It works okay, but is missing key features, like being able to download content, like other Netflix apps allow. I would love to download movies and watch in VR on a plane, where it can offer a much more isolating and immersive experience. The other key feature the other VR content apps offer, like Hulu and HBO, is different settings, like theaters or different surroundings to watch the movies and TV.
This app needs alot of work. But if done right, this app could be amazing. One suggestion I have is to utilize the many bluetooth remotes that are available as the main navigation method of the app. Another suggestion is to have a cursor-based "touch" navigation system. This uses a coursor to select an option and a touch input to choose that said option. This would be very useful for people with the Tzumi Dream Vision Headsets. Overall this app has potential, it just needs to be unlocked.
First, for anyone here on the same desperate search I was on: you can cure error NW-3-6 by turning off your VPN. Yes even on your phone. Yes even the Google VPN. Now: It's missing some features that would be much appreciated, like the ability to adjust screen size or to change the background, and the resolution leaves something to be desired. But the chalet is cozy, and I don't know what resolution I expected on half your phone. It's a perfectly serviceable app.
This app does not seem to work with the Pixel 3. Does not allow for sign in after clicking "log in" button. All actions (clicking on "Daydream", "Welcome") loop back to same main cabin landing page but no ability to log in. Cleared cache for 2D Netflix app, Netflix VR, and did full restart of phone. Truly a bummer and a waste of time trying to troubleshoot.
Not a flexible screen. I would love to watch movies and TV series and other videos laying down in bed facing the ceiling. I couldn't do this with the Netflix VR screen since the screen is fixed to view the content in a stting position. It would be great to have a flexible screen just like YouTube VR so that it can be adjusted to align with the ceiling to view the content from a laying down position. Also, for viewer's sake, please make updates to the Netflix VR App! Hope someone hears my words
Keeps crashing. If you select the wrong headset on the options that they have it directs you to download an app. Everytime click cancel thinking that it will bring me to the home screen so that I can select the correct headset it crashes. I have a VRES headset that comes with a remote but you can't use because there is no bluetooth capability and if you the headset doesn't have a QR code in order to use the app.
This is a great idea and I hope it continues to improve. Unfortunately unusable without remote. Please add requirements to description. Wouldn't it make more sense to simply add a VR mode button to the standard netflix video player? Nothing fancy just like void mode. It's all people really want.
Very difficult to watch content. The player window wanders around the field of view requiring you to reset it every few minutes. It occasionally shoots up overhead requiring you to exit VR, close the app, then reopen and navigate back to the video. Also, videos are very dark and the background is light making it difficult to see.
Note: To login and use this app, you need a Dream VR controller. People not having the proper controller is the reason for most of the 1-star reviews. Initially, like a few others, I was disappointed that I couldn't use the Bluetooth controller that came with my headset to log into Netflix. However, after finding a $13 used Google Daydream View VR Controller on eBay, I am happy with this app on my Samsung Galaxy Note 8. I can now see how the Dream VR controller is a lot better than my Bluetooth controller; it behaves much like the VR controllers for high-end headsets. The only issue seems to be a little drift which causes me to have to recenter the virtual screen every so often. I think the next step would be for Netflix to offer 3D movies via this app and allow downloads just like the regular app.
I'm using it with the google Daydream and the Note 8. Works fine, the only weird thing is the image slowly shifts leftward, no clue why. I am able to log in using the remote to select letters on the keyboard, and 3D movies on Netflix look kinda cool. Also very practical to watch shows without bothering your SO.
Piece of junk. Can't Zoom, can't move, no curved screen option like YouTube app. Wonderful, I get to watch VR of a living room in my living room. Worst part is that when I try to use a browser instead it won't actually play Netflix in VR. My only choice is to watch Netflix on a scaled down screen in a virtual living room or on my real television. If I sound annoyed it's because I am. The YouTube app shows what great potential watching videos on VR can be, only Netflix blocks anything other than their own crappy embarrassment of a viewer app. I wish I could select negative stars for their app!
This app takes control of the brightness of your device away from you while in use. That would be fine, except it also reduces the brightness drastically. On my phone it's the same as of you dragged the brightness slider down to 10%. Not even going to bother signing in. What is this BS netflix?
This is really a missed opportunity from Netflix. I travel a lot, so I was excited to try using Netflix VR on a plane so I'm not holding my phone or tablet, or propping it up on the airport tray. then I find out it doesn't integrate with my Netflix downloads, and is basically a gimmick app they released.
