The game was great as was the story. I only have two criticisms. One, it was dark so the search and gind was difficult and I ended up just tapping all over the place to collect the objects. Two, while the story was great the ending felt rushed and unfulfilling. I was left going, "That's it?" Over all, though, great game and I look forward to your new games.
For the money ($0.99) it was very good. One cannot expect a game at this price to be comparable to the 4.99 games..it was never meant to be more than an intro to the pricier "True Fear" games. The story is complete in itself, plus a bonus game. No map but the settings are simple. only HO's, no minigames. No audible dialogs. Journal helps with figuring out what to do next. Still very much worth the dollar price. This game was designed for those complaining "I can't afford expensive games"!
Just a demo!! And even then way too short!! Let's you see 3 rooms and all objects to find are obvious. Don't even get into the story before it ends and then gets you to pay to buy full version. Their other game is much better, let's you play for a long time to get into the story and then asks you to buy full game. Which I would on other game. But not this one as I don't really know what it's about. Cut sences are good. But want more gameplay and puzzles to solve to get me interested in continuing playing. Especially if they want me to buy full game.
Great use of balance! 3.5 stars for dev! Example, dev' only charges a one-time reasonable fee, giving you a chance to try the game before deciding to pay. You're also free to game w/out In-app-ads. Also you can choose your level of difficulty. These games also have well-thought-out plots, too. The only fault I can find with this game is when the dev remastered it he/she didn't sharpen old images you find inside spaces. Overall, good fun & engaging game!
I like the True Fear series but this one seems a bit rushed in comparison. It needs more polish. Some observations: -The text and fonts look like a text box was simply add to a picture. These games have a lot of text so it becomes noticable over time. -The environments look crowded but are less interactive (can't click on much.) -Needs the ability to show what is clickable when you push on the screen, especially since the background aren't as clear. Maintain the standard you guys already set.
While things game isn't nearly as good as the True Fear games, it's still worth playing. Yes, graphics are a bit blurry and dark, and the gameplay isn't that great, the story is ok, and since it is so cheap, I didn't mind paying for it. I hope the devs continue their awesome work, as I'm very much looking forward to seeing their next installment!
Didn't bother buying the game because the graphics were so bad in the VERY short free version. Cut scenes were ok/good but the rest of the time everything's so blurry and vague looking, like a faded waterlogged photo, which resulted in way too much random clicking. Tedious and annoying. For these reasons and more the game seems like it was rushed with most of the developers time spent on cut scenes. Coming from the makers of True Fear I expected a much better game than this waste of frustration.
I really liked True Fear I & II (played straight thru, creepy as hell), but this was a bit disappointing. Blurry graphics. Only got to the weird old house before it started looping me in the basement and couldn't get anywhere beyond that. Tried getting hints, but it kept telling me to go back and forth - not helpful even though I was tapping on everything to try and find what I needed to proceed. I'll feel really dumb and up my rating a bit if I missed something, but I had to uninstall.
This game cannot be compared to the others made by the same team( like true fear). Too easy, obvious solutions and mainly the same puzzle repeated over and over again, a picture with many objects and you are trying to complete a list of them so you can find the one you need to move on. Very disappointing!
Was not impressed with this game. Graphics were terrible and the storyline wasn't what I was expecting. I liked it but I think it could have been better written and the ending should have been different. The star thing that tells you where to go was awful, I'd click where it says and nothing. I had to continuously click help, once there it was done kinda. Honestly I don't recommend it but I did enjoy the other True fear games. I'm just glad this was only a dollar.
I didn't get to truely play enough to decide i want to purchase even though in the description it doesn't say try a small bit of the game and unlock the full game from within. It gets you with the " try this adventure full of puzzles with a great story for free". I like games that one give you enough free play to decide on a purchase and two directly tell you the full game is unlocked from within.
I'm super surprised that this is by the same company that did True Fear. True Fear is excellent. Mystery Valley not so much. There is a massive hole in the game where it skips several parts of the story. Very disappointing. Definitely check out True Fear 1 and 2. You will not be disappointed. Edited to add: my phone is not old, it's up-to-date with all security and OS updates. It's the game that's the issue.
The game is great except the graphic a little dull . Sometime it is hard to see object clearly. Also it is difficult to pick up item. Need to tap hard on the screen. What i like ix the hints given in the notebook . So when i am lost i always use it as a guide. Otherwise the game is worth buying
Good story line, but graphics are disappointing. It is more block like so it's a bit distracting. Other then that, I think it's pretty good, wish it doesnt seem rushed. Loved the first 2, graphics were good same with story line. Not this one though, good, but NOTHING like the first 2.
I love the story and it is very cleverly drawn. But I have to compare it with the two True Fear games which are exceptional. There is too much reliance on HOPs which become rather tedious and something to get through quickly. I also prefer to see and hear the characters talking rather than reading a sentence. I have a feeling this game was your first outing. It seems like a practise game. It is still enjoyable in its way and I am only half way through. I am looking forward to your next game.
so this is BEFORE forsaken and as long as you dont expect it to be as good honestly it's a nice little story. They clearly worked out all the issues by true fear. It was a dollar. It was a bit dark and so im randomly just clicking on things but thats okay. Its fine but again as long as you know its BEFORE..and dont expect the same quality as True fear. Its a good little game.
I agree with most of the other reviews. The storyline is good (but short). It just seems like this one was rushed. The graphics are terrible, and I had a really hard time seeing objects and clues. I just wish it was longer and more put together like the True Fear games.
After playing True Fear, this is a bit let down. The graphics are a lot less crisp and lower resolution. The sound is a lot less ambient. Despite that it is a decent adventure, although it is quite hard to find objects due to the low quality graphics.
Enjoying game very much. Very intriguing puzzles, and some are unique. If it does get too hard, there are hints you can use to help you along. Great graphics, would highly suggest this game to others and look forward to part 2 if it comes out
Very disappointed after the first two games. Was this one developed for a 3D system? The visuals are dreadful on a normal screen: dark, blurred and almost impossible to spot anything. Such a shame as I enjoyed the previous two games.
Great game, but compared to your True Fear series I feel the story line was cut way short and left me feeling disappointed in not knowing what happened in the end. I would like to see more to this and that's why only a 4 in rating due to this.
Enjoyable game. I found it emotionally engaging, and quite touching, which was a pleasant surprise. Deliciously creepy, with beautiful graphics. Some scary jump scenes! I do wish the HO scenes had clearer details. Even when I used hints, I still could not make out some of the tiny items, and I'm playing on. 10" tablet. Well worth the low cost. Great job. Devs!
