I have had a new Carrier ac for about 2 years. Not only is the app terrible but the Infinity thermostat is also bad. I have yet to find a manual to configure the thermostat to function as I would like, Technical Support is no help, and service techs have a lot of trouble deciphering the functionality. I have been happy with the AC unit but the thermostat makes me wish I hadn't purchased it.

It works, but rather poorly. Basically it gives you a stretched image of what the thermostat displays and let's you control it from your phone. The app doesn't support portrait mode so if you want to use it with one hand, you have to do it sideways. Given the "attention to detail" they gave the UI, I would be shocked if they followed any information security best practices for application hardening.

This app works flawlessly. It resembles the Infinity Touch thermostat and that's how I like it! The OBVIOUS answer to the debate as to whether we should switch to the new version of the app or stay with the original version is to MERGE THEM BOTH TOGETHER. So that when you position your phone in portrait mode the app is the new version and when you position your phone in landscape mode, the app reverts back to the original version and everyone is happy (well almost everyone).

We have had the app since 2016, has worked just fine. As of 2 days ago it has stopped working. It shows it always turned off. It doesn't connect to my thermostat at all. There is absolutely zero information if the app has stopped working as well. I have contacted Carrier about it and they have not replied at all. Not to mention it looks like back in August they were coming out with a rest to to app. So when is that because its only been a little over 2 months. I hate this app!!!!

The negative comments are somewhat true (except "can't backspace." That works for me), however there are work-arounds: the keyboard DOES cover the user-id and password fields, but you can make the keyboard "floating" and move it around the screen. Also, it can be made somewhat transparent so you can see the fields behind it (this is all with Android 9 (or "Pie"). Also, there is a "stay logged in" check box so you don't have to go through that login exercise every time. The app DOES communicate with and control the thermostat, although there is a little delay. On the whole I like it.

This app worked well for several weeks. Unfortunately, that is no longer the case. The comfort profiles changed on their own. They are all wrong...not what we had set up for Sleep, Wake, Home and Away. The are not only wrong, they all defaulted to the same 50 degree temperature. The schedules have also changed to incorrect information. They also do not match the profiles and schedules on the main Carrier thermostat. Please fix it or we will no longer be able to use the app.

Unreliable connections - the app thinks it's connected, but status hasn't been updated in over a week nor is the wall unit connected to the carrier network. You can make changes in the app and nothing ever happens on the wall unit. Can only connect to the device 10% of the time I try. Shotty integration with Amazon Alexa. Not what you would expect after spending $10k+ on a new HVAC system. Tech support has been completely unresponsive to any support requests. Zero stars.

This app could actually win an award... for being the worst app ever developed in the history of software. The demo is the only thing that works, and even then you have to figure out how to get out of demo mode (I will leave that exercise to other users, it's like a secret quest, almost fun in a twisted kind of way...). The login screen can only be used in landscape mode and even then, you can't see the full fields. Worst, you can't even see the keyboard as it seems to pop out of view, so there's no way to type anything!!! So I installed it on my tablet instead, and now the app works in landscape and my keyboard actually pops up. Good, I can now use the app, right? Noooooooot so fast... all the profile settings are wrong. The main display doesn't refresh properly. I'm afraid that making any change will just screw up my carefully planned schedule... Pathetic is the only word that comes to mind.

Awful. App only works in landscape mode on my galaxy note 8. If you type your password wrong, you will have to kill the app completely and relogin. Keyboard takes up the part of the screen where you would re-enter the wrong password and it just won't let you clear the box and re-enter. Landscape mode only is very inconvenient and frustrating. It only gives past two days of stats in the app and the online portal offers no history of HVAC usage. Trash! Lastly, you cannot change the appearance/layout/color of the thermostat interface, like some other brands.

Thank you for developing this application. The login screen is the biggest issue, but once past it the interface works quite well for my needs. I have only had one time that a command didn't actually occur on the system. I have found that hitting the Android "home" button instead of closing this app after issuing a command seems to enable commands to issue reliably to the system. I like that the interface matches the wall thermostat. It is simple for me to use in this way.

