myGovID
Set up your myGovID once, then use it to unlock selected government online services when you want and where you want. Your myGovID can be used for personal or business matters, or both. More and more government online services are using myGovID.
You can set up your myGovID in three easy steps:
1. Download the myGovID app
2. Enter your details – including your full name, date of birth and email address. The email address you use must only belong to you.
3. Add your identity documents – prove who you are with two of the following identity documents. Your details are checked against existing government records.
• Australian driver’s licence
• Australian birth certificate
• Medicare card
• Australian passport
Your personal information won’t be shared without your permission - putting you in control.
You need to be 13 years or older to set up a myGovID. However, you may need to be older than 13 to access and use some of the government online services your myGov ID can unlock. To find out if you’re eligible to use a particular service, check its terms of use.
myGovID is accredited under the Australian Trusted Digital Identity Framework which strictly controls how your identity data is collected, stored and used. myGovID uses encryption technology as well as the security features in your device, such as fingerprint, face or password. This is to protect your identity and help prevent other people accessing your information.

App was fine until now. Saying I need to update it, but I have the latest version. Seems to be sending me around in circles. Have tried deleting it and installing it again a few times. It still says I need to update. I can't access my online business services until this is sorted out. Edit - eventually sorted out. Needed a phone restart, and then had to re-enter all my security details, though it took so long to email the security code that I asked it to resend 3 times.
Appalling. Fails to verify I can live with, prevents you fixing it is something else. If it fails to verify an ID it locks up the app (android 11 oppo 74). You cant do anything to reverse it. It wont let you get to settings. The only fix is to uninstall and start from scratch (anything you previously succeeded at is now gone). I am absolutely sick of it. Sadly, I am forced to keep doing this because I have to verify ID and sane alternatives don't exist. Developers, you should be ashamed!
A nightmare to use, after trying to set this up fir a week I've given up. More often than not after signing in It gives an error response. If this is the new upgraded version I'd hate to what a disturbing the earlier one was like. It's ridiculous that we need this app to access anything on My Gov. It's a minus for me.
Been using the app for a while now. Don't have the best mobile reception but I persevere. Have no choice really. However, today it won't let me in, needs an update. Dutifully update and go to open it again, still says I need to update. Shut and restart the phone, same thing. Uninstall and reinstall, same thing. Totally frustrating and time wasting.
Updated the app on 5/5/22, and I keep getting the mess to update and redirected to app, where it only has option to open and again I receive message to update. Making life hell for tax agents. So much time waste entering email to generate 4 digit code, and often app doesn't go to the login window to enter code. Most of the time require to wait to regenerate the code which is waste of precious time. Things should be developed keeping in mind both efficiency and effectiveness.
Tried and tried to log in but to no avail. The computer brings up the code but can't get the phone to bring up the squares to put the code in. I used to be able to log in so something has changed. This is the first time I can't get on to the auto to do my tax. When you read the reviews it's hard to believe they don't make it more user-friendly, Graham.
Try to open up as soon as I downloaded it and a message saying it needs to updated came up and on hitting the update button, it takes you back to the app image with an open button......so you go around in circles! So I guess it works as well as our government departments!
This app was great when I had to set up a usi and then a few weeks later I tried to login so I could link my vaccination certificate to service nsw and for some inexplicable reason it wouldn't allow me to login. I already have mygov account set up and it works fine, I have no idea what the issue is with the app side of things. 1/2 a star. 45047 error code.
First I need to enter my email address on the site, then enter password in this app, then enter the 4 digit password on the site to get it. If you ever forget the distinctive and demanding password, you have to set up your account again which include ID checks. People with more than one words in their first name would know the frustration driving license ID check would never recongise your name. I can go on about this app but it's just a waste of time.
I believe it is a dangerous undertaking to have all my ID in the one government site. It opens up to all sorts of identity theft. It's constantly needing update with no significant information on what it is doing to my phone plus it is extremely difficult to find details of what specific updates it is doing the the website as stated to view for more info. I can't find it easily enough.
Absolute rubbish. Says I need to update the app before continuing. So I update the app. Still says it needs to be updated. So I uninstall and reinstall 3 times with the same result. Possibly one of the worst apps out there. Just more government control for no real reason, other services already existed but no let's change everything!! FFS!
Useless. I try to update but I just can't open it. It keeps telling me to update even after the update. I've tried to delete, reinstall, restart the phone, nothing. I need the app to log in for some services online and I can't do it. It's a nightmare
Having the "A newer version is available" message popped up on opening the app, and redirected me to the app store to open the app again. Tried installing the app on 3 different Androids, from 5 yrs old to the latest flagship. Got exactly the same error. As a software engineer, I would say the current version didn't even pass basic test before being released for use.
Constantly experience difficulties trying to open the app. Upon opening the app I'm asked to update. It then takes me to google play which doesn't allow an upgrade as I have the current version. This behaviour is a continual problem as it just loops
This update is rubbish. The app was out of date and a new version was available. Selected to download the app and when the Open option appeared another message said to update the app. Selected the update option and it returned me to the uninstall or Open page. From there I was in a loop. Cannot Open the app. Samsung A72.
Pain in the arse. Bad timing it doesn't give you an option to do it out of hours. I am trying to log on. If it is that important why not have it done automatically like Google and Microsoft I still can't get onto the MyGov it keeps asking to update when I have done it 4 times. The ATO will get an earful on Monday about incompetent programming from 2nd rate programmers who couldn't make a living in private industry. I am using both a new Pixel 6 and a iPhone 6s so it is NOT the phone!!!!
Useless! Keeps saying that I need to download the update, it takes me to the play store but there are no updates available so it just keeps looping and now I can't use it log in! I have tried uninstalling and reinstalling to no effect.
Installed as per instructions, on two phones, and all it does is complain that it's not up to date. This has locked up any usefulness; it cannot accept any input, nor can it update. Maybe it was put together using a template supplied by ScoMoCo Pty Ltd; it stands to reason.

Such a horrible app. Apart from the constant crashes and lagging. It's now telling me there's an update - it redirects to Google play, which tells me there's no updates. Go back to MyGovId, again, tells me there's an update. Cannot use the app at all, which is used for work.
Absolutely impossible to get in. Keeps telling me need to upgrade. When you press upgrade it opens and doesn't upgrade. Hopeless app now but was good. Stop medley with something that has not gone wrong.
Update how? I need to update this app but it won't let me and ive had enough with the constant crashing and having to log back in to just to use mygov or centrelink. Like whats the point in this system its like playing Chinese whispers with all the apps you have to log in and out just to use them and verify your identity its just a hassle and time waster I think others will agree aswell
When opening the app I got the message update the app i click on update and it shows the screen with option to open or Uninstall. When I click on open it takes me back to the message you must update the app. Cannot get out of this and open the app. Also no further instruction on what I could do under the circumstances.
Absolute trash. I have a Google Pixel that absolutely every other app in the world works on, but this app keeps telling "Something went wrong. The is a network connection issue." There's no connection issue on my end I can tell you that for sure. How did I just download the app if I have no connection??? Absolutely useless. I can't believe this app is a critical component in a legal obligation to get a Director ID. Just a joke.
