Poor, hard to get to info, unfortunately now better than new improved usless website. Too much wasted screen realestate and linear simplistic one level at a time menu hierarchy. Can't look at multiple accounts easily. Additionally is now dropping data and omitting account data. Very wasteful of screen space and loaded with marketing info.
Need too many clicks to place an order. The chart is not detail enough to see the data. Overall, it's another tradition bank doing trade not like these modern app like webull, robinhood, etc more user-friendly, convenience and so easy to use.
Updating for Apr 2022: The app is more reliable these days, and it's great to make the IRA deposit so easily today. Sep 2020: Great app and easy to use. Service is not available more than one would think when I go to deposit checks. Unlocking after a password mishap is a real pain. Don't guess more than once!
It's OK but it logs you out after 5 or 10 minutes of inactivity without a warning. On the website there are settings for how it will remain open during inactivity and you can set that for up to 2 hours. It lacks the ability to download My Financial Picture as you can do on the full website.
The only issues I have is that the tips for taking images of checks for deposits should not repeat after you cleared it the first time. It is also annoying to have to enter your password after each check you try to deposit.
App is ok. It serves it purpose; however, it's not very intuitive. Also when I took pictures of my documents, it somehow generated multiple images of the same image on every picture taken. I had to go back, review and delete many duplicates. Also, the image of the camera app was very jerky, and sometimes it cuts off part of the document, but during picture snap, the entire document was within frame.
I really dig the layout of the app. It is very intuitive. I've had no troubles finding any information or feature, unlike other financial apps. It had a recent issue of getting stuck on the splash screen. I uninstalled and reinstalled to get the latest version. Just never know if it's the app or the phone that causes the issue for the developers.
Getting into the app is easy enough. But recently, when trying to make mobile check deposits, it takes me two or three attempts each check. Front photo taken and then screen goes blank. Have to then log on again. I also think the app should be updated to include the option of seeing that the mobile deposit(s) you just initiated have been received and are in a "pending" status.
I am not tech savvy at all and after a brief walkthrough of some of the cool features this app has, it is so easy to navigate through. Its super easy to take a pic of your document and then send it all within one window . No going back and forth from one window to the next. Its great. Its nice to be able to see all your holdins and how much you have of eaxh holding as well...so clear and upfront. Love this app!
Lots of promise but not much on follow through. It has an amazingy difficult time processing images for the back of checks. Considering how much time it takes to finally get a clear image the concept of mailing them in instead becomes attractive. The front of the check photographs without difficulty, so it might have something to do with the print on the back of the check. They need to work this out.
Once you get in, this app's not too bad. Its really hard to move around though. However getting in is the real problem. The fingerprint function is for all intents and purposes worthless. You can log in with your fingerprint and ask for the SMS code, and you hang your phone. SMS is hardly the most secure way to do a 2fa. Merrill Lynch hasn't figured that out yet though. But then they haven't figured out a whole lot as far as their web application is concerned. Bank of America's app is really go
I hate this app. The need to sign in to access messages, the too many options and categories, the inability to just look at my own deposits, the way overdone security ... It's all a hassle. And it took ages to get it to work right and have the sign in and accounts synced after installing it.
Easy to use app, very convenient for bank of america customers!! Only issue is it that it crashes sometimes during critical trading sessions.. other than that it's great!
I love being able to access my stocks quickly. The user experience on this app is as good as Chase Bank's app, and that's saying quite a bit!
Frustrating that broker must add, delete or hide accounts on the dashboard. No way to customize columns shown in the account holdings view. Would like to do alternative lists and sorting according to other criteria like Morningstar ratings, show gains for a particular period, etc. Secured communication functions are slow. Needs ability to view multiple windows simultaneously.
Using this with a lower-powered phone on Android 9, and I have yet to find any hiccups. Though I would never execute a trade on anything but my laptop (except in emergency). Really appreciate the real time update of account balances via streaming data. Also access to the "My Financial Picture" tool, which I have recently begun using as replacement for Quicken.
This app is much less functional than the website. First time I've ever seen an app make things more difficult. Doesn't remember your username or password. Even if you set up the fingerprint function it doesn't remember and it prompts you to set it up again every time you open the app. HOT. GARBAGE.
Galaxy S9. Pay date can't be adjusted due to writing that covers the calendar. Says please adjust pay date because it can't make the payment that fast, then you can't adjust it. So it defeats the purpose of using the app to pay Bill's. I have had to pay dozens of Bill's by phone with an added charge because of this app.
Once app is open and if it timed out it will not allow to relogin, need to forcestop and do, pls allow to customize the dashboard by user,
This app is average at best. I wished it was more user friend and the user interface is much more engaging in terms of look. It looks bland and functionality looks like its outdated. Would love for Bank of America to put more work into improving the look and feel of the app. Also not a lot of research ability. It's one of the reasons I have another account with TDAmeritrade. TD has a much better platform for research and I love the ease of use of their app and site.
The app itself is adequate (missing features of the web version), but logins fail about 2/3 of the time. It appears that they have a limited number of simultaneous users, so getting in at busy times of the day is an exercise in frustration. (Using Android.)
Fingerprint fails after initial setup. Ability to use disappears when you log out and restart app
The app works pretty well, but there is at least one major deficiency. It's very hostile when using a password manager with autofill. The username box fills, but not the password. Furthermore, if you have to switch apps to authenticate with the password manager, the boxes are blank upon your return.
