This app is good. it really is. a few errors here and there, but no big deal. the problem is, aggressive hostage taking advertisements ruin this app. Not worth it. There are proper ways to advertise on free apps, and then there are ways to repel your potential paying customers for good. Unfortunately, this marketing team has chosen the latter. Also, none of the ads were ever properly matched to my tastes/preferences, so not only are they annoying, but also completely ineffective. I uninstalled and am using another one. less effective interface, but NO INTRUSIVE ADS.
this app. is a good starting idea, but for 5$ it should show a lot more when it comes to pointing out what subway car & which door to stand by when exiting the station or when transferring to another train. at most, all it does at the subway stops & exits it just give a very vague description on where to go. less than a handful of station give some direction, & very little at that. this app. needs much improvement. if the developers can find it, look for 'Exit Strategy as a great template.
What happened? This used to be my go to app when traveling. I would easily be able to give someone direction even if I didn't know where they were going. Now I have to wait for it to load, and I'm usually already on the train to figure out where I'm going. Edit The ads only come on when you are connected to data (wifi). If you are underground just turn it off to get what you need faster if you are in a hurry. It still works fine offline which is its best feature in my opinion. Not perfect 4.5
The only value of having a separate app for the subway map (in addition to Citymapper, Google Maps, etc.) is for those last-second checks to verify that the train you're about to take is stopping in the place you need, especially in light of service changes, etc. That value is nullified by the forced ads this app inserts, which prevent you from seeing the info you need until that approaching train you needed to board is already leaving the station.
This app has been completely unresponsive for weeks now. Used to be very helpful in getting up-to-the-minute train status. As another user posted yesterday, now it just freezes upon opening. The ads were also extremely intrusive, but I guess it doesn't matter, since the app doesn't work anymore. Will just use the official MTA app now.
Great help for the Metro Riders. try to update your Apps with Live and Current Metro activities....you already have the system emplacement on the M Trains, just Stream it to this Apps.
The app is helpful. A few errors here and there, but it comes to handy. However, the ads are annoying, only used it in airplane mode to avoid the ads.
Obnoxious Ads. Worst ad experience ever. Full screen pop up after a few seconds of opening app and no way to close it until a timer finishes or an X shows up eventually. Then another pop up to sell the ad-free app. Look for another app to prevent wasting your time.
Pops open the map immediately so I can see the stops and doesn't require Wi-Fi. Getting the average time between stops does, but it also gives you the upcoming train, so that is helpful. Over all, best $5 I've spent since moving to the city.
Everytime I open this app, it popups an ad, which can be exited only after 15 seconds. There r times when a train is approaching and I need to check the map real quick, but each time I have to wait for an ad or a loud video for 15 seconds, thereby missing the train
Had this app for years and it was fine. Like other reviews have mentioned, the ads have gotten ridiculous. Looking at the map when boom, unclosable full screen app appears. It's a delete for me.
Ads are terrible. I hate that it takes up the whole screen so that if you need to see the map or something real quick you can't. If they must use ads why not put it in a lil box at the bottom of the screen.
Used to be free. Now they keep asking for money and show ads when the app is open. People who use this app are in a hurry. Waiting for ads to close result in missed train and stops! I'm waiting for the train right now with TONS of people on the platform and with no trains arriving. Know what the service status says in the app for my line??? "Good service." Thank you MTA.
12 second video ads? Come on. When I'm trying to make a split second decision to take the local or the express, I do not have time to watch a video ad! Just put a static image ad on the bottom of the screen like everyone else.
Way too many adds. I would've easily paid a dollar or 2 for a version without ads. This current format doesn't work out well for new yorkers doing last minute subway transfers. It's just too slow.
The map is great, but the ads - and how difficult they are to close - are AWFUL. They completely nullify the experience of getting HELP from a map; they HINDER it instead. A real disappointment, thumbs down.
The ads in this app are hugely disruptive. I have actually missed a train because of this app. I've been using it for years with no problems but now will need a replacement. Uninstalling now. Also why does this app need to report user data or download videos ads??
Honestly it's easier to just use Google maps to get around, way too many ads while trying to map out your destination. Don't bother wasting time or storage space for this app.
Really annoying ads, if I use your public transportation system why should I have to view ads and make you revenue when I paid to use your system. The app should come free, but unfortunately this isn't a perfect world. Now they want you to sign up for vip service to avoid ads, pathetic.
Good app, but the annoying commercials forced me to uninstall it. Be careful if your phone plan has limited data, they force you to watch video commercials, get an official MTA app, it works great without crazy commercials every 5 seconds.
Ad-ridden piece of garbage. Check out Moscow Metro app if you want to see how a subway app should look like.
very usefull. the adds that pop up can be bothersome, but they close and theres the option to upgrade. either way I have had this app for a very long time, eveb as Ive chabged phones I always go bsck to thid train line map. good stuff 👍🏽
Very helpful and comprehensive app. I appreciate the simple, pared-down design - my only issue is with the thin white border that persists at the top of the MTA subway map.
I was looking for a detailed listing for both bus and train mapping application. The print is way too small, cannot get a more detailed maps for either.
This is an excellent an useful app. I am a lifelong NYC resident (near retirement age) and I use this app daily. It works offline so you always have your travel information at your fingertips. Service warnings are issued directly to you in real time. Cant beat that.
Good features, but it shows back to back non-skippable pop-ups every time you use the app. I can't sit through 15 second of ads every time I want to quickly look up directions
