New Words With Friends

The app gives a clear advantage to one person over the other. I have opponents where the app always sets me up with great letters to make 7-letter words and great opportunities, and then I have opponents where I'm always getting screwed and they're always getting 7-letter words and I can't make any. On the games where I'm getting screwed, I've tried switching out my letters, but it doesn't make a difference. It's like the algorithm is set to make sure my opponent has the clear advantage.

5 stars for the game because I love it. 2 stars because the app is awful. I'm now getting ads in the middle of a turn, rather than the end. The animations and advertisements are so frequent and time-consuming that the actual enjoyment of playing the game is impacted. A $12 monthly subscription is not practical for a simple board game. Additionally, the app is glitchy. The dev crew needs to step up their game and correct the glitches (might help if they'd lessen the ads and animations).

This app can be challenging, fun, and enjoyable. Special features are great, but QuickPlay has become increasingly frustrating and disappointing, to the point of being ridiculous! Most times with 1 game earned, it freezes and is lost. Nearly 2 hours are wasted trying to be competitive on the Leaderboard. Almost always the first of 2 maximum earned games freezes. Occasionally both are wasted. Why??!! Recently for a short time, when 5 maximum accumulated, at least 2-3 games could played!!

You'll get an ad after EVERY SINGLE PLAY. UGH. No thanks for the old "pay us to play ad free" routine. I get that you all are in this to make money, but come on. An ad after every play which you have to click not once, but twice to get rid of. Some of the ads take forever to load. No thanks. I've deleted the ap. UPDATE. Haven't played in a year. I logged back in and the ads are actually worse than before. 4 ads to play twice.

Played this for years...I have free play without ads, I have no idea how many years ago I paid a whole buck for that, just to signify how long I have played. I like the game, but the recent issues with game play have made me consider dropping after more than a decade. Games that do not register they were played, issues with frozen repeat games, and increasingly obvious attempts to get me to watch ad videos are getting to be too much. I find myself more frustrated with this game than happy.

The ads are horrendous. They offer $16 for 15 days of no ads... this game is not that special to warrant the extremely cost. Maybe .99 would hook me in. I like to play but I will always put up with the ads. I just look away or fade out until it's over. But holy mother there are more ads in this game in one day then I see in a month. There is almost an ad after every single move. Once in a while it will skip. Woot. Play at your own risk of insanity from the ads.

I used to really enjoy this game. But they've gotten very stingy with the rewards, and the constant interruptions with messages I don't care about is irritating. I don't care that I have a 1 day streak! I paid to not get ads, but I'm still constantly interrupted to ask me to upgrade. I'm down to only 2 people I play against and that is a challenge.

I love Words with Friends and I really want to love this one too. However, there are SO MANY Ads!! It really slows down game play. Also, the game often freezes and sometimes the gaming app will just close itself out. It is extremely frustrating! Edited Update: I was really liking this game, but now it won't even open. It gets stuck on the loading page. Unable to playy moves for a few days now. 🙄☹️ I wish the app worked correctly.

The App has not let me play for about 2 weeks. I can accept and play my first initial move after that it stops...if I invite someone to play it goes throught the motions then the new game disappears. All my friends keep asking what's going on and I have no answers. I have uninstalled and reinstalled multiple times with no luck. I have played this game for years...but this is very frustrating and annoying.

Absolutely Horrendous From the ads that pop up in between every other screen, to the nonstop notifications about games with people you don't even want to play with, this app is absolute trash. The user interface is cluttered and a true pain to navigate. Every inch of this app is designed to cram ads down your throat or to try and get you to spend money with no concern for the actual user experience.

I love this game, and I spend a lot of time playing it. The actual time that you can challenge and be challenged is very stimulating. But I HATE the proliferation of ads. Every.single.move.results.in.an ad. Sometimes you must wait through ads that are 30 seconds long... Time after time after time. Some of the ads will "hold" you captive and lack a clear path for disengaging, so you must claw your way free! Very, very frustrating!

the game is fun but the interface and design of some things can be a problem. For example: When matched with new people they are automatically added to my friends list and can't be deleted. Resigning and suffering a loss is the only way to exit from a game (but there's like 5 unnoticed ways to enter a game so mistakes are made but it feels punishing). ADs are always at the top of the main menu taking up 50% of the screen space. etc.

