Doesn't deliver content. I thought maybe this was a subscription issue so I paid to extend my subscription. It took my money but did not extend the subscription and still does not deliver content. I contacted them by email and got back a bunch of suggestions like "log out and back in". I wrote back that I'd already tried all this. They stopped responding. Appears to be a pure ripoff.

National Review is indispensable as a source of news and analysis of world events and current events. This app makes NR magazineplus more accessible 24/7 and that's a big gain with no downside.

The app needs serious work. The headlines and bylines look great. From the titles I read I would say its conservative journalism at it's best. But the stories take an incredibly long time to load on my android device. Makes it hard to read more than one article during a 15 minute break. Surely an intelligent developer can address and correct this little glitch..... soon (please) !

Sensible conservatism right in my hand anytime. Or so you would think. The app is painfully slow, often not loading what I had intended. Always trouble with logging in even though I'm a subscriber. And ads ads ads even though I'm a subscriber! I would like the search to be a better. I can see an article on my desktop but, when I search thru the app, it isn't as easy to find. You're better off just using the website. I'm really disappointed with this app and I know Buckley would be, too.

Thank you for fixing the previous issues with the app! The major issue I had was having to reinstall everytime a new issue was published to access it. Customer service wasn't real responsive at the time, but the engineering team seems to have addressed it. I'll gladly bump the stars up as I use the app and see how it responds. Love the content...great as always!

Great magazine, terrible app. Usually when I open it I get a blank screen and have to use the back button to restart it. Then it frequently kicks me out of whatever I'm browsing so that I have to go back and find where in the list of articles I was. Within the list, the articles move around as ads load. Links to related information open within the NR app (no url). I put up with it because I enjoy the magazine, but I wait for my physical copy often because the app is so lousy.

Just visit the site in-browser. SO MUCH BETTER. Actually the site is great on mobile.

Articulate and balanced description, discussion, and analysis of significant current events.

Very glitchy. Horrible scrolling, stories continually jerk back to the top as you try read. I'm a fully paid subscriber but not once has this app let me read locked content. Stories VERY slow to load. Two ads per screen, top and bottom, so you can only see a few sentences of the story at any time. Love the website, hate the app.

Unreadable. I cant seem to load any of the articles without the app jumping back and forth (I assume because of the ads) causing me to lose my place in the article. Tried to load the comments section and it couldnt read that either because the app kept jumping back to the article. Better to just go to the website.

Won't stay open. Should be able to save entire edition for offline viewing. If it's not improved soon, will be requesting a refund. UPDATE: tech support seems to be accomplishing nothing, as the new update from one week ago still crashes each time I open the app. Absolute garbage. Do NOT pay for this service.

The worst experience. Don't subscribe! I paid for a subscription but have never been able to login nor have I ever received a magazine. I've emailed a dozen times and none of the morons have been able to resolve the issue. Now trying to get a refund is proving impossible.

So disappointed. NR typically has good content but . . . navigating this app is infuriating. Click on article from the menu and I get the one above it instead. Click the article below the one I want and I get the article above the one above! It's not even consistently inconsistent. Not sure why I gave even 2 stars.

Tyl. C. Nov 23, 2018

Love the content but the app is terrible. All kinds of ads (Even for subscribers like myself), stories load slowly, interface is clunky and difficult to navigate. National Review is great, but the app needs to be rebuilt from scratch.

Performance of this app is horrible. Pages constantly jump around when reading an article. Insertion of ads among headlines causes similar issues. Just basically a pain in the butt to use. Too bad since the content is quite good, but is better read in a browser.

Other reviewers said its not possible to log in to NRplus account. After multiple attempts at the main log in screens I had a similar experience, BUT I discovered if you open an article and log in from there it works. The app is okay (not great). NR's fabulous content overcomes the few technical aspects which are not quite where they should be yet.

Roc. F. Oct 17, 2018

Could use a sleaker UI but the content is great. It has a wide variety of content ranging from centrist to very conservative. But most of it is maimstream conservative. Very good if you want to get the conservative rightwing perspective on issues.

Ric. M. Jan 15, 2020

I love the content. Especially Jim Geraughty, Kevin Williamson, Kim Timf and Ramesh Ponnuru. However, the app is slow when downloading articlesconstantly refreshes when loading ads and although I am an NRPlus member I cannot log in and constantly have articles refuse to load. I get an error that my free article limit has been reached. I would give 5 stars if the app worked better.

A. G. u. Mar 20, 2019

clunky. difficult to use. i start reading an article, scroll ubtil the second paragraph. and then it rewinds to the next article up. huh? it's as if it never finished loading the whole page. great content, poor app

Jam. M. May 17, 2021

Lousy app... don't waste time and space on your phone. Pages don't load, ads overwhelm functioning pages, and no sense of content management. I deleted it. Must revert to standard website where I can read without ads and can appreciate content layout.

A. G. u. Dec 31, 2018

I enjoy NR's content (and ponied up $$$ in support) as part of my effort to read across the political spectrum. The app is a horrid way to attempt to access that content, however. It freezes, crashes, sits there just doing nothing, falls prey to the malware that also plagues NR's website, and just generally makes it a pain to read NR articles. For the love of Buckley, NR: please fix the app!

T. T. Jan 6, 2019

current version autocloses. ap won't stay open, so not using. confusing relationship with NR online and mag. not intuitive. hard to download issue when working. unnessarily complicated.

Cor. D. Sep 9, 2021

It's digital, but needs work to emulate the magazine experience. Need way to search by author, also please include time of publication on article lists.

Mic. F. Dec 20, 2018

I can only save each article via pocket. B4, I could save the whole issue for offline. very inconvenient. Articles are well written and thoughtful.

Pet. B. Mar 13, 2022

Magazine and web content are good but app is extremely clunky and unstable. Easier to use browsers and web site.

J. R. M. Oct 8, 2018

I like the news and articles, very much so. But the app itself is cumbersome and slow, quite annoying. How hard can it be to create a smooth running app?

Mat. F. Sep 12, 2018

Best articles around...just terrible functionality and too many ads. I don't understand why they just don't fix it! It's like years behind in App life

Tim. T. Aug 26, 2021

Content from National Review is excellent. National Review's app is terrible. The app often reverts to bugginess and has annoyances like articles without publishing dates. National Review should do better. [Originally posted in 2019. As of August 2021, the app is still terrible.]

dea. Sep 16, 2019

Content is excellent. App has problems; slow loading, confused scrolling, and freezing. The worst app I have ever used.

C. M. Nov 18, 2019

So far, not very good. Website button lists areas and opens to stories but links to stories goes to blank screen.
