Narrowboat Simulator

It doesnt really add anything new to the genre of narrowboating games. But it is optimized well enough. I think my main problems are with the ui - it doesnt look professional, and is unintuitive - also, having buttons everywhere just looks messy. They need to be organised more. It has a little bit of its own character due to okay art direction and graphics, and a non-moving cat, but nothing really quirky. It otherwise has decent focus and you get into the action pretty fast.

Really relaxing and fun game to play if you have a bit of free time. Takes a bit of time to get used to the controls. I have no experience of piloting a real narrow boat but this is definitely a really nice experience Edit: Just tried out the VR and I have to say it's pretty fantastic. Is it the most realistic thing graphics wise? No. But the use of another device as a controller is a fantastic idea and works incredibly well!

A good simulation, that does require some practice to become proficient. I find the steering and power responsiveness a good representaion of real life (on canals in UK and France). I'd like to see mooring on approach to locks being the trigger for lock controls, not just proximity and the use of lines when in locks would be an added authentic touch, watch those sills! A map of the navigations would also be useful. (I don't want much do!).

Very nicely observed - clearly the developer knows narrowboats! I live on one, so I really like the little touches like the cat and the wash. The different camera angles are fun too. Obviously you don't get the physical sense of the weight of the boat as you are hanging on the tiller & praying she'll turn in time, but the controls and movement are very good. I clunked the app boat just as often as I clunk my real one! Nice little game.

The game is good and the maps are good and also could you add a multilayer function and the map using the whole UK canal area or other places with canals, add some chat system to it, add a simple and a professional server(for the simple you are not required to complete all missions on the 2 maps and the professional you need to finish all missions). You could add these or no but I hope that there will be a multilayer function soon or later..

Truly an awesome game michael. I mean truly! The concept behind the game is so simple yet so captivating. The controls are second to none. The realistic vr is not of this world. The addition of the cat really bring realism to the game and gives a warm touch to it. The only thing michael is my boating buddies and I cannot enjoy the experience together, what I am saying michael I would throughly enjoy a multiplayer experience. Yours sincerely a new friend.

So here was I thinking that it's unlikely anyone would have written a narrow boat simulator... Good job I checked as this app is brilliant. It has clearly been written by someone who has some boating experience as everything responds accurately. The level of customisation is also a bonus. As this app is quite niche, I wonder if there will be more challenges in the future... I really hope so. Many thanks

I'm about 3/4 through this game. Really wonderful, very nicely put together, by someone who clearly takes pride in their work. One can only hope more maps are added some day. Only tiny note of constructive criticism is that it would be nice to be able to see the objectives during a mission (probably the wrong word but I can't think of a better one) but that really is a minor quibble.

I recently bought a narrowboat, which I can't use at present due to COVID-19. I think Narrowboat Simulator is very good for practising maneouvres such as positioning a boat in a marina in order to reverse into a mooring. Steering in reverse gear seems to be very realistic (slow and not always reliable). I practise core steering maneouvres, so I haven't tried out all the features of the game.

Just found this app after having a narrowboat holiday for the first time, and was totally hooked. This game is so realistic, Hopefully there will be more levels and tasks. Just a thought, Id love to go through a tunnel ......and love how the locks and bridges are so realistic. Another point would be to design your own boat and the interior too....here's hoping

We had a narrow boat when I was a child, so i have done my fair share of steering and locks. This game is fantastic, it takes me back and reminds me of the real thing. The steering takes a bit of time to get used to but once you have figured it then it's easy. Love the fact that the water rushing into the locks moves the boats back, just like the real thing. Well done on the game, keep more coming.

Game itself is absolutely brilliant, but for me, the graphics are a bit of a let down. It needs the beautiful scenery and more detail for the boats. Please give it better graphics, it would be an amazing game!

You focused more on making the map big rather than gameplay and focusing on scenery detail. A good idea is boat racing, because it is in an enclosed enviroment. Just not the right idea for a phone game. But time will tell. EDIT: Thanks for your reply, I just relised you dont have ads on this game. You need to make money! Its not my kind of game but i wont give it one star.

