I don't think Turner expected such a demand for watching the games with this app. All of my other streaming works flawlessly, but this app buffers every 5 to 10 seconds. Obviously the servers can't keep up with demand. Doubt they can fix it over night, but this is a horrible experience. On the plus side, the commercials stream without a hitch - go figure. Using TiVo Stream 4K which is basically Android TV on WiFi. Speed test shows 50+ MBPS down and 15 MBPS up. Edit - still not working. Trash.
Moving to ESPN. Fifth year using the app for bracket challenge. Gets worse every year. Navigation terrible and unintuitive. Sometimes able to access the women's tournament through this app and other times the link is gone. Hangs, bounces to earlier screens, Ads terrible and watching them over and over after it hangs is excruciating. I'm done.
For the second year in a row the app is terrible. It will work ok on a mobile device but will not work on a fire stick or an Android TV. It asks to update but then continues to constantly freeze and The picture is not clear. It's not my internet provider as I can watch the games just fine on Paramount + but thats limited to CBS games only. Why can't you guys get this app right? It worked fine 2 years ago with no problem.
Menus are intuitive, content is clear and legible, formatting on mobile app scaled well. Bonus points on preview (and not docking time while running ads). Hope this lasts for this tourney and future seasons. edit 3/27/23. Box scores: "3PT" should likely be 3-point attempts; inferred from observing "3PT" numbers are sometimes greater than "FG".
Only works well on mobile. I have tried to use this on my android tv for days with no luck. Every few seconds it stalls, making everything completely unwatchable. I made sure I had the updated version, tried to uninstall then reinstall, and even disconnected all other devices from wifi. Still jerky. Extremely frustrating.
Forced update with endless loop - was using app for 30m. Glitch occcurred (let me pick my team but then the team disappeared in its game box though I could cont making picks, but was not allowed to finalize bracket). Restarted app. Asked 4 update (as if I had a choice) and now its looping in circles. Unistall (done). Install (done) Open app (done). Start up screen with popup "there is an update available - UPDATE" (no where 2 go but back to unistall) GARBAGE!
App was working fine. Now not so much. When I click "Play" it takes me to the screen to create a bracket. I can't view my bracket or groups or anything under the "Play" tab. And I obviously can't create another bracket because the tournament has already begun. I've tried, comes up as technical difficulty. My bracket picks are stored somewhere though because under the "scores" tab, it shows my pick in the current games. Sure would be nice to actually see how I'm doing.
This app is terrible. The cuts off every time there is a commercial and it half time. Why would you show the final 4 on TBS when many people no longer have cable? That was a bone head decision. I guess I will just look at the highlights after the games.
If you're trying to watch on TV It's absolutely pathetic. Keeps going out and wants to play commercials as a priority over everything else. I have it hardwired through an ethernet and still it's horrible. On the phone it's fine. 1 star.
Tried to sign in on my phone. Requires my Xfinity account information. Fine. Xfinity sends me a text message with a two-factor access code. Fine. I go messages to read the text, copy the number to the clipboard. Go back the the App login screen to enter it. The App returns to its startup screen, with no way to enter the two factor app. And then starts up another 15 second commercial. This is seriously messed up, NCAA and Comcast. Cannot give 0 stars, so one will have to do. Unusable as is. Too bad, was a good resource
we have had a horrible time trying to watch! I thought it was supposed to be free but it was only a free trial and it shut off right in the middle of the game we wanted to watch the most. we tried to sign in or up and it was so confusing we wound up just uninstilling and re-downloading. Not at all happy.
Terrible app. Barely works. Waste of time. Compete garbage. Plays an ad whenever it starts which isn't that horrible but since it craps out every few seconds it then restarts, and a new ad, every few seconds. Good luck seeing anything.
Picture looks good. love the ability to chromecast. Wish i could watch more than one game on one screen. Had some issues connecting, but, perhaps, that was because of the demand/bandwidth.
Works pretty well if you are just watching on a mobile device. The Android TV app is awful though. Doesn't allow you to stream CBS games or the Fast Break channel. Streams are very choppy. Chromecasting is a better stream quality, but will just cut out fairly often
Horrible app, so buggy, need to restart it almost every time. Casting is bad too, works sometimes. Like someone else had commented, it buffets every 10 sec, but not the ads. Using the Chromecast app yields the same results.
Freezes constantly, like every 10-15 seconds of live TV. The ads are only slightly less constant than the freezing. Funnily enough the ads are always fine. Don't waste your time on this garbage app.
Forces me to update the app before using it. So I update it. And now it still complains about a new version despite having the latest available. I even force-stopped and cleared data+cache. Either don't allow these types of bugs or don't block people from using the app without the latest updates. You can't do both and expect people to continue using your product.
For another year, it's a completely useless app for the TV. Streams freeze up upon the initial ad they show. If it makes it passed that, it will just continue to come in broken up frames.
Laggy streams, especially on chromecast. App itself is laggy and buggy as well. Seems like the app was not tested thoroughly by the dev team, and the whole system was DEFINITELY not stress tested. Seems the NCAA cheaped out on their dev hiring.
Worked yesterday, but today it just says "a new version of the app is available." Upon clicking update, it brings me to the app store where there is no update available. There's no way to get past the screen. I even tried uninstalling and reinstalling but still can't get into the app.
After installing update, it loops between update available pop-up and the Google Play store that shows the update already installed. Wouldn't go past this on opening screen. Just watched part of a game prior to updating, and it was fine before the update.
It was working great and then it made me update and now i lost my bracket and it wont let me create a new one. It keeps saying "technical difficulty, please try again". Ive closed the app numerous times and restarted my phone and it still won't work.
Update for 2022. I'm getting the same error others have mentioned. App keeps prompting an update even though I have the most recent version. Can't get past the loading screen.
I've never had so many issues trying to cast something to my tv. It has a hard time switching between games and the cast button doesn't show up half the time.
Use to be great! I have uninstalled and downloaded it 3 times. It keeps saying, "An update is available." Hit update; it crashes. Come on, guys. You have had a year to get this right!
2022 Update... Same Issues. How do people get paid to create such a horrible experience when they literally have an entire year to fix bugs?Signing into provider is a nightmare. If you do get this to work it's usually only for a single game then you have to trouble shoot all over again to get it working again. Save yourself a headache. Uninstall this app, buy an Amazon fire stick, spend 15 to 20 minutes jailbreaking it and watch the games for free!
The app plays then once there's a commercial it stops and you have to start the video again...it works but it's annoying to have to keep doing that...just sayin'
Good things are that you can watch the games live and scores are updated quickly. In portrait there are game stats shown below the game view. Bad things are you can't cast unless you have an account with one of the channels that are showing the games (i.e., tbs, truetv, tnt) but if you had those then why need the app at all. And the streaming never was smooth especially the sound. It didn't freeze, but I never heard a sentence that wasn't marred in some broke speech or the video a little jumpy.
