New Zealand Regions App

This simple and easy to use app displays essential data on New Zealand's regions. Use it to find out a region's average household income, average rent, or average house price. See the trends between your region and New Zealand, or select other regions and see how they're doing.
The data is displayed in attractive charts or key figures divided into eight main themes all displayed against a background of beautiful New Zealand scenery. the wealth of information and user-friendly navigation makes it a joy to explore what's happening regionally in incomes, housing, workforce, education, population, and the economy, with special attention to agriculture and tourism.

The new app fully supplants the old one and has been made specifically for the smartphone platform. Data in the new app will be updated regularly.

I love New Zealand Since I am from the Cook Islands, it is a small island as far as I know, we speak Maori, but my country is different, it is Maori from the Cook Islands. costs money is it? not yours just know that the app is cool, i don't even remember going to that country but the closest flight is from new zealand and i love this country mainly to Auckland, that's why i downloaded.

The app is a mix of modern art and infotainment - smoothly designed, something to admire, beautiful info-graphics,... probably not intended to be used or serve a purpose other than to raise the country's and the Ministry's profile.

Great app. Simple, well organised, thought provoking stuff. I'd love the ability to compare to metrics across regions, for example, to flag worker turnover year-on-year, and GDP year on year, and view them on a twin axis graph for my region. Well done MBIE. A great example of a provocative Dashboard done well. Enjoy chortling at the person suggesting you should send this out as a PDF. My guess is you probably fired him a few months back.

This is an example of a app that could have been realised with a responsive website.

200000 for this. Was this tendered out to find the best price. What a waste of Tax payer money. Just because you are given a budget does not mean you need too spend it. Hang your head in shame MBIE. If your department needs some training in how to release this info for cheap by publishing it in PDF format feel free to get in touch.

Given that the app is based on regions, It would be useful to incorporate maps within this app, I was surprised there weren't any, given the icon, which I assumed were the aggregator areas used for the statistics. I found the app frustrating to use, although the info is there, in its current format, its not at all easy to digest. There are tools available from Esri that will allow you to make an app like this as a map based app, OOTB, no coding and publish to both play and istores. Worth taking a look.

$200 thousand for this and the website version is better. Holy crap, I'm going to release a better version in my own spare time for free that cost me $0 to make. You should be ashamed. Edit: Your response completely ignores the fact that this app does not cost $200 thousand dollars to make.

Would love to be able to drill down within a region. Eg otago has huge tourist guest nights. But lots of that will be Queenstown. What is Dunedin doing for example.

Does what it says once you've read all data that's it till the next census as far as updates go as all data seems to be taken from census. Is it worth $200k of tax payers money , no.

Pointless app. Not designed for Marshmallow, has in app updates rather than using the store.

It would be nice to have a way to compare two regions side by side.
