National Grid

Finally, an app to pay my utility bill and look at previous months' charges. However, it is very primitive. I have to look up and physically enter my 10 digit account number every month when I pay my bill. (Who memorizes account numbers?! Oh, and don't forget to erase the dash if you copy and paste it!! ) There's no option for the app to remember my login information or to create a login ID. No biometric login option either. Maybe NG could use their profits to design a more user-friendly app!

I was tempted to give this one star but there are a few helpful things, like the outage map and the safety info. However, the layout is odd. And I had downloaded this because I was looking for a quick, simple way to pay my bill. There should be an option to log in using username/password but instead it is account number and first 4 letters of last name. This app needs some serious updates.

Usually, companies apps are useful and convenient to manage your account, view bills and make payments. This is not one of them. Would love to be able to make one time payments and get notifications that a bill is generated. Can't do it here. Waste of memory on my phone. This app needs major improvements.

It's easier to just use the browser, at least that remembers your credentials. I can't believe I'm actually writing this, but this app actually has no login capabilities. You must have your account number (from your bill) at hand in order to pay your bill. You also can't even see past bills & payments. This defeats the purpose of downloading an app. Waste of phone space, just bookmark the web page &save your login info. Just when I thought that TERRIBLE National Grid site was as bad as it got..!

One of the worst apps I have ever experienced. Most apps give you the option to at very least have a userid and password, and most have a the option to use a biometric ID. National Grid's app makes you enter (and remember) your 10-digit account number to log in. In addition, you can't see any breakdown of your bill--just the amount owed. How rudimentary. It's like an app a kid in high school would design for an intro to Comp Sci.

I wish it were possible to give zero stars. Talk about creating one of the most useless apps there are. This piece of junk only allows you to make payments. It doesn't allow you to access your account in any way, nor link to it. You have to enter your account info each and every time you use it. And then you have to know your payment amount because it doesn't have any access to your actual account. Completely useless! National Grid 👎👎👎

Don't bother, easier to use the website. In fact this 'app' feels like the laziest app developer literally put a wrapper on the site itself... Which is awkward to begin with, but at least on the PC the browser will save your creds. Here you have to log in manually. Complete waste of time.

It's almost like this app is a joke. When it opens, a user cannot simply log into one's account, but rather has to pick a function, like paying a bill. But then, to pay the bill, you still can't log into your account with your normal login information. Rather, it asks for the bill's invoice number. Well, I don't get paper bills, so I would have to login to the website to get the invoice number. If I logged into the website, I would just pay the bill there! What then is the point of this app?

Not helpful. Does not provide account information and requires the account number to login. Options are very limited. I downloaded it years ago and still have it in hopes that they will release a better version, but I don't use it. The web portal is much more useful. This app is a total disappointment. With eversource I could easily see my bill and payment history and easily pay my bill's or set up an automatic payment. With this app it's a maze that one has to navigate in order to simply make a payment. Its easier using the website.

There is so good way to navigate this app. There's no easy way to contact for quick questions. My "speedy" profile has never saved, and I've had to re-sign up for auto payments every month.

Horrible half-baked garbage makes me jump a dozen hoops to create a profile, and another dozen to pay my $10 bill... Why do I need a profile, if there's no information about the amount I owe in that profile? And guess what! You can't copy-paste the payment amount, you can only type it. Yes. In 2022!

Useless and unintelligent. You'd think that once it asks for your account # and Last name, it would pull all info from your account. Nope. You still have to manually enter in your checking acct info. And there's no way to email a message to them. Yes, just like the normal website, it's very much lacking functionality.

Terrible , can't see what I owe , have to have my paper bill in front of me. You should go copy the eversouce app. They know how to make it easy to pay. Plus there is no way to click into my speedpay account from the app. So I have to input my info over again. Terrible

Just use the browser website and save yourself the headache. This is glitchy beyond belief. I can't scroll back up the page without refreshing the whole page. It also won't let me log in.

Great app. It is well known that there is 'NO 9 DIGIT INVOICE NUMBER' on National Grid's bill. That option should be eliminated from the payment selection tab and 'Pay monthly bill selection' should be the only option. I was about to trash the app and give a lousy rating. I had to call NG customer service rep who gave me the '1010'. App was pretty straightforward to use after that.

Thinking that this would be like a decent app to oversee my accounts but it's nothing like Con Ed. They need to have the team on Con Ed app to help with this hot garbage. Even their website is bad, the process to open the gas line is just long and stressful. They need a major upgrade in their overall customer service system to meet modern times. Make things possible to things online instead of sending in emails or needing to call in and then just differ me to a closed department.

To those who say you shouldn't expect to pay bills with this app... that's TOTAL bs. Because in the description of the app, it literally SAYS you can pay bills. 🙄 Which you CAN, but you can't see your account. Which makes this app useless if you can't see your account and statement on the website and pay your bill through your bank. Thanks... But no thanks NG. You make too much 💰 to not improve on your connection with customers in general. 💁

The fact that the app isn't linked to your website and I have to create a new payment account from scratch makes this app worthless to me. I'll just log into the website. It seems like a no brainer to have it linked so I can open the app and quickly pay. I'm not setting up another account.

A waste of an app! I just got a link to an app from PSEG. It was wonderful. It made it so easy to pay my bill. All of my personal account info was stored and pulls up on the app making it easy to pay a bill and see my usage. I was expecting the same personalization and ease from National Grid, but I guess i should have read the reviews first. Its exactly like visiting the website! Whats the point of an app then?

worst update of 2021! App used to at least be helpful in paying your bill. Since the recent update I can't even log in!! App says to create a speed profile, then when you try to log in, it won't let you saying there's an existing account. Uninstalled!!

Doesn't save info. And when paying, It goes through western union speed pay first. So if I log in my bill is still there and hasn't cleared. The confirmation email from this app looks suspicious and is not like the ones I would get from paying through my computer. A legit company letter vs. a few sentences stating western union speed pay has received my payment.

Out of curiosity I installed this app to see what all the bad reviews were about. I agree with them. A virtually useless app. Google National Grid and download there home page, then add to home screen. Now you have a perfectly functional app.

Quite possibly the most useless app. There's no menu to navigate, no place to login to your account. It's like they released an app less than halfway done.

Wish it was more like Eversource's app. At least with that I can log in and it saves my info and I can look at past bills. This is useless if you're not sitting at home in front of a bill, which I wouldn't need an app for...
