Never Alone: Ki Edition

“Stunningly poignant
- and quite brilliant. 10/10.”
- Eurogamer
“Ki” is the Iñupiaq word for “Let’s Go!”, and now you can play the award-winning indie hit on the go with Never Alone: Ki Edition.

Never Alone (Kisima Ingitchuna) is an atmospheric puzzle platformer developed in collaboration with the Iñupiat, an Alaska Native people, drawn from a traditional story that has been shared across the generations. Experience the epic journey of Nuna and Fox as they search for the source of an eternal blizzard that threatens the survival of everything they have ever known.

Guide both characters as you trek through frozen tundra, leap across treacherous ice floes, swim through underwater caverns and face enemies both strange and familiar.

On over 75 "Best of 2014" lists and winner of "Best Debut Game" at the 2015 BAFTA Games Awards as well as "Game of the Year" and "Most Significant Impact" at the 2015 Games for Change Awards, nearly 40 Alaska Native elders, storytellers and community members contributed to the making of Never Alone.

You'll explore awe-inspiring environments, perform heroic deeds and meet legendary characters from Iñupiaq stories — all narrated by a master storyteller in the spoken Iñupiaq language.

Features

Reimagined for mobile -
- Never Alone: Ki Edition includes every level and all the excitement of the original game enjoyed by millions of PC and console players around the world. We’ve updated the game for mobile devices, adding brand-new touch controls, menus and hints along with optimized graphics and AI that bring the beauty of Never Alone’s ethereal, arctic environments to phones and tablets.

Play as both Nuna and Fox — switch between the two companions at any time as you rely on the unique skills of each character to succeed in your quest. Nuna can climb ladders and ropes, move heavy obstacles, and throw her bola at targets to solve puzzles. Fox can fit through small areas that Nuna can't reach, scramble up walls, and jump to great heights.

Explore the harsh world of the Arctic — run under, through, and atop the unstable structures of an abandoned coastal village. Explore the eerily quiet treetops of a mysterious, frozen forest. Brave the fierce winds of the eternal blizzard. Only with the aid of Helping Spirits will Nuna and Fox have any chance of survival in a land where survival seems impossible.

Unlock fascinating video insights — Elders, storytellers, and other members of the Alaska Native community share stories and wisdom about their culture, values and the amazing Arctic world encountered by players in over 30 minutes of interviews.

Customizable controls — Adjust the sensitivity or select an alternate layout for the game’s onscreen controls. For those who prefer a physical controller, the game also supports the leading bluetooth gamepads.

Support for 17 languages including French, German, Spanish, Russian and Portuguese.

A lovely game in terms of its art, story, and graphics, plus the cultural insights were nice to see. The puzzle design was alright, but the controls and collision boxes were janky, difficult, and unintuitive, which took a lot away from the experience for me and left me feeling frustrated rather than immersed.

OH MY GOD!!! This game is spectacular! It gives you a sense of worry, excitement, anger, sadness, and surprise all at the same time! It is so well developed and I really hope you guys make more games like this one! The ending, which really brings everything the girl and the fox spirit has done together in a beautiful circle and does make you cry that this game is finished. I enjoyed this game so much and I hope everyone does as well!

Horrible. On 'Whale Spirit', when i was supposed to swing on the spirit helpers arms, there was only *1* spirit helper. I've seen every playthrough of this chapter I found and on every single on there was TWO spirit helpers. Now i can NEVER EVER get past this level because of yalls damn mistake or whatever. I RESTARTED MY PHONE, EXITED THE GAME THEN RE-ENTERED, but still there was only ONE helper! I hope you FIX THIS SOON. No. I don't HOPE you do. You BETTER fix this game or I'll yEll...

Stunning game. A beautiful way to preserve a story and to learn more about a culture

I found this game challenging and rewarding. I watched the cultural insights on YouTube, uploaded by the user name Urr Turr. I live in Barrow and am Iñupiaq, so it was especially an honorable experience to learn and hear stories from people I wouldn't otherwise have been able to, given the new society we survive in.

It is a great app

I love the voice of the storyteller, love the motions of the animals, love it all so far. Only one thing bugs me: The exaggerated vignette effect, I understand why it is used (isolation, draw the player in) but I think a good vignette effect is evident without being so obvious. The visuals are beautiful, don't hide them to much!

Fun game, but laggy framerate and controls at times which leads to some frustrating platforming. Started noticing this especially in the whale area / swimming sequence. Using a Nexus 6p, and I would've thought that would be enough for this based on performance of other games with more complex visuals.

The controls are hard to use even on a 5 inch device, so be prepared to be interrupted constantly in your progress by bad steering of the game's two characters. This gets pretty frustrating by the end of the game. Other than that it's worth playing this small game as it explores the culture of the Inuit nicely and features astonishing graphics.

Sloppy controls make it nearly unplayable. Suicidal buddy AI keeps undoing my progress. Plenty of bugs. Requires an internet connection to watch the educational documentary videos which were the point of the game. Completed in less than 3 hours. Looks pretty, but I cannot recommend.

Maybe it's related to the device you play this game on, I use a GALAXY tab S2, but the controls are terrible when quick action is needed. Climbing walls etc has become frustrating and kills the fun of the otherwise nicely designed game. Graphics are it's strongest point.Perhaps a ps4 is a better choice to play it. Lowered score to 1 star, as you move further in the game it just gets worse to control the fox and girl. The fun should be to find out what to do, not to try 80+ times to make a jump before you succeed. Maybe it's not compatible with some 8 inch tablets.

Some sections are almost impossible to pass due, like the Whale Spirit level's swingrope.
