Nav Launcher (beta)
Nav Launcher has all the same important features as the default Navigation launcher app, such as:
-Quick access to contacts, starred contacts, and favorites-Easy entry of a typed or spoken address-A history of where you've gone before
However, Nav Launcher makes it easier to access all of these, and allows you to set two Quick Favorites, for frequent destinations (such as "Home" or "Work").
If you always want a certain screen to start up (such as Contacts, Favorites, or History), then you can customize it to do exactly that! Nav Launcher can even launch itself whenever you place your phone in a car dock.

Couldn't be better. I don't understand all the people that complain about directions. This app is a launcher for google maps navigation. I'm at a loss as to why some people can't understand that. It's simply a quicker way to get back the functionally of getting into the navigation part of google maps. Google had this but it now takes several screens to get to navigation. If your getting lost because of bad directions, blame google not this app. Scott did a great job in giving us a nice interface to get back what google took away.
Originally my phone came with a navigator. It disappeared and metropcs told me this is the one I need to download. Well it sent me 5 miles off course. It also tells me I need to go all the way around my block just to get to the end of my street where I need to turn at which is where I pretty much started. Hate this app. It's not the original. Our days beta.
I don't think anyone will have what the google navigation beta had. It was accurate, it had satellite, and showed traffic along your whole route, so you knew what you were encountering for the whole ride. And showed shortest distances. I can't find anything like that to dload. Not even this, with its name so closely related.
This is a pretty slick program. Makes it easy to recall favorite places and the directions are for the most part spot on. The only knock I have against the program is that I do not use the default Android Contacts program and this app has to but that's not the developers fault. So now I have to have them both on my phone. If in a future update there is a way to select which contact list I want to use then 5 stars!
After Google remove the blue arrow for navigator and didn't tell anyone... this is a needed application to simplify Google Maps 7.0. helps with quick destinations so you don't have to fumble around to all these unnecessary windows to get where you needed to be before the upgrade
Maps 7 changes rerouting. You must now pick a route before starting navigation. You can't change routes while in navigation anymore. It would be nice for this app to let us chose to be dropped in at the route selection page, rather than just starting nav with the "fastest" route. Great app otherwise.
The navigation lady's voice is the most beautiful sound iv'e heard ever since I updated Google maps. It works just as good as the old one, I played around with it and figured it out.. it's a little more complicated but I'll take it:)
It starts out good, but you have a hard time finding the street in your part of the country if there's other streets with the same name in other states. You also have a hard time adding and deleting waypoints. On the good side, the GPS function keeps up with you better than a regular dedicated GPS. It's accurate within feet as opposed to yards on a regular GPS. Make it easier to delete and create waypoints, and be able to accept gpx waypoints and you'll have a 5 star here. As it stands I only give it 3 stars.
I like the ease of selecting contacts to insert as a destination and the history. Frequently, I am provided with addresses for sales calls through Outlook Web Application to my smart phone. Normally, I click on the address and it launches Google Maps on and then I go through the process of selecting routes, etc. What would be nice, is to have this app detect the addresses I go to through OWA and store that as history...that will get you the extra star! Thanks.
And this new version is horrible. I've been waiting for over five minutes for it to load my directions. This version is slooooooow. Loved this before this new version, but now, not so much.Trying to get alternate routes is annoying. I've been trying to get directions to somewhere for 10 minutes and still have gotten nowhere. There's a McDonald's 1 minute from me and the closest one it directs me to is 5 miles away. Upgrade? I think not!!!!
Can we have a choice of maps like before for Brut.all maps (now Ownhere version), or even OSM (Open Street Maps)? Otherwise this program is useless for countries outside USA. Google maps navigation is the best, but it is officially for USA only, which is ashame. Now Apple already coming out with their own maps and navigation, this should put some pressure on Google to open navigation to the world. I am still using the old Nav Launcher with Brut.all map. Problem is the map was not updated since 2 years ago
This app used to be the best app on my phone. Over time the app started to shut down from time to time. Now shuts down every few hours at the worst possible time. I have all my favorites saved on it, so its pains me that I have to start over. DONT USE !
This update isn't the greatest. I didn't think there was anything wrong with the older version. In fact, my iPhone friends were jealous of how great the Android google maps works versus their navigation app...
Great idea. I love the simplicity. It's very similar to the old Google maps that I miss so much. Thank you for creating this. There are still a few bugs but it looks great so far!
In my opinion this app works great. I do alot of traveling in my line of work and the app has not failed me yet. I would deffinitely reccomened downloading.
This app works for me so I recommend it. I gave it 4 stars but if it had a speed camera detector I would give it five.
Loved the version that came with my phone. But it up and vanished like a fart in the wind forcing me to download this turd of a navigated.
Every time I have to up grade phone the Google maps get worse does not show easy way or fastest just the only way they want to tell you go. have driven some of the routes I pulled them up on Google Maps it take your way out of the way makes it harder why does everybody think up grades are an improvement some time the just ruin some that worked fine
Update is terrible want the old version back. There seems yo nor no way to get rid of all the newly added junk. The old one could be used without looking at the screen..this version horrible
Liked app better before update. Takes forever to load. And yesterday took me out of the way.. old better new stinks
Works very well. My one real complaint is when I'm using it I can't have it show the direction of travel as going to the top of the screen instead it has it going to the left if I'm going west, down if I'm traveling south etc. Just really annoying to me
I cannot get the trun by turn direction to work on this app. I dont think this app tells you directions a try all and if you dont follow the exact directions it doesn't reroute. I am going to remove it right away
I love this app. I threw away my gps. The best is the streetview. Kinda a trippy but real cool to see the actual street and destination.
Took me to wrong address. Again (and again was not minding the app closely during trip which is necessary, this is not a set and forget app it will betray you midtrip). WILL CHANGE DESTINATION WITHOUT WARNING.
You only get one route with the new version when you got three with the old one.. Old version back please
This was a serious downgrade to the previous version that was deleted without my knowledge off my phone. I want the other version back
I love the app until the last update. Last update made the time of arrival to small to see. The miles and duration of trip time.