Not a bad game design at all. It definitely has a learning curve but it's not a bad curve either. Take your time. And enjoy it! I'd love to see an Erie Cabal Version here in the states going through the locks etc using Mapillary imagery or others to be photo realistic. A guy can dream haha great job Devs!

This simulator is brilliant! Very realistic handling and lock mechanics. If you are sadly landlocked this is the app for you to get your cruising on the cut fix! Would love to see it developed to include more waterways and better graphics!

This is a beautiful and relaxing app. Unfortunately I have had to uninstall it on my two Android devices... sorry! - Installed OK on a Nexus 7, but does not show the water or land therefore cannot see what is happening or where you are going, (only a grey area of where the water and land should be) - Installed on a Samsung S6, but screen size is to small to make it playable for my liking - I wish I could award it five stars it deserves for a great concept.

Great fun! Love the control and response of the different length vessels - very realistic! I can spend hours cruising around and dreaming I have my own narrowboat (is that just a little sad?) Some requests - can we have Engine on/off control; fuel gauge with a need to fill occasionally; water gauge with a need to fill occasionally... Thanks

Sadly this game is simply irritating. Even with helicopter view you can't see much around youeso most of the time you have to guess where to go. Also the canal itself ii too small for the boat which just makes playing the game a total irritation. Good idea for a game but badly designed. Happy to uninstall this game in a minute.

A well built game and really nice to play. But on top of all that... You are not required to pay to play any element, the game is free to begin with and you dont have any annoying ads you need to watch. This is my new favourite game.

I love this game. it is fun & challenging. I would like to see more levels added. But even going back and trying to beat my own score is still enjoyable. Good Work P.S. I would purchase things in game to keep it add-free.

Honestly. I have no interest in canals or barges but the slow pace and precision of this game is awesome. I am even trying to not play through too quickly to extend the enjoyment. I love it. Keep the levels coming please.

This is the first ever time I have reviewed a game or app on my phone and this simulator definitely deserves it! I love narrow boats. One day I will have my own. But for now this app full fills my dreams! Absolutely brilliant! Love the old coal barge! The sound of the engine chugging away! Awesome stuff! Please keep making updates to this sim. Its awesome! This is the second time I have installed this game. I really enjoy it. Got to the free cruising at the end don't remember getting that far before. Like the fact that the boat got stuck on the cill, very clever. Really good. We do narrowboat holidays so the reason for finding this game really.

Frustrating but when you get your boat in the right place it will give you a good feeling of accomplishment. I will probably never see a cabal or narrowboat in real life so YouTube videos and this game are the only way I can experience what a life it must be "Cruising the Cut" to quote one of the popular Boat Tubers (as they like to call their niche). Great game, want to see the next round of updates please.

The best mobile game i have ever played i love the british scenery, because i am from england and i can never find a game that you can sail a canal boat through the british countryside but this is the game and i love the physics off the driving and the locks but please add more maps to free ride. Always wanted to cruise the cut but in the USA that seemed to be unlikely. This game simulates the experience with nice real physics reaction simulator. A must have if you have even the slightest interest in UK canals.

I had a knot in my stomach and tension was rising, what?! This isn't a "lock and load" game, it's about putt, putt, putting at a slow walk pace. Ah but you see I needed max karma to acquire that dinky little narrow boat. Goodness knows why, but this is good fun, loving Llangollen and the area may play a part, but this is still a slick game

This simulator brings me great joy. It's 90% slow, meandering, hypnotic joy and, when you least expect it, 10% insane anxiety! It's a wonderful thing and the new update, particularly the squirrels, have lifted it to an even greater height. Toot-toot!

I have had great fun playing this game. We spent a day on a canal barge last week. l was hopeless steering the real thing and I am not much better on the simulator (yet) but at least I am not spilling everyone's tea on the simulator!! Lol!

A bit fiddly and clunky, as with a lot of phone apps. But I've lived twelve years on a narrowboat and have steered many besides my own and this app gives a fairly good idea of the physics involved.
