New Pit Boss Grills

Well I bought my KC Combo yesterday, and today I was excited to use the smoker. Which I did and it's really great, but the app does not work. After finally connecting it tell that it needs to update the Firmware. When it finally finished, it went right back into saying it had to update the Firmware. Very disappointed I was looking forward to monitoring the temperatures on my phone while using the smoker. This needs to be fixed asap.

Everything about the app. is slow. I also hate how there is no "back" button. Click on a recipe to look at and if you decide you want something else then you're forced to go through the whole menu search again rather then just hitting a "back" button that takes you to the list of recipes you were just looking at. If I hit the phones back button it will just closes the app. Create a "Back" button!

This app was useful for ordering items and looking up recipes, but.... When I purchased the new Lockhart, I was excited to use the SmokeIT via my phones Bluetooth. Well, it just doesn't work. It took several attempts to connect to the grill, and when it finally did, it just doesn't do what it's supposed to. The controller in my phone won't control the temp, instead, it glitches out and puts the grill at a random temp. It also won't show the correct grill probe temps. Please fix this!

Looks cool. But won't update, just keeps saying to stay on the screen while updating. (yes I hit the update above the progress bar). Left my screen on so it wouldn't time out. 2 hours later nothing. Have tried 4 different times. Spent a lot of money for it not to work. The smoker itself works good. This app blows.

App is very flakey and struggles to connect. It prefers to connect via bluetooth vs wifi but it very slow to do so. When using it with bluetooth, any adjustment to the grill causes a disconnect or crash. The useful thing about this concept of a connected grill/smoker is the ability to monitor temps. It should stay connected and have the ability to set alarms so you are notified when conditions are met. Given the lack of functionality and issues, I might as well walk to the smoker. It's faster.

Basic, with no added value! I've used this app for 5 mins and it's not useful. All my buddies with Rec Tec grills, Traeger, etc those apps are so advanced. I don't see a timer feature! You can't set up presets! The temp set button jumps around. Why do I have to use my phone app to set a timer for a grill that has a smart screen and a smart app? Just dumb!

Won't discover my grill. Tried several times and while it sees it's on Bluetooth to connect to, the it light continues to flash and app is still in discovery mode. Also you can't hit the back button to get out of discovery mode. The screen just blinks a fraction of a second and then it is back to trying to discover the PB pro grill but finding nothing.

Wish I had read the app reviews before I purchased. Perfect combo for me but was sold on the Bluetooth ability. Pellets failed to feed aa couple of times and would have been nice to have a functioning app and functionality as advertised. As much as I love cooking on this would not recommend. For the price, fully expected this to work! Would give zero stars if possible.

Update 7/4/2020 The lastest update 6/25/2020 at least allow me to connect to the grill and do some simple management of it. After starting the grill I was able to connect to it, monitor and manage temperature, power the grill down and turn on the light (although not able to turn the light off). I am raising this to three stars just for the fact that I can actually connect to it and manage it. However, the grill still will not connect to Wi-Fi from 50 feet away so no firmware updates.

Only good to view grill data. Controlling the grill is difficult. You can turn on the lights. You can view probe temperature. You are supposed to be able to set the grill box temp, but the single digital knob mimicking the real control is impossible to tune in a temp. Just physically turn the knob on the machine and use this to view/check in on the machine.

This app is eerily functional on my Samsung A20. I was expecting the worst having read the current reviews. I have to say I didn't have any of these issues. 2 issues that I have: it takes anywhere from 30 to 45 seconds to sync with the grill and this is even when your phone closes and you reopen the app. The next issue is that this only works within bluetooth range. I don't live in a castle so I thought I can go into the house and get some a/c. No can do.

This app is garbage. On an iPhone, this app works well, but on Android it does not work at all. The connectivity with my Lockhart smoker is junk. It is in a perpetual state of firmware update, and the interface does not work. It displays temp in 2 digit numbers only. Love my smoker, hate the app.

The app is horrible. You have to get a code sent to your email to create account. Once you leave the app to retrieve said code from email, it won't let you back in. Can't create a new account because its already been created, but can't log in because the email address hasn't been confirmed. Thank goodness they are good at making grills, because they absolutely suck at making apps.

Come in Pitt Boss, hire an app developer. Need to improve Wifi functionally in my Brand new smoker. I understood the app was basic, but the connectivity issues render it useless. I have to walk to the grill each time to re-establish connection, even if I don't move, but use another app on my phone. Please test this in real world environments and make the needed improvements. I don't have this experience with any other blue tooth device.

