Buggy, useless app. It pauses audio despite having no permissions or reason to do so. It requires a login every time the app opens making it incredibly inconvenient, and many of the features just don't work. Trying to unlock a door will just give a "failed" message until the app is reloaded. Terrible interface. Buggy. Overly aggressive and pointless security that makes the app worthless. The list goes on.
Has become increasingly unreliable. Remote start doesn't always work and will often sit at "Starting" for a few minutes before giving up. It also takes FOREVER to log in, so much loading. This is absolutely horrible as sometimes I have to leave my dog in my car and I rely on the app to keep the car on and cool. My original 1 star review was due to them removing the save password feature and unlocking with pin. Now it has to be finger print or manually login. I don't have a fingerprint sensor.
The new Vehicle status design is pretty cool. However, there is a clear error with my reported fuel efficiency; 18.7L/100 km. I know my car doesn't guzzle that much gas. It's closer to 9.2L/ 100 km. AND I don't like that I can't manually refresh the vehicle status by swiping down on the screen. Apparently, I either have to log out & log back in or I have to wait for the next ignition cycle. Those are the only issues I've noticed so far.
Have to type my full password to open the app every single time. Biometric login is unacceptable (stolen passwords can be changed, stolen fingerprint data cannot). Disaster of an app. Constant hanging/freezes, have to force close and reopen app 2 or 3 times every time I want to use it. OnStar service is slow to retrieve data and it often doesn't refresh at all. Features are removed unless you pay--but why would I pay for this frustrating user experience.
The empty estimate on the app is not accurate anymore. Don't like that I can't force update the current status of the car (if you know your tire may have a small leak to see how fast it's losing air it was nice to update it, now I have to wait), other manufacturers let you schedule your remote start and for how long. Just wish it was more customizable and I choose when I want an update on my vehicle. Like the looks of the app, just want more access and flexibility.
New update; remote start failure every time no matter what. Can't remote start anymore....have access to that feature with OnStar and it's $40 a month and the main feature won't work. No matter messing with settings and within close range to the SUV. Will update whenever it is fixed. Otherwise...mostly useless
Removing the PIN option has been a horrible experience for me. The qwerty keyboard is small and hard to type a password in. A PIN option was better. I have been stuck outside in the freezing cold numerous times because it won't accept my password or I have typed it in wrong. I've had to call in to get my car unlocked, standing out in the freezing weather. Please change the app to let the consumer who is paying for a service decide how secure they want their MyChevy app.
Barely useable before update, total garbage after update. Can't seem to look at vehicle status without it automatically redirecting to service. Takes too long to get vehicle status. UI is now even less intuitive than before. Things like this is what Tesla has figured out 8 years ago, what's the holdup GM? Edit: improved quite a bit over time since the broken release.
Edit: The app was broken, but reinstalling fixed it. ///// Super convenient for my 2015 Cruze. I have remote start on my key fob, but the range isn't far enough to be useful. This completely fixes that. And never get locked out of your car again! App is a bit slow and unresponsive sometimes.
I have had the ap for many years in various cars, Buick & a prev Equinox. Loved it! Recent updates ruined a good thing; PIN sign-in, remote start & lock festures, vehicle status all worked well. Then came devasting updates. My recent encounter - the mileage hasn't updated, tire pressure not current, fuel shows 176 mi. left when I filled up yesterday. Go back a few updates and restore a good working, easy to use ap. Like many reviewers, I am not happy with the results of "progress"
Once I got used to the previous version, it was great, the new one, not so much. The new version only gives a graph of fuel remaining rather than an actual amount, but does still give miles to empty. Recommended tire pressure says 34, should be 35, not a big deal, but still wrong. Fuel efficiency shows 33.6, I wish, the best I've ever had was 32.4 with pure highway driving, using premium. Don't know if this is lifetime , which is actually 25.2, or trip A, which is around 23, currently. Now it shows a problem with emission system, engine and transmission, antilock brakes, airbag system, and stabilitrak system. No codes in OBD. Is it safe to drive or not?
95% the app "fails" to do anything. Start the car, lock or unlock it, turn the lights on or off... Everything is always "failed". I have also had the app showing "critically low oil life" since I downloaded it. Funny thing is it'll show that the oil life is at 95% or 80% but always displays the "critically low" warning. Also I am on day 4 of the app not connecting to my car. I have tried uninstalling and installing it back, reseting my phone, running the app while my vehicle is on. Nothing.
