From Netgear, I expected a little better. The remember password option is unreliable and doesn't work. The app gives the impression it's connected, then decides its not and sends you back to the login screen. Most of the time at that point it blanks the password field. The data usage doesn't work reliably either, although I realise this is probably a firmware issue rather than an issue with this app.
The app is fine and good for operating the router. It is easy to use and the dashboard is easy to understand, although it takes some timw to locate various settings; not very intuitive. I'm using the MR1100 and have been experiencing problems with shutting down the machine when charging the battery and there is no way for me to get the support I need. The netgear website for members is also down. This is very frustrating.
It doesn't support all routers, for example D7000, in the past did. Why bother making M. app. I'm just wondering why did they get rid of old version of the app, it worked just fine for older routers. I like to use my smartphone for just about anything if I cannot see router on my phone this router is history. Most likely I'm going to go with some other company that makes routers. Not that Netgear cares what I think....
Needs work. Can't see the bottom row of selection. Like settings etc because data screen too large. Needs to be able to maximize and minimize to see selections below. You did not test this app before release. And its not phone screen size. I have the biggest newest Samsung make. Test yours apps!!!!!
Seems to work well as a front end to router settings. If you can't get it to work, then go to 192.168.1.1 in any browser to connect directly to the router. Not the same GUI with this method, but hopefully it helps out those that cant get the app to work, but still need to get into settings. :)
Terrible experience. Keeps trying to connect to my home network, not my Mobile Hotspot router. Also keeps flashing back to the sign in screen, after already signed in. I installed and uninstalled the app. Trying a 3rd time. This is getting annoying. Use to work just fine.
75% of the time the app tells me my router isn't supported. The other 25% of the time it gives me minimally useful information. Best feature is the ability to reboot the router.
excellent, though LTE network is much faster than the Tri band selection. unlike my iPhone I have to reenter the password for the application 2oo3 times. lastly I'm not sure this th netgear device or not but I have to restart the device every 24hours or or the internet becomes very very slow, never happend when my sim in a Huawei devices.
This app is so freaking awesome. I can easily control my Netgear MIMO, check the data consumption and battery live, I can change the screen settings (brightness and info showed), manage passwords and guest connections... Truly superb app and such a piece of cake to pair with the device (it does it by itself no need to be a computer or networks geek to set it up).
Easy to use, quite helpful when setting up the new network. I have NOT experienced any crashing, but unlike most users, I don't leave a bunch of background programs going. Just swipe down from the home screen to get the rest of the settings. Love my new Nighthawk 4g router and love this app with it.
The possibility of ditching a very intermittent NBN connection was appealing but I didn't think it was going to be possible. This router and combined with a good (not excellent) mobile signal has transformed my connectivity. Well done Netgear. This app is key to control.
I have been trying to connect to my M1 hotspot now for 2 weeks, to no avail! I attempted to email netgear. Still waiting for some help. Instructions for the configuration of the hotspot is NOT included in the instruction manual. I am really aggravated .😤 Okay my updated review brought it up from one star to 5 stars. The M1 has been working perfectly. I had to configure the ATT APN. Took me about 3 months to figure it out. Lol Finally found it somewhere online. Holy moly batman.
This app does and has worked with the WIFI Mobile Netgear nighthawk, yet at times it says app is not compatable with the nighthawk while its connected to my nighthawk. I have set up and changed numerous settings on the device. The app is poor. So that tells me the developers and the Netgear manufacturer are not competent in there engineering and development. The nighthawk is a weak device and i rate it also as an inferior piece of electronics. it is not reliable....Buyer be ware....
Many times the login procedure fails. Credentials are never remembered. Incredibly bad quality for the price of the devices. The app should automatically connect to the Netgear wifi. Encrypted SD cards cannot be formated and must be unencrypted on another device. The Nighthawk M1 is a terrible product for a terrible price.
I love this informative app, thank you Netgear! I do have one small request- could you please add an in app notification for low battery? Many a time my battery has run dry whilst I'm in the middle of work, its a slight hindrance. If I could know maybe 5% or 10% beforehand, I can backup my work progress. I'm sure others would benefit from this too. Other then that, I cannot fault this great app!
I love this Netgear Mobile app. It helps me set up my Netgear M1 Nighthawk hotspot device with easy settings. A very useful toolbox menus and easy to read on screen. Very convenient app without any confusion. Very well synchronized with the website of Netgear M1 Nighthawk hotspot device login page to setup the mobile hotspot device. This App is more friendly user than the website page but both are very well synchronized with each other accurately and no complications at all. 5 Stars!!!
Doesn't play nicely with VPN. I understand why, but it would be nice if the app was able to discover and talk to a local gateway (the routing for the local network does not go via the VPN). Also, I was hoping for a widget to put my remaining data on my home screen, but there are no widgets included.
Terrible. The app regularly logs you out and automatically reverts to "admin" and no password works. you will have to spend a half hour relearning the convoluted technique to reset the mifi unit. As far as i know its the best and worst, simplly because its the only one.. sigh.
I need help with setting my APN. I've been having a lot of problems assigning my default APN (it just does not let me change it from EE UK). I have unlocked the device no problem but i cannot connect to the internet with anything I try. Whether that be with trying to change the APN settings on the web browser and in the app. Can someone please help?
It works quite well. Easily change settings if required and define access. I have an older 4gx telstra supplied personal hotspot device. Some tech ability may be required to achieve optimum performance in poor coverage areas. NB. Most of these modems are locked to the company who sold them.
Awesome app. Connects and works beautifully! 💯 Could use a few more features but what app couldn't, huh?? If you can't use this app you are definitely... Anywho's it's a fantastic part of my intranet! 💯 The NAS is fantastic. I have a 512GB SD inside of the Nighthawk M1. Wi-Fi offloading is also a breeze with this app.
Over all the app is easy to use and informative, menus and pop ups prevent you making mistakes. The only problem is i can not update the routers firmware through the app. It just says checking but never stops, just constantly checking so only 4 stars from me.
For an old IT company Netgear is embarrassingly bad at software. Their web admin which is the only way to get to most of the features constantly defaults to a help page and as for the rest, it is not intuitive. As a long term IT professional the only reason I buy their stuff is if there is not alternative on the market. In today's world I would strongly suggest looking to Ubiquity, Asus or even Google as an option. It is sad to see Netgear as a brand fall so far.
Really excellent app! all imported settings can set by the app, all the information (data, roaming evc.) is also available via app. The app is stable, easy to use and fast. Great work from netgear!
In general a good app, however, like others have stated below 1. Remember password doesn't work 2. Logs me out randomly 3. Tells me the nighthawk isn't a compatible router, then after a restart it's all good again 4. Seems these issues have been around for a while so despite being a large company I'm not holding my breath that these bugs will be fixed anytime soon. Personally I like the app overall, although trying to find things can be a little hit and miss
