This app has lots of potential if the developers handed over a clean and open API to others like Smartthings. Smartthings works with warmup reasonably well but you have to use an awkward work around. Setup was clunky and needs a lot more work. Simple additions needed such as more photo cropping functionality for thermo backgrounds and the ability to change energy rates after setup.
The smart Geo function does not work. It worked for a while but it stopped. I contacted suport multiple times but they rarely reply. I got a reply when an update rolled out to see if that fixed it, but it didn't, and now we are back to them not replying to my requests. The electric bill can get quite expensive withouth smart Geo. This is very frustrating as the system is advertised to be a reliable one and it is nothing like that. Hope i will be able to use the system soon.
Not the most stable apps. Errors while registering thermostats and have to keep stopping the app, reinitialise WiFi and then try again. Eventually got them registered. Functions are very basic and most advanced stuff only possible from the thermostat itself. The setup of the base and watts not strait forward and perhaps aimed at installers. Had to disable all 5GHz WiFi to get the thing to work. Interesting that you are unable to pick which WiFi if you have multiple. Warmup should do better.
App is as bad as the instructional videos on YouTube. App freezes on qr code scanner, NO 'info' page on the 6ie as stated in the set-up menu, in other words, you just can't set up the 6ie, simple as...USELESS.
Tried on 3 phones with different OS: Android 5: App crashed after QR code scan - absolutely unusable Andeoid 9: App crashes after last step of adding the room. Not usable anyway iOS: Seems onlt this one is working! Please resolve the bugs and provide app correction update for Android. Thanks for understanding.
App crashes while trying to add a new 6ie mini. The new thermostat can't be added any other way manually and I have to use the automated app option which won't work. Very frustrating to use
App does its job, not the best interface but it does work. I couldn't register my thermostats via the app, had to do this on the website. After this the app can control the thermostats.
Really easy to use, easy to change settings. The only criticism is that I can't work out how to set the current electrical tariff I'm on, which would then show the operating cost. Otherwise, it's great 🙂
Can't even register an account. Says passwords don't match..tried 20 times. Tried to email an error report and it says there isn't an email app installed on my device! What a joke.
Good but needs practice. Also the automatic daily schedule could be improved with more time options, not only wake up, got out, sleep.
It is best to set up as much as possible by laptop/computer, before you start using the app, I have error after error with the app. To type in the wifi password at the thermostat itself is a painstaking job, but the rest works fine. When you override the temperature via the app, it takes like a minute before the thermostat responds, this should be fixed. I think that the thermostat and app have potential, but it really needs a lot of fine-tuning.
This app is not user friendly especially when compared to other similar smart apps. Simple functions like turning the underfloor heating on and off do not seem to be easy to find. I can not see if the underfloor heating is turned on or off, just the target temperatures. When I log in with my computer I can change more settings but why is this not available on the app? I change the setting and then it reverts back to default setting. Would not recommend.
Generally speaking, the app and device are great - I had mine installed to replace 3ie thermostats nearly a month ago and it's fantastic being able to control remotely, and across multiple thermostats at once. However for some reason the app seems to be resetting the thermostat now every few hours back to the default of frost protection despite having a programme set and applied. Can't find customer help details! Slightly frustrating!
I don't find the app very user friendly and the estimated energy consumption figures are way out (10 times what my meter records). Also, I can't find any way of entering the cost of a unit of electricity, having omitted that step when setting up in the expectation it could be done later. It needs to be improved.
Will not Add Room with 6ie. I go through the pairing process and then enter room details, press "Add Room", App Crashes. Tech support clearly not technical, repeatedly asking me to set WPA2 and WPS off. They have been and always were. They act surprised, yet this thread clearly shows there are HUNDREDS of customers with the same fault going back at least 6 months, all reporting receipt of the same platitudes, "wait for the update". Not good enough, I have reported this to BBC watchdog show.
Not user friendly at all. Wanted to change my tariff and had to delete the room and start again. Then the tariff is £/kwh and can only enter 2 decimal places. I get charged at p/kwh. Thermostat is a nightmare to set up also. Should be able to do set up via the app and not direct on the thermostat. Overall, a very poor experience.
This could be amazing but software bugs are dragging it down, . So top tip, login to the website first create an account as the app crashes. Can't get geo-location to work at all. If this feature is not working there is no point in making a smart controller. Contacted customer support for both issues in Feb 2020 still awaiting a fix.
Can not register due to ridiculous reason. Email address field is with a too limited number of characters. I miss 3 more characters. Such a stupid issue I did not see in any other app so far.
Utter rubbish even after the latest update, no way of changing electricity rate once the thermostats are set up so the usage is always way out. You are stuck to setting "I wake up at" times and "I go out at" times etc instead of a more logical approach like the hive app where you select a time and a temperature and that's it simple and easy. The thermostats themselves are probably the worst I have ever used but that's for a different review
Finally able to get the 6IE on my WiFi. Developer reached out and fixed an error. Nice that they are proactive. Would give 5 stars but is there a way to control the thermostat with switch on and off times? Why do you need to know when people wake up, go to work etc. Just simple on and off is all that is needed.
It's always worked as expected and any error messages were clear and concise. It takes a bit of useage to find where to set fixed temperature levels with no programming levels ((look under schedule, even though it's a fixed temperature). Seems obvious after you realize it.
What an absolutely awful product....I have had so many problems with it relating to the app always thinking im at home (when I wasnt) which I had to fix myself as customer services were useless/incompetent. Now my app recognises im at home but doesn't set the temperature to what it should be. If the product wasn't under floor tiles it would have been in the bin a long time ago.
Terrible. The registration process repeatedly failed without an error. I couldn't resolve it via an online chat with support. It all seems overly complicated. I understand that for those who want SmartGeo that you would have to register with an email address and create an account but most people just want to control their thermostat via their phone (in my case because the interface on the hardware device is terrible and because I hope that something less tedious might be available in the app)
