NetGuard - no-root firewall

Did buy all above pro features, but they don't work. Not after cleaning cache, or reinstalling app. Edit: I love the idea of open source. But other apps I have purchased work out of box. And for me it is quite simple - either stuff works, or stuff don't work. Edit: After a while I got it to work. Later I saw that from my account there was no payment taken. The problem was with payment verification. And got it to work when I put the app in pop-up view, otherwise it would just cancel the payment.

The base functions are simple and easy to use. I liked the app enough that over a year ago I decided to support the developer and purchased all the extras that are available. I have not been disappointed! A few functions had a slight learning curve, but an afternoon was enough to learn everything I needed. -- I also recommend checking out the developer's GitHub. Great info on some tips and tricks that improve quality of life.

Coming from a person who treats privacy & security as high priorities, this looks to be the best endpoint security to be found on a traffic control front. No 'cloud feeding' for analytics, simple enough interface but not to the point of nerfed utility, and no absurd subscription model on top if it. The only wishlist item that comes to mind in the short tests I've done would be a direct rule admin panel to set some global baselines, but that would be a more niche need.

I just switched from Noroot firewall to netguard and everything working great for me except one thing. So in the VPN setting whenever I turn on Block connection without VPN, and try to access the internet through app with allowed network, it don't worry, the app is unable to access the internet even though it's allowed. So I had to keep my Block connection without VPN setting off. I don't know it's a bug or not but hope its get working. I'm using a xiaomi device.

Used to block apps from the internet. Don't want ads? Block the internet! Simple interface for easy setup, with advanced features for nerds! Pro features at reasonable prices! Must have for all phone users.

Netguard is nice if it's keeps running. But this is a big problem, regularly the apps stops working. So no blocking and even if it running it is not blocking everything. I installed glasswire and noticed that many apps that are blocked by netguard had access to the internet. I will have to find another app for blocking the internet.

Great for managing data whilst roaming. Can allow just messaging apps and Maps (if you turn on "Manage System apps" in advanced settings), so you can still communicate with friends and find your way around whilst traveling without incurring expensive roaming data charges.

Can't Wait To Try The Pro Version !!!! I Think I need a turorial , hopeful youtube ,...For some reason my Google Text Messaging App isnt sending ,.. is very slow or not working ,..and Google Chrome is Slow for load or Frozen....There must be a way I can adjust in settings. I have Verizon and Baseline Model Samsung ( Current /4g) Maybe Lack Of Memory Is Effecting Functionality. Truth is I enjoy this apps funtionality and it is Reallly High Tech and Cutting Edge. Thanks !!!!

Edit: Android 11 to keep NetGuard always on. Go to settings, then connections, then more connections settings, select VPN select configure knob to right, turn always on for NetGuard and it will always load with no issues..Edit If you have Kaspersky,go to settings and disable VPN and it will prevent the app from interfering with NetGuard.....

This has to be the best app to optimize your phone to run heavy games like genshin impact, especially on Samsung phones where that junk called "GOS" exists that needs to be turned off. I can not thank the developer enough for this app, just too good. Before using this I used to average around in genshin Impact was only 20fps, yes you heard it right, but after using this app and disabling GOS, Game Booster and Launcher, now I average somewhere close to 40fps, drastic improvement. Thank you again.

I purchased this app 2 years ago and it was worked before last update. After the last update, netguard stops any day any time. Lets hope it gets better in future update. Moreover those who try it for free may not feel the pain but people lile me who had put money in purchasing the features feels the heat. To support the developers only we buy the softwares. I hope the developer will understand this view point.

So far so good. App appears to stop apps you select from accessing wifi or the internet. I have only used it a few days now, and I even purchased the app. I'll update my review as time goes on. If it continues to function as advertised, then I will give it 5 stars.

I ordered Pro. I didn't get around to installing it right away. Marcel sent a email asking if I had any problems. Unbelievably amazing, someone who cares. Fantastic app by the way.

