Updated 1/11/20: Upping my stars from 2 to 3 App seems to work now but 'Favorite Courses' is only populated with 2 courses with lots of blank lines between the two on the screen. Original review - pre- Jan 8, 2020: Sorry, NCGA, you may think you've fixed the bugs in the new version, but it still crashes. And Google Play does not have an 'update' option, so something about how you're posting the new version is not working.
Installed the new app as per NCGA email newsletter apparently because of the new handicap system they encourage this new updated app. So I uninstall the original one which worked and then installed the new one the updated one as they say and it doesn't open up into anything once it's launched it's a blank screen with NCGA only on it. Also, does not work in full screen as it is suggested underneath NCGA. Well, uninstall this one too! Will stand by to hear what's next. Installed on the 8th, good!
Update: It appears the development team fixed all three faulty functions (post score, crashing issues etc.) One last thing to fix that would make this rating a 5. I have an NCGA member friend who I am unable to add as a "partner" off the hamburger menu via the name search. I have another friend that I couldn't add as a partner from name search, but could add from the GHIN number search. The friends don't appear with the last name search. Have you migrated all members data to the new system?
I have an Android phone. I have installed the app. Added My GIN number and last name like they asked for. It crashes in one second. Never opens at all. I have uninstalled the app and reinstalled the app and rebooted my phone multiple times. The app does not work at all. Is it because I have an Android? Can anyone help? This is actually ridiculous that people go through this nowadays with all the technology, knowledge and money that people have.
How do you update the app without losing all of the partners data you have put in? Can you up date without uninstalling and then reinstalling? Done it twice with no change in function. Still cannot calculate partners COURSE handicap. Just get index??? but a lot of data re - input ?
Course handicap via Recent Courses - click a recent course and you just stay stuck on the page. Hole by hole and hole by hole stats do not work for any Norcal course I've tried. AZ and Nevada seem to have sorted themselves no prob. You can do the bear minimum - post a whole score - and it looks nice. So give it an optimistic 2.
The app can't function past its basic opening screen. Closes out when trying to look at hdcp calc, partners, favorite courses. We've been forced into this new horrible system at least fix the app so we can use it.
App would not auto- update through Google Play Store. Had to uninstall and reinstall app to get fix for adding playing partners. If you're still struggling with that problem, try an uninstall/ reinstall cycle and see if that fixes your issue.
Cant see scores... NCGA posts tournament scores. When looking at the main screen with 20 most recent or other options it shows course and date slope etc but not the actual score posted. I have tried every option that i can see to try. What am i missing??
Update to previous review. I updated the app using Google Store. I restarted my phone. I can now search for courses and change the State. Still leaving 2 stars off because it still freezes at times
Doesn't work half the time. It opens fine but select a task and all it does is tell you its searching. Have uninstalled and reinstalled several times, same results.
The new platform is worst! I know some smart-guy want changes, but it makes even worst than the simple, direct access NCGA website. Its very uncalled and difficult to post scores without going through cellphone channels, go through club machine. What happened and wrong posting through personal computer?
Despite using the search function and picking a course and set of tees the app will occasionally post the score as a custom course with strange rating/slope. Why? Also, why doesn't the search default to California?
Still having issues. Kept crashing. Cleared data and now the post score button doesn't work after you enter score type and date.
The whole system was down due to the change over to the World Handicapping system from 1/1/20 to 1/6/20. It should be available later today. Once this update is done, try again it is a great app.
Confusion g at times (how to add favorites, etc) but over all nice to be able to post without having to go to shop. Like I can find up and coming events.
I can not get to the site unless i go to the play store every time i need to post. I keep trying but still have the same problem
Adding partners in handicap calculation doesn't work (not show up except mine) - all partners are active ncga members and found them okay with names but nothing show up after adding.
Can't get by opening screen. Can't post scores, etc. Kicks me off app. Very poor. John
Course handicap calculator refresh doesn't work. Need to delete a partner golfer and re-add them to get an updated index
Wont allow posting of golf scores and HDCP lookup. App appears to still be a work in process.
App does not have follow feature. App is not as good as the NGA app. It is feature lacking
Updated my app and every time I try a part it says "Stopped Working" so can't use.
What is the point of this app? Has not opened properly in forever. Should say opened at all.
The new app doesn't work. I tried to logon with my ghin# and last name and it returns "No golfers found." Today is Jan 11. How much longer will this nonfunctionality exist? You get 1 star for now.
Does not allow a score to be entered. App closes when you hit that button
I keep getting a message saying MYNCGA has stopped and cannot post a score. John
It is a little buggy. Sometimes you have to enter the date twice or post a score twice because it didn't post, but for the most part it is convenient to post a score with the app. With the app, I can post right away. Also, having all your data in the app to show at tournaments is the main plus. The one thing is that I would like to see it that your handicap updates immediately after you post a score. Not quite sure if the app does or not, but I don't think it does from what I observed.