Nice to be able to access features like remote start, open/lock doors, and see vehicle data, like fuel levels, etc. Tire pressure may or may not be accurate. It delivers the last known pressure. But if pressure changes from like due to a leak while the car is sitting you won't get the current pressure until the tire rotates a number of times.
Bring back the pin, you need a password to open your phone, now a second one to use the app, and you can't drive your vehicle without a key so even if someone broke into my truck it's not like they can drive it anyway. And biometrics, how much more of my privacy do you need to violate. Just bring back the pin its the biggest gripe on here. Just because someone thought it was a great idea doesn't mean it's customer friendly. Heck it's easier to get in my bank account. Get it together.
App used to work just fine, now it is spotty. When I try to log in it will say my internet is unavailable then I shut down the app and try again but it will not allow me to use any features. When I enter the Smartdriver mode it is incorrectly reading and will not keep every trip. Other features are constantly unavailable. I've tried deleting and reinstalling and it still doesn't help. I've had this app for many years and have never had these many issues.
Came to the app to read reviews to find out if others are having the same experience and it's confirmed. The app upgrade/changes are NOT working! I have to login everytime. There's no 'Remember Me' option on my login screen. I have no interest in using Biometrics to login so it should be an option and not a requirement. Remote start almost never works anymore, it says sending forever and then fails. I rely on this app and it's needs to work 100% of the time.
When we first got our car this App was great. Starting the car was easy, if I forgot something at home my partner could unlock the car put it in lock it and leave. With every update the app gets slower and more frustrating. Now we have to log in almost every time, hold the button for a long time to do what you want and most of the time it will not work. Also with the two-factor Authentication you now have to wait for an email to log in! Not sure if we will ever get another chev product again!
First it stopped remembering me and I had to log in every time. Then it quit sending the signals to my car and the only reason I got it (remote start from my office) no longer worked. Now I can't get in the app at all. Reinstalled it, still no go. They won't allow you to cancel in the app, which I guess doesn't matter now since I can't get in, but I keep forgetting to call. Money down the drain.
Slower to start than ever after this "upgrade", interface is worse than the previous gen, and if you're not shelling out for OnStar there is little of interest to owners. At least it has a searchable owner's manual you can download. Pity you can't turnoff stuff that doesn't work like you used to, it leaves the interface cluttered looking.
The developer's response to my previous review doesn't address a serious issue; “This isn’t what we hope to hear. Rest assured, our team is always hard at work finding ways to improve our app.” You can evade biometric security sign in by simply entering the running app drawer on Android. If you switch back into this app it will act as if your fingerprint was scanned even though it was not.
When it works, it's wonderful. However, unfortunately, for the past month or so it has not worked properly at all. I live in Upstate NY, the mornings are very cold here which is the whole purpose of me having this app. ☹️ And it has stopped saving my log-in info, so that I am forced to re-sign in every time. I do have an Android, but it's a brand new Galaxy S. I am paying monthly for an app that, now, never works when I need it or want it to.
So the app said I needed to update. I did that. I log in, and it says "Getting your vehicle data, updating". It's been doing this for the past 3 days. I uninstalled and reinstalled, and now it crashes when I log in which means I have to log in AGAIN, just so it can do the "Getting your vehicle data". I gave 2 stars instead of one star because the frequency of having to type in my password is improving my typing skills. I hope Chevy isn't making their vehicles with the same quality as their app..
App usually works great. However, it has stopped saving my password and the pinned access was way better way to get in. Thank you for the response, I would prefer functionality first. Then we can work on security. Or even better both and an option for the user. Man, that felt like the brush off, not a positive "We hope to fix that for all the users on here.. "
This app has suddenly decided to not accept my password, after I have changed it many times. It stopped after I used it to lock my purse and keys in my car to go for a walk. Almost had to call for help to get back into my car. Editor responded stating I can "use a password each time" rather than use biometrics to access the app. Did you even read my initial review? It won't take my password. I enter the password, the app refreshes and goes right back to the login. IT DOESN'T WORK!!
Although I see how some can say it's convenient to use remote commands from holding the app icon. It's really annoying and takes more time because it opens the app and asks for password /fingerprint. I think these should be user preferences. Unless I missed something in the settings. It almost defeats the purpose of making the change. If I have a password on my phone, entering it again to start a vehicle is redundant.
