The pod cast is outstanding. Very entertaining. The app is garbage, at least the android app. It fails me on a regular basis. I wished MU could get this right. I'm not one of the barnacles I'm a plus member. I get logged out and have to delete the app and reinstall it. If I look up Mysterious Universe in the play store it doesn't show up. I have to search for it on google and then it takes me to the app which is in the Google Play Store. That makes no sense. Google is probably to blame.
Works better but still has strange issues. For example I have a fast 4G phone but while I'm downloading the latest episode it takes an unusually long time to download and during this time the app seems to steal all the available bandwidth and I can't watch YouTube or do anything online while the episode is downloading.. which can take up to 10 minutes sometimes even though I selected Standard quality (I'm a subscriber).. apart from that the player works well.
Great app until last Android/Samsung update. Was working perfectly till this month. Now the episode stops playing after 30 secs when I switch apps or lock the screen. Same with episodes streamed or downloaded from the site. Anyone know a fix or a good player app to work around this issue? I don't have the problem with Player FM, but I can't play MU plus content through that.
android app not compatable with tablets, was a message i was getting. uninstalled app, restarted device, now it won't downlhear. for awhile, i would get app updates for news and new episodes which i could select and would open app. trying to open app directly would result in error msg./ compatabilty/tablet. So close to being a Plus member aaagh! Thanks. Love the free part of show (all i can hear).
Every ten minutes or so it just stops, and the mini player disappears even though the app and episode are still open. When I hit play, it starts from the beginning of the episode, so I have to skim through to find the spot I was last listening. Infuriating.
Love the podcasts, I've just been having trouble with them randomly stopping every 30 seconds or so lately. Is there something I can do to fix this? Is anyone else having this problem? Update 5/12/21: I tried to use the app again for the first time since my initial review. Had good luck until my phone screen timed out. App says it has permission to prevent the phone from sleeping, but doesn't do so. Any help available?
This is a fantastic app for an even better podcast!! my only problem is that one in a while, while listening it will just stop playing and I will sometimes have to restart the app. that is quite literally the only problem I have run into. Great work MU team! (the real question is: who was gnome?)
Guess Im forced to drop my Plus membership. It's completely unusable, stops randomly, won't play downloaded episodes and now it suddenly forgot my login and subsequently won't accept my login credentials despite doing a fresh password reset (another system that stinks, the email comes a random amount of time after requesting a new password)... My Plus membership is charity if I cannot access the paid content. The fact it's not being addressed on the show makes me feel a little icky as well. 🖕
Does anyone know where the downloaded podcast file can be found on my device? I'm using a Google pixel 4a. Once I download it, I can open it once to play it and then I can never find it again. This app is clunky, you can do very minimal. I usually have no problem of just hitting play and let the podcast go but other than that...eh
I never heard of any show called Mysterious Universe before. This app is interesting, and works fine in my android, plus the layout is good and the photos it has are like in HD. My only gripe is that it uses alot of MB, 26 to be exact. That is enough to make anyone's stomach muscles tighten!
The show is five stars the app is two Stars. If you try to use this app to connect to your Bluetooth in your car you will have to make a lot of peculiar adjustments. For example you have to hit pause on the app before turning the car off or turning the car stereo off if you don't do that you can lose your place in the show. There are other quirks as well but that's the one that it took me awhile to figure out a workaround for. So this is about a year later and the app has only gotten worse..