Bought a Pitboss Platinum 2 weeks ago. Attempted to connect the grill to the app and it worked for about 30 minutes. The bluetooth is useless on this grill because the app is absolutely horrible. I setup 3 different accounts and it still wont work. I get absolutely no response when hitting the grill on the app. I would rate the app a zero but I don't see a zero up here. Not sure why they would advertise it as bluetooth when it doesnt even work. If it's not fixed soon I'm returning mine!!!

Im new to the pellet grill game but as an eager consumer to use this to create the best dishes I think the app would be better with the following changes: 1. Allow us to have favorite recipes. 2. Have pellet suggestions as part of recipes or in general. 3. Make the recipes easier to read. The font is small and grey. The Brisket Stuffed Mushrooms is a pretty good model to follow.

It is a good concept just poorly executed. Every time I start the app it tells me I need to update firmware via bluetooth. Then app turns on wifi not bluetooth and grill will not connect to bluetooth even after pairing my phone or my tablet with it. This app needs a serious update. The app acts like a 2 year old throwing a tantrum. If I could give it no stars I would. Will not delete but hope for a good update.

Broken doesn't work. The app tries to load the website for the app and that site is completely offline and looks looks like it has both for a while. You should also know that if you email the developer contact for this app, it tells you it is not monitored and that you should email their customer support. Then when you email that it says that email is not monitored and you need to call in. Stupid run around. I'm not calling them as I bet they'll tell me to leave a voicemail (not monitored!!!)

This may not apply to you, but it does for me. I own a Pit Boss Lock Hart and this app was the only one available at time of purchase. Since then they put out an app named Smoke IT. Then they renamed that app to Smoke IT Legacy and made yet another app with the same name... Smoke IT. None of this was communicated with the app to let the user know of the horrible mess unfolding. This version of the app was extremely unreliable on Android for me. I was able to make use of the app on IOS and gave up using it on Android. I did make use of the Smoke IT app so I recommend you move on if you can.

This App does not work. It keeps asking for a firmware update. No matter how many times you update the App, it does the same thing. The "developer" needs to complete some MAJOR work. Ultimately, the App is very frustrating and really detracts from enjoying my Pit Boss grill. Shame on Pit Boss for falsely advertising that this App works with android.

Nothing shows up at all. Stays on a white screen then gives an error... tried to install it again and it's still the same... this is trash so don't waste your time!!!

The app is a screenscrape of their website. Not an actual app. Firmware updates EVERYTIME I open the app. No explanation of what the update actually does. This app needs to be able to notify my phone when my meat reaches temperature. Also need notification when the grill has an error, eg. My hopper ran out of pellets and I had no idea. Came out because the grill had dropped 200 degrees. Simple stuff here. Works better on iPhone but just barely.

Won't update the firmware. Keeps popping up to update the firmware. I log into my wifi, and it doesn't do anything. I know it is connected to the grill because I can turn off the grill with the app, but I can't turn it on, make any changes, or see my probe temperature.

This has to be the worst app I have ever used. Anytime you try to change temp it restarts. The KC Combo is great, it's a shame their using a app that sucks. Bit Boss, please hire someone that can fix this. ok now I used it a few more times it has turned off the smoker in the middle of a smoke, didnt catch it for a hour. also the kc combo has had auger fired twice even though I cooled down first at low temp. not very happy with pit boss

I didn't think the app could get worse, but with three latest update it won't even connect to my grill. Before it was annoying because it would always tell me I needed to upgrade, but at least I had full control of my Lockhart grill. Now I get nothing! Very frustrating!

App does not work. Tried 5-6 times to hit the grill icon to add the grill and the button did nothing. After 3 reinstalls of the app, I got that button to work , added the grill , from there the all just crashes over and over. This app needs a complete over haul. Doesn't even seem like they tested it

I would give this app 0 stars because it doesn't work at all. We paid $800 for our grill with the Bluetooth feature being a big selling point, but this app is useless. It keeps saying it needs to update, but never does anything. The developers really need to fix this issue. Very disappointed and irritated with whole experience.

Great concept that needs to be refined. Opens and will sometimes connect to the grill. Always says it is updating firmware but does not, just has a lot of bugs to get worked out. Please keep working on it and send the updates.

I spent an hour on updating the firmware. Everytime it gets to the end it just goes away. No sign of complete or not and then if you click back it tells you to update. I got it to turn grill off that is it. Not sure if I will try again or just delete. Very disappointing.

Need to have android 10 support. I have the note10+ on Android 10 and the app does not work at all. My wife's Samsung a50 with android 9 works flawlessly. There is a obvious problem here that needs to be solved. It does not actually connect to the grill. Its just stuck in the discovering process. Even though grill is on and being used. Model is the lockhart. As of 7/18 new firmware update keeps shutting the lockhart off randomly.