Initially I rated 1 because the app keeps switching back to main when clicking sign-in using the bottom button on the controller, but it was user's error. I was able to sign in and choose profile and movies by clicking the large round button at the top, which does not seem like it is a button. The button in the middle returns to previous mode.
you just can use this app with few vr models, it could be more simple and accessible for all vr models. when you choose the model daydream vr the app never work again to change the vr model, even if you uninstall and install the app this configuration keep, and it become impossible to use the app again. its terrible, I only wanted watches my series :(
This app is amazing! If youre wondering why you cant click anything, you need a daydream controller. However, you can use a second phone as a controller. Other than that, the apps atmosphere is great and serene and you are greeted by a large tv. Would recommend it and its good when travelling.
I read the other bad reviews, but wanted to give the Netflix VR app a shot anyway. I can't believe a seasoned media company would produce an app this bad. Why bother pushing out an Android app, if the app doesn't function? I'm on a Galaxy Note 8, using Google cardboard and launched the app. The menu doesn't work at all - so much for trying to sign in. *But far worse, the app hijacked my phone. There was no way to exit the app, except to reboot my phone. This app isn't even fit for beta testing.
Please bring the old Netflix back that doesn't have all VR, Daydream and Controller requirements.I can't seem to assess Netflix first it was to download Daydream and other bunch of stuff in my Google VR settings and now they're asking for Controller pls what's that. I mean why do you upgrade or change what's working only to make life more difficult for the users. it's not even free. I've been charged in the last 7/8 months by Netflix without using the app now that I'm less busy I can't use it 😡
There's no login page. Just an unstable screen that keeps showing me a living room. And it never leads to where I can actually log in and watch my movies. What's really the problem. And why can't I download the normal Netflix app on my phone? Just make the normal one compatible with any phone, with the VR included and everyone is happy.
Accidently selected to use the Daydream app in the settings. A popup comes telling me to install the daydream app, when I press cancel the whole app closes. Reinstalling doesn't help and I can't configure the daydream app because I do not have the remote. Can't do anything with the app anymore. Settings menu is unreachable.
I couldn't even login. I'm on a Samsung S8+ rn, and I'm using a normal vr head set. it doesn't have buttons so I'm use to eye controls. if that's the problem, then I'd like to have eye control so I'm able to use this vr feature. if that's not the problem I'm not sure what is. also I saw another review that said this should just be an option on the original Netflix app; to be able to select vr mode, and I agree. that would be the best solution.
Can't even login. I'm "sitting there on the couch, looking at the TV", but I can't even tap the login button. Why couldn't Netflix just build vr into their regular app, like just a little "Google Cardboard" icon in the bottom right like so many video streaming websites have? The regular app works great, and I can already login to that, so just loading up a video and switching it to vr would be a lot easier
I was so excited when I got my VR Headset to see that Netflix had a VR page for their movies. I was SOOOOOOO disappointed when I downloaded the app and couldn't do anything more than look around the room. Maybe Netflix could put out a VR Movie sight that was more than a livingroom and actually showed movies?!!! Because that might be cool... Folks... the pictures above of the livingroom are as far as I got into the sight.
The download feature is non-existent, the sole reason I love Netflix is it allowing me to predownload my episodes before I am deployed and then I can watch high quality episodes with poor connection. A shame that my mobile VR headset is wasted as I thought this feature would be together with Netflix.
What happened to the regular Netflix app that I could just watch on my phone without the VR bit????? Please make this user friendly again I can't do anything just stuck on that screen with the two living rooms and I'm not interested in attaching a headset much less a specific one. Still paying subs please I need access
This won't work with Google cardboard without some ridiculous workaround that you have to do. I can't log in and pairing a remote doesn't work either. There's no way to select "log in" even though it let's you launch the app.
Definitely the best streaming platform. I use it in PC, Chromecast, Smartphone (Galaxy Note 8) and Android TV. Top usability experience and design in all devices. The Netflix has changed people's relationship with culture, information and entertainment. I'm grateful! My request: more subtitles customization possibilities, like color and size, avalaible in app (not in browser)
Love it! Not sure why such low ratings. Works great on Pixel 3xl and have been enjoying watching movies in my virtual mountain lodge! can also set it so screen follows your gaze direction or set it on direction (both handy for watching movies while lying in bed next to wife and sleeping toddler!). Make sure to use wired earbuds as airpods have delay as with all other vr apps. Only real wishes is that they would make some other viewing environments besides the mountain lodge.
Great concept. Feels like you're in a comfortable living room watching movies. The huge problem for me is that they removed some features that were in the regular Netflix app, specifically downloading of movies and show episodes. This would be perfect for watching stuff on an airplane if they had download play. But they don't.