First run looked too complicated. . Took me a few attempts to get a handle on things but found it to be amazingly detailed. Many of them apps are wicked buggers so managing privacy has become complicated. The default settings are great. The notes and wizard through the setup is off the chart! That's what got my love. 👍 I still have to explore the app to fully customise it to my needs. So updates to follow.

This thing is awesome. Installed it on an e-ink tablet and the amount of apps that its stopped phoning home are incredible. I've set it to lockdown everything and only allow certain apps access and seems to work perfectly. Battery life doesn't seem to be affected. Worth having even for the free version. Paid to see the logs and wow, it's stopping hundreds of phone home requests every minute.

Absolutely essential for users on modern Android 11 phones that do not have root!! Not only does the app work as intended, but it properly applies settings to both WiFi and Carrier Data, separately! This keeps you from having to worry about streaming over data limits with prepaid carriers (EG: allow YouTube on WiFi, but deny while on carrier data). I did have a few questions about functions after I purchased the app, and I am impressed! Not only by speed of response, but by professionalism.

Netgaurd is not only good for privacy, but also useful for saving tons of mobile data, as you can restrict apps to Wi-Fi only. I've done that with all the streaming apps so I can only stream content through Wi-Fi. I like the fact it's also free and there's no ads. It even blocks ads in some apps, because they are denied access to the internet (it only blocks ads in some apps, not all). I wish more people were aware of Netgaurd, I highly recommend it! Great FOSS app to ensure privacy, save battery and reduce data usage. Allows disabling internet access for apps no matter of permissions, including system ones. A real gem from a brilliant developer. Purchased the pro version to support the product.

Very easy to handle firewall, great no-rooting solution. The only problem I've encountered is that I can't complete the "No battery optimisation" from within the app on my OnePlus Nord 2. When I do it outside of the app, NetGuard does not recognize that it's been done and the notification window for this setup step keeps popping up everytime I open the app (unless I permanently deactivate it manually).

Better use blockada slim paid version, it's a cumbersome task which we have to do manually. It's not a case of whether it's an open source project it's the complexity that the app has when a tech guy like I have no time to see which app needs network access and which doesn't, besides I am using blockada vpn which can't be used together. Fantastic with zero ads. I also like being able to capture .pcap. I simply export the .pcap files and view them from my PC. Easy!

Seems to do what it sets out to do. Also seems like DDG is either copying or working with the dev as their in-app system seems very similar to what you get here free, but this looks like it might have more options for paid version. Unfortunately as what I needed was behind paid version, I ended up setting up my own system to watch my outgoing connections instead.

Very useful app, especially for MI devices. I have been using it in default deny mode. The filter option is great too.

Very nice firewall app with a lot of good options. Only drawbacks seem to be that it is not possible to create custom filters for desired apps, say an app that should be allowed to access a specific IP & port range. NetGuard also appears to freeze to some extent in the background (no error messages) from time to time. The consequence is that suddenly the device has no no I tenet abscess. It can sometimes be remedied by disengaging and engaging NetGuard, but occasionally it's necessary to force close the app to get everything running again. A bit tedious when this happens. All in all a very good app though, and I definitely recommend it to anyone who wants to control their talkative apps. Update: Yes, filtering of IPs can be done, but not for ranges including ports as far as I can see.

This app has helped me go from using 500mb a month to 30mb. 94% reduction in unnecessary data usage! Not to mention the pro version is only $8.50 FOREVER. Such a helpful app for free and you pay pretty much nothing for extra features. Improvements could be a way to identify linked apps. When you disable or enable some of the apps access it applies to more than just that one because they are linked via the system. I mostly just want to know about it since you might not see it do that.

Every time I write one of these reviews something happens and it gets lost or erased, not to be recaptured. But fortunately some other reviewers said what I was trying say. It's a great App, efficient helpful, reliable with the ability to report it's findings back to you, and what it has done to eliminate all possible threats.