This app is difficult to navigate. It does not sync well with our thermostat. I changed my password and can't log in to the app now, because the keypad covers the login and password. I have tried to tap and delete old password and the cursor will only land before the old password. For an $800 thermostat, the entire system and app are a huge waste of money.

This app is terrible, especially given the cost of the Infinity thermostat it's designed to control. Carrier's servers are down very frequently. The app only works in landscape mode. It's slow to respond on the few times it does connect to the thermostat. I expected much better out of a $10,000 system, or at least open your command interface to allow for better smart thermostats to be able to control Infinity systems.

Setting up the systems w the myinfinity program was a pain and the app itself is terribke. The lag time between making a change on the app (like turning a system on and off) is significant. The UI truly stinks, like it was designed 10 years ago. I also have a Sensi thermostat in the house and it works so much better and the sensi app is so much easier to use with a much better interface and respond time. Carrier can learn a lot from sensi.

Update: Appears that the latest thermostat update broke online connectivity. Complete garbage. Looks like they contracted out the app in 2010 and haven't touched it since. Hard to enter password, especially if you have a good one stored in a password manager. Sync is usually minutes behind. Only slightly better than staring at a drawing of a thermostat.

It's a shame to have released an app like this by Carrier. I am not even sure if they even have done basic testing of this app before making it public. It does not work on Android! It opens in landscape full screen mode and hijacks the whole phone! You simply cannot navigate to any other app unless you a tech geek and know how to end a process! Now, if you spell the password or username incorrect, there is no easy way to clear contents and retype! I had no choice but to uninstall!

The login screen forces landscape mode without the ability to resize or reposition the text fields which then become covered by the keyboard on my Android phone so I can't see what I'm typing. And if I make a typo it won't allow me to backspace so my only option is to close the app, then re-open it and start over. I am a retired AP computer science teacher. Whoever coded this app never took my class!

Very poor user experience. The UI forces landscape mode regardless of device size or orientation. The user experience was not designed to be used with only one hand. This is frankly just a really terrible web app port. Carrier doesn't seem to hold a candle to Nest or other smart thermostats I've seen. This is the year 2020, this is unacceptable. IF YOU ARE considering Carrier AND software is important to you, LOOK ELSEWHERE!

They said they were working diligently... 7 months later and absolutely no change. THE WORST APP ON THE MARKET. SETS THE STANDARD. Stuck in landscape mode, keyboard blocks the fields so you can't see what you're entering, you can't select the text box to delete individual letters but you have to delete the whole box and start over, etc... I wasted too much time on this app and on this review. You really should fire whatever imbeciles you have developing & maintaining this thing.

The app is extremely unintuitive. I had a Honeywell thermostat previously that was very intuitive. The infinity app requires you to go to different sections of the menu in order to set dates times and temperatures. when they installed it the technician and the supervisor were both here, neither one of them could figure it out, they had to call someone. I would not have even bought a carrier heat pump if I had known how dumb the smart app is. And one other thing it cost more than high-end laptop

This app is awful. Does not allow pasting passwords, so if you use a password manager you're screwed. Locked in landscape mode means you can't see what you're typing when typing your password. In any case, I am never able to log in using the web interface either, the only way to log in is by resetting my password EVERY TIME. If I log out it never recognizes my password. If you need to reset your password, you get sent to web app. Needless to say, an Android app I cannot even log into is useless.

App will often times not work from a device other than actual thermostat. sync takes several minutes to transfer from the app to the thermostat. actual thermostat does not work as well as the Ecobee I had. occupancy sensor is set to not turn on after a single pass. I have to stand in front of the sensor in constant motion for 7 to 10 minutes for it to finally register that I am home. if touch the actual thermostat, it will not register that you are home for several more minutes. dissappointed.
