most of the trips (Only at the beginning, read on). I close all other apps before a trip, which may help. But it definitely has its issues: 1. It shows you have an event (hard brake, or quick acceleration) and reduce your discount quickly, without any real hard brake or quick acceleration. I drive a Prius most of the time, and almost drive like a grandpa. But still get event about 1 out of 5 trips. 2. It always runs in the background and uses more battery than the Android screen, unless you force close it. Probably not worth it. (Update - It's getting worse. Not recording trips any more only a couple days after I wrote the previous review. 220km trip wasn't recorded at all. This app is a joke.)

This app crashes daily. It records 1 trip, then stops recording. The only way I can get it to start again is by uninstalling and reinstalling the app. I have my location as well as all other permissions enabled. Basicly I have to download the app daily. I have tried sending an email to tech support, but no one answers. Can't wait for my 6 months to be up!

Has anyone had success with this app? Had it on another phone for a few months, only recognized 2 trips and had no data on them. And the distance tracked was off. Got a new phone, installed the app again and used it last night. Everything was up and running and it logged 0.7 kms of a 50 km trip. In the middle of the trip. Useless so far. Hoping it works eventually. I want 25%off.

The idea of this app is great, download it, track your driving and get a percentage off your monthly insurance rate. Seems simple but nope, the app is constantly running in my phones background (as my phone constantly tells me) but it doesn't log any of your driving. Having to delete the app and log back in everytime I want it to work isn't just inconvenient, it's also extremely irritating.

Horribly out-of-date app that doesn't work nearly as well as it should. When I open the app says it's meant for an older version of Android and suggests updating to a newer version that doesn't exist. The app will work for about a day or 2 and then it stops recording my trips. The only solution is to delete and reinstall the app every other day. Update: after averaging 1 event a week, I recieved 8 events in one 20km trip. Same route every day. Completely ruining my driver score. Absolute trash

This app has now twice registered a left turn as rapid acceleration. I'm not sure it's the app or how it interacts with my phone, but it really makes it hard to get a fair value Since I posted this there have been more errors. The app has recorded a trip when I was sitting at work and on my wife's phone she has continually had issues recording and sending data. Even though the app is running. We have followed all the steps many times to try fix the issue. I think the errors lie in your app

This is app is just a tiny bit problematic, to say the least. It crashes daily and will only record one or two trips then it stops without any warning. I've probably had to delete and reinstall the app at least a dozen times because of this. Even the odd time it does decide to work, it still doesnt work properly. It sees basic driving such as accelerating to change lanes on a freeway as an "event." As a result, I now have 13 events and counting. More trouble than it's worth, plain and simple.

This app is absolutely ridiculous. It is constantly getting upset at the occasional hard stop or acceleration onto a freeway or basic driving. I don't know what world this software is designed for but it's not this world. All it really wants to do is look for a hard stops and starts which it defines as anything more than 12 km per second change one way or another and that's ridiculous. You have to sometimes accelerate faster than that and sometimes stop faster than that.

This app is nice in theory, but it doesn't work. It did not matter what I did, whether I had my location services on or my wifi on or off, it did not recognize when I was in a vehicle and the one time it did, it only recorded 30 seconds of the drive before shutting down. When I contacted customer service they told me to adjust my settings, even then I got no results. This app isn't worth a "possible" discount.

Totally unreliable. I don't trust anything about this app. It often doesn't record trips, and gps data is all over the map (literally, it showed my driving path going diagonally across a bunch of houses, which would be very difficult to actually do but they wouldn't remove the trip. Another time it claimed 145 events in one 150km trip which is definitely not accurate, but my events went from 16 to 161 and they told me there was no reason for them to believe there was a gps error. Rude).

This app is garbage! Its hit or miss that it even starts recording a trip and when it does it start recording a lot of times I'm still left with "no data" or that it doesn't accurately measure "events". I've had trips where I know I didn't stop too fast or accelerate to quick but it shows up as events in my trip, yet on trips where I knew I had to slam on the breaks or speed up to make a turn etc it shows no events. It also doesn't explain what any of the events mean. Like what does "rapid acceleration(low)" even mean so I can prevent doing it again. I also noticed that its pretty much impossible to get over 12%. I'll have 15 clean trips in a row with no events and it won't go up past 12% yet I'll have one minor event and it will instantly drop to 11% and take forever to get back to 12% with no recorded events. This app feels unfinished and is really bad at tracking the few things it claims to do.

Absolutely terrible. The software is deeply flawed. There are inconsistencies in recording constantly. The concept of a discount for good driving is good, but this app is never consistent. My driving patterns hardly change, I'm a very safe driver, and it will flag things seemingly at random. My discount sat at 25% for weeks but blizzard conditions on a single day dropped it significantly. No consistency recording in harsh weather conditions either. No way to appeal. Absolutely don't reccomend.

Great idea, terrible execution. Some tips though for getting a good score though: When merging onto a highway, go a quarter of the speed of the traffic you're merging with so that you don't get an acceleration flag, and when pedestrians try to cross a road - just run them down so you don't get a braking flag. Also, definitely don't have a night job, cause driving when there's no other traffic on the road is a major no-no. Personally though, I'll take a bad intact score and not get anyone killed

This app is terrible. If you really want to track good driving you need to record more than harsh braking and rapid acceleration. It often does not record a trip even though it is open and active. I've had random incidence of both recordings when I've been travelling in free flowing highway traffic. I've noticed that these random recording seem to occur near overpasses so I suspect there may be a signal loss issue. I get the idea of this application but the execution is aweful.

