My UV Patch
The patch is a transparent adhesive that, unlike the rigid wearables currently on the market, stretches and adheres directly to any area of skin that consumers want to monitor. Measuring approximately one square inch in area and 50 micrometers thick
- half the thickness of an average strand of hair
- the patch contains photosensitive dyes that factor in the baseline skin tone and change colour when exposed to UV rays to indicate varying levels of sun exposure. The patch partners with a smartphone app. My UV Patch app allows the user to scan the patch. It analyzes the varying photosensitive dye squares to determine the amount of UV exposure the wearer has received and encourages sun safe behavior. While previous technologies could tell users the amount of potential sun exposure received per hour, the sensors in the My UV Patch measure actual UVA exposure while extrapolating that of UVB rays for a more accurate reading.The app will analyze the amount of UV received by the user and provide guidance on the safe sun behavior (by telling them if they are safe or at risk). The app also provides information about local weather (sunny, cloudy, geolocalized temperature etc…) and the level of UV, as well as the level of pollution where the user is located.

The sticker didn't come off the backing properly & resulted in me carefully smoothing it out and spending a half hour to get it proper on my arm. Then the app wouldn't recognize the sticker at all. Decided to read the reviews, and I feel as though L'Oreal just collected a bunch of data and now we've given them permissions to our devices. What a crock of garbage.
I have been trying to use this app for hours and have had no luck. It keeps telling me that the UV database is currently unavailable and to try again in 5 minutes. I have had no luck, and will give up soon. Very disappointing!
This stupid app does not work on my phone. It starts the set up, asks me my name and then it stops... Nothing else happens. I have the patch and it's useless. #notimpressed
Disappointing, unfortunately. The app isn't working as it's not connecting to UV information, so I just have a sticker on my hand. Giving up on it.
App may be great but wasn't able to test it as the patch didn't stick and withered away at the first shower!
the app doesnt even work. constantly says cant connect. this was a waste of my money buying the stickers to better my health. Dont waste your time

Adding your kid's e-mail just to start the app? Crazy logic ... the sw has no chance.

It doesn't scan the patch, be it in direct sunlight or not.
It doesn't give me the option to get a patch how am I supposed to do this with out a patch ? Some one please tell me it would be very helpful
Trailed the app for a Social Soup project. Downloaded the App 2 weeks ago and uninstalled and reinstalled today as I thought it might fix the issues I was having. The App couldn't connect to the internet and wouldn't scan sticker which is the whole point of the app. To top it off, it crashed regularly too.
Useless, trialed for Social Soup app crashes constantly. App wouldn't recognise the uv patch until after the 15th go of trying. App keeps asking for a internet connection when my internet connection is on and working.
Got to trial My UV patch through Social Soup. App kept freezer after scanning 5 times it realised it wasnt a heart shape. Bit annoying scanning every 5 mins too time consuming
The app constantly crashes (5 times in a row at one point), and when it does stay open, 4 out of 5 times it won't detect the patch it's meant to scan. Good idea but really poor execution.
Trialled through social soup won't recognize my patch doesn't matter how luch sunlight I've used. Disappointed.
Trialles this app for Social Soup. Great concept, but I never managed to get it to work once. It would take ages to recognise my patch, then freeze when it finally recognised it.
Recieved as a trial for social soup. App kept crashing my phone and drained a large amount of battery while I was even plugged in. Patch doesn't scan. Definitely not something I would spend money on even if a good idea. Poorly executed product
Won't recognise my wi-fi connection therwdorw wont upload data on scan. Rendering this app completely useless.
I got it to work, but I can just set my alarm to remind me every 2 hours to reapply sunscreen. literally that's all this app is doing. It's a fancy interactive alarm that makes you purchase the heart stickers, "scan" the sticker, and answer a question if you've applied sunscreen or not. it doesn't tell me any actual information. The posted weather forecast including UV levels are information obtained from the Weather Network, which it says right on the app.
