MySunset
There are two methods to view sunrise/sunset data:
1 - An interactive map with an overlay showing the forecasted quality of upcoming sunrises and sunsets. By default, your current location is shown on the map. On this screen, you can toggle between sunrise and sunset, change the date, move the map around, and zoom in and out of the map.
This screen also shows:
- Sunrise/Sunset times
- Moonrise/Moonset times
- Moon phase
- Temperature for Sunrise/Sunset
2 - The second screen is a table showing a list of custom locations. Each location displays a forecast percentage, a corresponding color representing the quality of the sunrise/sunset, and the time of the sunrise/sunset. Add as many custom locations as desired.
Tap on a day to view weather data for that sunrise/sunset. Even if the sunrise/sunset isn't great, this data is meant to assist in accomplishing your unique artistic goals.

Tap the three dots to open more options:
- "View on Map" will open the location on the Map screen
- "Configure Alerts" allows you to receive push notifications when an upcoming sunrise or sunset is predicted to be colorful. In-app purchase required.

Amazing little app! You need to take the distant predictions with a big grain of salt. But, I've found that while the exact times change as they get closer this app really does help you to know when there is a good one coming. And the close (24h) predictions tend to be a little optimistic, but will at least tip you off of a real chance of something good so you don't miss it! 40 percent chance and up means that there will usually be something pretty to see if you can see the low horizon.
Updating my review now that the map functionality is back. It is the 2nd most useful feature (after the ability to view forecast for multiple days) and a strong differentiator of this app against other competitors. I really appreciated the dev's quick response and turnaround time to get the map readded. It certainly says a lot about the effore that goes into maintaining and developing this app, especially bringing back a costly feature to the free users. Thanks a lot! And keep up the great work!
Terrible app. It is never accurate. It's always the opposite of what the app says. If the app says 10% chance (bad) of a good sunset, it will usually be great, when it says 80% chance (great) it will be terrible. 4 times I've gone out to do some photos when the app says over 80% chance and there wasn't even a single cloud in the sky. Basically, if you go by the opposite of what the app says, it will work out. When it says it's going to be bad, it will be good (vice versa). Use Sky Candy instead, it's always accurate. When Sky Candy says it will be a great sunset (it's always right), Mysunset will say it will be bad lol Mysunset is always wrong. I've tested this more than a 20 times and it's wrong every time. Maybe it's the data source they are using.
used to live by this app, it was spot on. Since changes have occurred such as where the data feed is sourced this app is totally unreliable. I have seen many awesome sunrises and then checked the app and it will be a 20% rating. I've stopped using this app weeks ago due to the unreliability. very disappointing
The accuracy is pretty terrible. Yesterday it gave a 40 percent chance for a great sunrise, but the sunrise yesterday was amazing. Today it gave an 80 percent chance, but the sunrise was pretty meh. This is, unfortunately, the norm for this app. I wouldn't recommend paying for it.
The data has been inaccurate (using it in South Africa). Secondly the app showed the forecast for only 1 day recently, then even that disappeared and everything is blank.
It seems that those running SunsetWx have decided to discontinue maintaining the API. Nothing works on the site anymore: can't create a new account, can't rest my password, etc.
The only thing that is accurate is this app's ability to predict the complete opposite of what a sunrise or sunset will look like. Don't waste your time.
no help. no way to contact support. very buggy. eg pro version map doesn't work. defaults to san Francisco
Something is wrong with the temperature values. I set it at Celsius, but it's showing 56 degrees in winter.
Incredibly buggy, could not get it to work or load at all on reliable wifi and relatively new phone.
I use this and SkyCandy in Melbourne, Aus. They can give polarising % chances and are both inaccurate.
Not currently functional. Was working great but now I just get "Invalid Date Invalid Date"
It opened to a white screen. Then did nothing. Waste of time.
When it did actually function, its predictions were mostly way off.

No map or sunset color information with Android oreo. Only times of sunset and sunrise display. Update: The app is now working well and I will be using it more in the future to determine how predictive it is.
Such an easy way to know when cool sunrise/sunset photo opportunities are coming!!
Its a hard app to use and nothing is simple.
App is accurate so far. I have been using it the past whole year. Today got a 94% awesome sunrise. I'm using the paid version. I dont give 5 stars because the map functionality got removed (I dont know why) Map was useful for me to check where I could potentially get a better sunrise/sunset and plan accordingly. I hope the developer can bring the maps back. And remeber people, we are dealing with weather here, it tends to be unpredictable. This app have worked for me most of the time.