My #1 issue is that the app is slow. It is slow when loading to open, and slow to move between plays etc. Also, there are all sorts of side games that I'm NOT interested in playing (like solo challenge) but I can't get them out of my way and I almost always end up opening them. Also, there are a lot of ridiculous prizes, frames, decorations, etc that make me feel like I'm in Jr. high that I'd just as soon never have to see. But oh, well. 🙄

I paid for the ad free version years ago. Recently there was an overhaul on the mini games. First they reduced the daily word play moves by one thereby making it much more likely you'll need to watch an ad to finish the entire thing. After that they changed the solo challenge to the point where I don't even try to finish the complete ladder. Where I used to spend coin and watch ads to complete the solo challenge, I now don't care if I complete it or not. Caused me to watch far less ads.

Overall it's fun game, i can deal with the ads, and i use the ads to get more tickets to play the mini game against the computer for extra coins, but every time an ad plays during a regular game.... never fails. Works every time. For the last week I've been trying to get extra tickets and it kicks me out and won't play the ad to help me, only during my regular game. This bug needs to be fixed. There needs to be less ads during normal game play with people, for those that watch ads to get bonus.

Restarts often. Slow. Can't view in-progress Tiles anymore... just sits and spins. Running latest version. When it does work, you have to sit through 10-20 seconds of ad video after each play. Dictionary is a joke. Valid English words are not in it, yet non-English are valid! That's not even the worst part. 50/50 chance of whether the close ad button works. Sometimes it launches another app. Sometimes it does nothing at all, which means I have to manually force the app to close and relaunch it.

I have been playing this game for 10 years. But in the last year or two, it has deteriorated significantly. It seems with each whiz enhancement, five bugs pop up. You still can't collect rewards on the rewards page with the little jumping treasure chest. Today my next games list is shifted to the top and obscures the game I just finished playing. It is difficult to collect Rewards properly, mini games are bug ridden and get stuck in Loops or throw you out. You broke the basics!! QA is asleep!

I've been using this app for several years and bought the ad-free version, but lately I'm aggravated all the time wanting me to upgrade and making me watch videos in order to play solo challenge. And solo challenge is now too much to complete in a week. I don't know where they find some of these words but I'm pretty sure they're not English. Seriously considering changing apps.

I recently installed this to play the game with a friend. It was okay. I endured the ads. The same is true for the scrabble version I play with another friend. However, an ad was placed at the startup for which there was no exit provided. I had to go through multiple screens to find my way out of it. After I finish my current games I am uninstalling this. It's not worth the waste of even more time on these un-exitable ads.

It's just so greedy. This app is filled with ads. Like a crazy amount of ads. You can't even buy an ad free version, instead they have an option to pay $10 for it to be ad free for 30 days. On top of that it gives a ton of notifications because they want you to see more ads. I'd be fine with a reasonable amount of ads or a one time purchase to remove ads, but this is miserable. The worst part is it's well made other then the insane monitization

For all Solo games (against computer) you spend more time watching an ad than playing. I get the need for ads, but I'm here to PLAY. That's not the case here. Probably deleting. ADDED 5/18. The Menus are absolutely incomprehensible. I just spent 5 minutes looking for "lightening round" and can't find it. Is it gone? Or is everything just messed up even more. Navigating is impossible. You are trying to promote so many things that nobody can figure out exactly WHAT game options are available.

Good game. Too many ads. Too many extra features that interrupt. Edit:Gave it another chance as it's a good game, but hated it right away. Too many long, intrusive ads, really steep weekly price to remove ads and still the interrupting features. Uninstalling now and won't try it again. Worst ads possible that I have ever seen in an app.

Update: now I can't get things from the new renaissance rewards. I keep earning the green coins, but when I try to purchase collection items, it keeps bringing me back to the forest collection. I tried uninstalling and reinstalling but that did not work. Boo. Super fun game. Lots of ads, but not the worst I've seen.

I fully understand why ads are a thing, but the amount of ads for the 'free' version (i.e you haven't paid for a package to remove ads) is utterly ridiculous. After making a move I'm also met with a white box that says 'loading' for a solid 10 seconds. The ads are so bad I just close the app and reopen after making a move.

I paid for the ad free / premium version of this app a long time ago; however, the constant annoying full screen pop-ups regarding linking Facebook and/ or trying out the rewards pass are just as bad or worse than ads. You need to stop this or at least allow the option to turn off these prompts that I will never agree to. It makes dealing with the app almost unbearable. Stop trying to force this ridiculous rewards pass on us, especially those of us who have already paid not to see ads.
