Netalyzr is not only a debugging tool — it is also the foundation of a comprehensive measurement study compiling a survey of the health of the Internet's edge. Netalyzr is brought to you by a team of researchers at the International Computer Science Institute in Berkeley, California. By running Netalyzr and helping us spread the word you are contributing to the quality of our study — thank you!
ANDROID PERMISSIONS: Netalyzr requires network-related permissions, location information (whose collection you can disable), and the ability to close other apps (to increase test accuracy; you can disable this feature as well). SDCard access is required to store the results of the tests. We do not have any interest on your personal data but if you enable location information, you will help us to improve the accuracy of the results!
ROOT PERMISSIONS: If your device is rooted, we will ask you for permission to use root privileges in order to conduct IP traceroutes from the device. If your handset is not rooted or if you do not grant root privileges to the app, the traceroute test is skipped.

Highly recommended. No other app comes close. This is the only app I know of which tests bufferbloat, tcp setup connection time, dns lookup time, and packet loss (all of which correspond more closely to real-world user experience than those "pure" bandwidth test).

Installs, but displays a note to say that the service is shut down. Granted, the description says pretty much the same thing. Why is this still in the Play Store?!
Why do you have it on Google Play if it doesn't work? It clearly says the service is shut down. Why do you let me install an app which doesn't do anything?
Causes hard reboot of my android nougat device very early during the test. Useless in its current state for me.

My phone complains this app was 'built for an older version of Android'. otherwise good.
Must have IT diagnostic tool that can be used by those less tech-savvy that know some of the terminology.

The review you deserved, despite you shutting it down: Updating my feedback and rating to 5*. This app is the ultimate net analysis tool on the market...period. More comprehensive and analytical tests performed that almost all other apps combined. I've used this app for years, and there is simply not a better android app out there in this category. Highly recommend. And special thanks to the dev crew @ Berkley for developing and maintaining this one-of-a-kind app!

This application appears to be spot on. However, given the results, it would be difficult to collect and analyze a comparison between the two manually. Also, some of the "errors" shown have been a result of my smart firewall; which isn't a problem, but noteworthy to the DEVs development. From what this app has clarified about my ISP (Cox), their DNS servers resolve the names that do not exist. Also, my ISP'S DNS servers have high-latency. This app provides some useful information.
Update: Feb 2018. App updated and world great again. Thanks devs! [Previous versio.] App gets stuck on test 125/125 and doesn't report results, so what was a very useful app is now useless. Pity.
It is an app for assesing quality of internet connection. Works as expected. User of their website since a long time. Great work.
After fixing the fetchAkamizedIcon issue, the app runs smooth and provides excellent output, after a thorough scan.
Seems like fetchAkamizedIcon results function times out from no received information at 125/125. Resets into new test. Fixed! Beautiful! Kudos to a Small research team and not big Corporate.
I will miss this app VERY much. It was able to quickly help me find any issues on networks. I understand there are no more updates, but I wish it was still left in a functioning state for awhile. I'm not sure what it takes to keep it running behind the scenes though. Any thought to at least open sourcing it and seeing if anyone will maintain it? Is anyone aware of any alternatives to this app?
