Update: user interface is getting better. I still get the impression the charge points are not entirely up to date. It's okay for the Netherlands, bit in other countries this app misses about half the available charging points and some of the points on the app aren't publicly available. Not good when you're counting on a decent charge with only 30 km in the battery. Still, it appears to be one of the best out there, as far as I can tell.
The app and site have a lot of issues. Can't seem to delete old payment methods, which leaves a clutter and is a privacy problem. Automatic debit payment doesn't work. I get second reminders, but no first reminders for unpaid bills. Payments should be deducted from my bank account automatically, but I have to pay manually each time. Visa cards not supported.
The app was a lot better when it was NewMotion. It keeps on placing me in the UK even do I am in the Netherlands. With Newmotion you could how long you had been charging the car, now it no longer shows this. So I am now looking for a new app but unfortunately they all seem to link to one service provider only. To have 5 of 6 apps does not make any sense.
Still doesn't support timed charging despite the previous Newmotion app being capable of doing this for the last year and a half. With rising energy costs this is an absolute must have feature.
Took card details every time I tried to use a charger, started charging, started taking money - but NO charge went into our car! Absolute pig of a system to use so I've uninstalled and won't be using their charge points again until its a simple tap to pay system - like they all should soon be. Embarrassingly clunky and archaic implementation of technology.
Interface is okay, but in Belgium the information is flat out wrong. Also doesn't show nearly as many chargepoints as other apps. I'm just gonna be using Google Maps.
Why the Shell Recharge application doesn't show charging points sometimes? When I check area of my destination for the first time it shows chargers, but when I arrive there it cannot find anything. So unreliable.
The app's fine. The reliability of the chargers is absolutely unacceptable. Towcester and High Wycombe have been out of service for months, along with ~30% of the network according to Zapmap. If you're serious about this business, Shell, it has to improve.
Registered and received a charge card through the post but keep getting an error message when trying to activate the card via the app. Rang the 24/7 helpline and hung up after waiting over an hour to try and get through. Not a great experience at all.
App generally works for the intended use, but has a number of annoying features: 1. Shows chargers as available that are out of service (my car navigation shows the status correctly) 2. Opening screen shows 1000s chargers in a 300km radius rather than area nearby 3. Charger & status only appears after moving the map and status update is generally slow 4. Frequent log out of account 5. Some stations with two charging points show as separate stations with overlapping icons
Email verification link does not work. Not possible to register for app. Direct payment option doesn't work or charge points out of service. Pretty useless.
Joke need a physical card posted before you can use chargers i will just leave my car in the park car park then while i get the train home wait a week for card to arrive then get train back to car park and charge. It says you can charge without app on the charger but there is no qr code so thats not possible massive let down.
Took forever to sign up. Then neither charge point exists, driving pointlessly around an unfamiliar city looking for chargers which aren't there. Poor poor job shell, never using again
Very poorly thought out. You have to do a direct bank payment in order to charge!!... What the heck? How old fashioned are you guys? Everyone else can use debit or credit cards, you guys are stuck doing direct bank transfer? No way,not only is the app MORE expensive than using an SMS, but you want direct access to my bank account.... Get with it!!
Horrible experience. I am about o e hour with my cable plugged and I can't take it out. I tried calling all numbers, nobody is available and I still can't unplug my cable from the charger. Plus it didn't charge. It has already taken 30 euros from my account as fee and I am losing money and time.
250000 chargers across Europe. Plan your route across Europe. In which reality. Nowhere to input start of journey, nowhere to input your destination. Makes you think it is a copy and paste of a beginners app with the logos changed
why it requires the card? I installed the app, set up everything, but can't charge my car... moreover, there is no qr-scan available, I need to search manualy.
Seems impossible to change or delete payment cards on the app. Why and why are you sending me bills instead of using card?!
For Belgium: shows many private charging points with no option to filter private/public (the website of the Flemish government does this really well but has no app), there is no option to plan a route and find charging points along route. Still a long way to go before this actually becomes handy and user-friendly. On the bright side: great customer service, fast and friendly, wish I could give a separate 5 star review for that.
crashes within one second after i tap on the icon on the phone. ..... No change nearly 4 months after first feedback I gave. Still cannot use this network chargers. Who cares? Who is willing to fix the problem?
The ongoing recharge session is either lost or retained even after plugging out. Sometimes after starting charge as well I see the slot being available. It is not stable with all providers
Great app to find local charge points. However, due to the way Newmotion handles all charge points equally, some chargepoints are on private property or even fenced! So if you rely on the charge point then also check Google Maps for the situation. Maybe Newmotion could add a 'on private property' checkbox so users can see? That could save a lot of frustration...
Total let down 1. no clear way of identifying which charge unit is which 2. No clearly visible contact no to call if there is an issue 3. App would not accept our payment method 4. Appalling user interface 5. No answer from the call center after waiting over 15 mins 6. Placement of ev charge units is a joke (Southampton Grosvenor Square concrete pilar blocking drivers door) But I doubt the developers of this app will even take notice or care they seldom do As far as they to care job done
Mostly app is working good. But payment method isn't comfortable. Could you please add bank cards payment method? Pay after finishing change? Not accumulate payment for a month? Like in regular gas station? Because of this I better choose go to Circle K instead of Shell, event Shell charging is closer to my living place.
Very poor app unable to access verifying email is not working so unable confirm account and can't use charger
It woukd be a good app if not for bugs and missing important functions. After each app update the login credentials are deleted. A lot of the points are not displaying on the map, but are available in the list view. Cannot see which charger point the car is currently connected to and when the charging started.
I am not going to update anymore. Every update "forgets" my account credentials. Forcing me to sign in again, and again, every update, to use the app properly. What annoys me is that the app hasn't actually forgotten my account. I still get a notification when I plug in from the app. While there is no account logged in... The app itself has made some progress and is useful in the Netherlands. Just don't update it and you can use it to find nearby charge stations and look at your sessions.
