My WebID

The MyWebID app, available for free, saves time and journey when you need to identify yourself. Instead of presenting your identity card at the nearest post office or bank, you can simply show your ID to one of our trained employees via a secure and encrypted video connection. The only requirements are a sound internet connection (preferably WLAN), a working mobile phone camera and your valid identity card or passport.

With the transaction number of your contracting partner you dial in. MyWebID then sets up the video call to our employee. By entering the TAN, which you receive from WebID during the video call, you complete the process. This usually takes just a few minutes.

Our employees do their best to identify you swiftly and reliably. For this to be guaranteed, they have to follow a predefined procedure.

WebID Solutions GmbH is the inventor of the video identification process and has already carried out more than 4.2 million identifications (as of May 2019).

Theoretically fast and efficient. But it can be annoying when the app refuses image recognition without providing a reason (and it then works perfectly on the web app), the service provider then needs the same photos you have just taken, and is then not able to read your documents via the camera stream (despite really good image quality on your side).

Horrible. Called from the PC, was told to download the app. Called from the app, still the identification does not work, apparently. Also, both people i talked to were not happy to work there, clearly.

When I tap 'next' it goes back to the page asking for the 9 digit transaction number ( Vorgangsnummer). Post-Ident here I come. Although I allowed my browser access to the camera, webID still couldn't take a picture.

Terrible UI, every Employee could not read my documents from their side even though my camera is perfectly fine to scan documents. The company and app needs a rework.

The app has no loudspeaker option, so was almost unusable as it needed to be held away from my face for the verification according to the associate. He suggested it was a software issue, but my phone is a Pixel 5 from Google so quite standard.

If there is ANY other option to identify yourself, take it. Getting through to an operator took between 30-45 minutes. First operator hung up within seconds for no apparent reason. Waited again. Second one claimed that the image is completely pixelated, even though I could see both her and myself perfectly. The image on my end was as crisp as can be. I am using a Samsung Galaxy S7 with a 100/40 Mbit/s connection (Download/Upload). Operator told me to reconnect. Next operator also claimed the image was heavily pixelated, and told me I should lend someone's phone. 2-3 hours wasted.

Sound is too poor. Tried 3 times with different employees and the same problem. Plus, it is now almost 48 hours and my lidl SIM is not activated till now!!

Worst costumer service ever. The people working don't really want to do properly their jobs. Tried 2 times with the cellphone and 1 with the laptop. They told me that the quality wasn't good enough on the laptop so I changed to the cellphone. The app somehow doesn't use the Bluetooth headphones I tried for better audio quality so I had to try with just the speaker of the phone. The audio quality is also bad and you can barely understand properly the person as opposed to the Windows version.

Terrible experience Zero Stars, they always seem to have problems with Samsung. Some hear perfectly with or without my headset on but then cut the call before the end of the process. HAVE TO use this app to register several services, no alternatives. Majority of associates are visibly bored (understandable) are then also rude. Rarely but it does happen on occasion that a helpful person comes on the call. 10 out of 10 don't recommend unless it is the only option, which in too many cases it is.

This app does not work... Video stops or connection breaks so that the identification process can't be finished. Only after at least 10 tries with one computer and three different smartphones, 2 WiFis and mobile data connection it finally worked. Tested everything and problems always repeated... Spent 1,5 hours with something which is supposed to take 5 minutes at maximum!!!

Use any other service! Strap your ID + video of yourself to a carrier pigeon - that has better odds of working. App is worse than useless. Does not work properly on Samsung phones. Worse yet the WebId browser client does barley work, when the employees don't hang up on you, but then they cannot read the document on any of the multiple laptops/webcams I tried. Total waste of time of ~2 hours. Even if it would work, you're giving all your information to a random person on the internet... Cool /s

Worst service ever! I was informed by one employee that Firefox as browser causes issues. The next one explained that Samsung S 10 causes problems. Though the email providing the link promises that any device and any browser work. The first time I had to use WebID it took about 5 tries. This time I am on my 6th try for a new bank account and still no success. They keep you waiting forever without any indication how long it could be. Very disappointed because they get away with it and don't care.

The App itself is okay I guess (except that it's much more invasive and cumbersome than it needs to be), but it took me like a dozen times to even get anyone to answer my video call, and then the lady who did eventually pick up was ridiculously unfriendly, literally sounding like an ill-tempered robot and snapping at me for even the slightest camera movement while I held my phone over my ID. Do not recommend at all; if you have any other feasible payment options, use those instead and save yourself the pain.

The employee spoke to me in German. I told him my German was not perfect but we could work it out. How difficult can it be? I've done this before, I know how identifications work. As a result the employee slammed the call on me without a word. Nice way of treating a client!

The App itself has no problem and works fine. The service itself however is a 1 Star. I had to wait 7 hours in the Call to get an answer, 3 hours it said I'm the next in line, so I waited three hours cause I didn't want to hung up and wait again once more