I have been using this app for approximately 6 months in March and have found it to be fairly accurate, although I have had to ponder a couple of "events", but overall a good app. I have had 2 instances when I had to call in about some unlikely events,(many hard braking or fast accelerations in a very short period of time) and both times they were looked at and adjusted. Yes,some trips were not recorded,but the FAQ's answered my concerns. Not a perfect app, but overall I am happy with it.

I have only been using this app for a couple weeks. I have had 2 "events" of hard breaking in that time. Hard breaking as in the person in front of me stomped on the breaks and so did I, or the app suddenly decided that I had a breaking event (when I didn't). Another really infuriatin thing: it seems to not record if my screen goes dark. It will literally only record for the 5 minutes that my screen stays lit when not in use. I have to play youtube videos and use a lot of data just to use it.

**** UPDATE ** I've been using the app now for a couple of weeks, the I can get it to work is by uninstalling then reinstall before each trip. The app definitely needs work because it is a huge waste of time having to reinstall every day.. I've been trying to use the app but like everyone else it does not record my trips or it won't sign in . I've called numerous times to tech support but it still won't work properly.

Just gonna add to the one star reviews. The app is awful to use, I have had nothing but trouble getting it to record trips. It needs supposedly to have everything on your phone set at optimal, which is annoying because your phone then uses copious amounts of data and battery. And when it does record it's only recording accelerations, so if you brake and accelerate at what is a normal pace on a red light it takes % off your discount. 0/10 intact.

This app is insanely poor, constantly crashes, almost never records your driving, constantly comes up no data. And if by some miracle it dose record were you have driven it only will come up half the trip. Or a small portion of it. Only a handfully of times in the last few months it actually worked the way it was supposed to. Almost every trip (if i remember to do it) i have to uninstall and redownload, even then its less than a 50% chance it will work .

this app continually fails, freezes or wont record trips .I've had to uninstall and install at least five times in three months. I have one issue where it said I was breaking heard and accelerating fast intersection of Highway that I was never on! although they took it off my account when I call to complain. but I asked how often it happened, and I was told it happened quite frequently, and they were trying to fix the bugs.

Generally, I like the app cos it helps one to be mindful of driving habits. I think the app records events inaccurately. In about 1,000km, I've had 5 events, 3 hard braking and 2 rapid acceleration, all of which happened during turns, but none of which I could recall. This morning, I did a hard braking on the highway in reaction to a hazard ahead of me but surprisingly, it was not recorded. The app definitely needs a fix to avoid false positives and negatives.

I wish I could give this app 0 stars. I won't get started on the flaws in concept, but this app just straight up doesn't work for me. I have to uninstall it and reinstall it every day just to get it to log one trip (it records once or twice then just stops working). I have spoken with the IT help desk or whatever from Intact and all my settings are correct. Shame on Intact for baiting customers with this useless and inaccurate application.

This app makes me more conscious of how I drive, which is good - but it dinged me for a fast acceleration and a hard braking when I was in busy traffic. It is not feasible to drive like a granny in rush hour. It stops recording trips when I put the app to sleep via my app optimizer (which keeps flagging the app as draining my battery - which it does). I discovered this by accident and had to uninstall/reinstall for it to record again. Can't wait for my minimum time period to be done.

After 9 months of using this app and finishing the tracking period,I have to say that I will quite enjoy getting a discount on my next renewal, while not doing much for it. The app is a fairly sensitive to braking and accelerating, but once I figured that out it was, in my opinion, pretty straight forward. There were little glitches here and there when it comes to the app actually tracking trips, but overall it worked well for me.

Definitely annoying and gimmicky... I have gotten a few "incidents" of hard braking and accelerating when there was nothing abnormal, abrupt or unsafe. You genuinely need to drive like an absolute grandma to maintain the discount, so it's just frustrating. Be prepared to get tail-gated and cut off by other drivers during busy traffic... which in turn will cause braking incidents. And that is when the app actually works. Constantly reinstalling, etc. Easier to switch insurance companies

It's not as bad as people say . You actually have to drive good tho . Kind of like you're taking a road test all of the time. I have a big truck though, so I have to go slow anyways. In my case it doesnt bother me. Only problem I have is that the app will sometimes stop recording trips (due to me force shutting the app, or having my phone in power saving mode (android)) . Thus I have to uninstall the app and reinstall again for it to work properly again . Also the app must he running 24/7 .

This app is very frustrating. Constantly crashes, won't record data, makes you have to have to reinstall every other day. It is super sensitive to breaking (will lower your discount) and even pot holes. The idea behind it is good just crappy app to go with it. Unfortunately if I don't have it my insurance is way to bloody high uggg the frustration.

This app periodically just stops recording trips and I must wipe the cache and data and reinstall the app to make it work again. When I reinstall it the app says that it wasn't designed for Android 10 (the current version?!?!) Not updated in years... When it does work, it records very poorly, adding events like hard braking that never happened (not that I braked softly, but that I wasn't braking at all and it sees a hard braking event) or completely missing me slamming on the breaks or the gas.
