The older version of the app was much better! I always planed my trips with it. Sort places I want to see and places I have visited. This was the most uesfull feature of all! Now it is gone! A shame! Please make this feature funktion again... Also better in the older version was, that I could set the language to german (other languages mabe too. I didn't try) now I can't do that and therefore it is not possible for the whole family to use the app... Please, reintroduce the older version again!!!
I had the older version of the app when I first became a member. It was great, I could tag places we wanted to visit and then tick them off as visited. The new version is a massive step backwards and has list this functionality removed altogether. We're on holiday and I've left the handbook at home so I need to resort to getting pen and paper out to write a list of the places we want to go? Come on National Trust, how is this an improvement for fee paying members?
I loved this app until the last update. The ability to mark places as 'visited' or 'Places I'd like to visit' has gone entirely and means its actually easier to use the paper handbook to plan trips and days out. Quite disappointed as it seems the update is a significant step backwards.
The recent "upgrade" is a massive downgrade, you can't even sign in. The app is no more than a brochure now. I had all the places I visited saved and that just vanished overnight. I'm surprised it's allowed in the Play Store because it doesn't do anything the website doesn't do.
I was recommend this app based largely on the my places feature, but since that is not available it is not very helpful at all. I could just go on the website.Distance based on as the crow flies isn't very helpful either. It would be hugely helpful to have a digitised version of the membership card. Mine recently got damaged from the washing machine. The info is nice and looks pretty but that's it.Having a list of where you want to go or have been is SO helpful and makes it different from website
Please bring back the 'My places' feature. This was really useful when planning where we wanted to visit when on holiday and also a useful tool to log where we have visited. The app is useful for finding out up to date info on opening times and events that are happening at properties.
Used to be good, but they've removed the best feature - MyPlaces - which let you bookmark places you want to go and mark ones you've been to. There are no plans to bring it back (I contacted the NT directly). So the App is now just a digital version of the handbook and redirects to the website for most bookings.
The NT app was great before the update. Removing the 'My Places' functionality is a massive step backwards. I have used this function to plan visits when venturing further a field, ans as a reminder of places we have visited and ticked off our 'to do' list. Please reinstate this function.
The removal of the tagged places has basically deemed the app pointless to me. I can access all the details of the properties on the website so won't be using app any more which is a shame, as I enjoyed seeing where I'd been, and adding to my future visits list as I heard about different properties.
The recent update cancelling My Places option is so disappointing. It's not an improvement at all. That was a great feature, and it's impossible now to personnalise our experience. Very bad move
As with other similar reviews on the upgrade of the app, the My Places section is such a big loss as it was a fantastic feature to be able to see where I had already visited and then wish to visit. I will have to go back to manually ticking my guidebook.
App is as bad as the website. Lost all the places we've already visited and wanted to visit since update. And still can't search beyond 40 miles. I want inspiration for a family day out and willing to travel further but have to use Google maps for inspiration
No longer has 'My Places' or any account functionality. Also, how about letting us access our membership cards digitally through the app? Saves the need for rubbish disposable cards and makes things substantially more efficient than having to lug yet another card around in our wallets.
Originally a 4 star review but reduced to 1 star. The fact your membership card can't be stored digitally is bad enough, but removing the My Places feature is a massive step in the wrong direction.
Removing the places I've visited and wanted to visit is a really retrograde step and this was done without any notice. Very poor. Otherwise it's quite useful, but..
App no longer has My Places which was the most useful feature of the old version. Now not really any more useful than the website.
I cannot mark places I would like to visit and have visited any longer. The update took away the best feature of the app! Places are taking much longer to load since the update as well.
Really disappointed with the "upgraded" version. Why has the my places tab been removed? I now need to remember where I wish to visit. This was a really useful feature. Please bring it back.
How can it get worse after the update? No longer able to mark places you've been or want to visit. Some National Trust places are not shown in the app... Please fix.
Why remove my favourite places? That was a really useful feature. Also, why remove the log in? Surely in this day and age you should have added a QR code so you could scan your phone instead of carrying a membership card? Come on, catch up.
A log in with my card details would be useful so as to not have to carry membership cards around. All the info on the app can be accessed via the website.
Awful lazy update removing the sign-in and my places function. I used a lot to keep up to date as to where I have been. Will use Google in the future.
Why have they removed the "My Places" functionality? It was one of the most useful features, enabling one to flag places to visit.
Disappointed the very useful "My Places" feature has been removed. Amazing that in 2022 you still have rely on remembering to take a physical membership card as the app doesn't have a virtual card! Another issue is that distances are shown 'as the crow flies'. This is totally irrelevant to planning a visit. Really not a great experience using the app.
