News 9 Weather

Tired of long ads popping up every time I try to watch the weather! The worst time this happened was right after I got a tornado warning for my area. It was late at night and I had been sleeping, I tried to tune into the live feed since I dont have TV but all I could see were ads. The tornado alarms were going off nearby but not the ones by me. I had no idea what to expect or when to expect it. Obviously I did go into shelter, but that not knowing was unacceptable. At least put an ad free option

This app has improved tremendously over the years that I've used it which totals about 4 I believe. It is now fairly glitch-free, reasonably easy-to-use, and notifies for updates regularly. However when I go to the Google App Store as it instructs, information comes up about the update but it never tells me whether I have or have not updated it as there's no option to tell it update. It's may be occurring when you go into the store, but I have no way of knowing! Kind of really frustrating!

I'm not a fan of the updated version. The weather info is more difficult to find and the notifications don't work right. If I get a weather alert notification, when I click it I should be taken to the alert page, not the front page and have to go find it. The forecasts seen to have less info now. Just all around disappointed in the new version, so I'll be uninstalling.

This app is a downgrade in the way of information. I found the convective outlooks very useful in the past version and was what differentiated it from all the others. I am also getting A LOT of blank notifications from the app since the new version was released. I do like how the app more closely follows news 9's weather forecasting in the hourly & daily sections.

BRING THE OLD APP BACK! Notifications are completely a mess. The old app would sound an alert and then a voice description of the alert. I'm not sure what sound (if any) alerts you to severe weather. 4/29 Update: It appears nothing is being done to correct the issues this app has. I am now using one of the competitors app.

Can you add an option to turn off lightning alerts, or choose which alerts one is notified about? I only have this app for my mother's safety since I don't live in OKC, and mostly want to be notified of tornado warnings so that I can let her know to take cover, if necessary. Otherwise, I really like the UI of the app, especially the ability to watch live streaming footage. I also know that I can trust what this locally-owned news station states and shares. The meteorologists are the best!

Good for radar and the likes, but you can't fine tune the notifications or alerts. I can see how notifications for lighting could help some people, but I don't need to be warned about it 8 times a day. The app kinda drains your battery in the background as well.

Excellent app! All the info I need/want easy to read. Looks good, with nice Oklahoma-looking weather pics. The actual News9 forecast, unlike their old app. But the dang thing shuts down. At first it was every time they issued a warning. Now its real frequent that it just won't open. I hope they can get it fixed, I don't see anything in the app store that I like. . . . Update! Finally it is back to the app that I know and love. I still miss Gary England, but at least I can get a good radar pic here!

This app doesn't send sound alerts for me anymore. I need something that will alert me if I'm busy or asleep with a sound. I can't find ways to personalize information for severe weather, which is kinda the whole point of an app. Hugely dissapointed. 😞 I hope to change this review soon.

App keeps crashing and I do not like that I don't get the same alerts from the National Weather Service anymore. Any alerts I get now are the same notifications as an email or text, etc. It does not stand out since no voice talking through the warning. Please change it back! Do not like the warning notifications now!

I have always been a follower of news 9 weather. But this app really needs some work . The hourly forecast has been wrong so many many times , example it shows to be 38 right now and warming quickly. The actual temperature is 28 . 🤔 I do not expect a 100% magical forecast. But dang at least adjust it so that what you are forecasting is at least somewhat accurate

Consistently wrong! Tried this app over 1 year ago, deleted it for lack of accuracy along with multiple glitches in maps. Not worth having! Whom ever is responsible for hour to hour updates is certainly there just for the salary. Ad's are the only thing that's consistent..

This used to be a great app before they removed the live stream of the weather when it got bad, changed the radar so now you cant show circulation of tornados on it. The old app used to have some irritating issues but it had a lot of good features. I will update the review as it changes.

The new update is awful. I can't get past the initial screen when I open it, notifications are blank as well. As an Oklahoma resident, I rely on fast, accurate weather especially this time of year. This does nothing.

The version before this was quicker, this is just like AT weather app, I would have stayed over there if I wanted slow like everybody else app, the version before this was different than everybody else, it was all good ,now I don't know, I've had the force close this version ever time i use it to get it 2 open ,then it slow, Oreo 8.0.0 has 2 slow down 4 it. it's a really good day and you have one! Is this the Beta version ? unistalling to much hassle to get it to work

This app is great. I have had it fail a few times but I really don't think i can blame the app for the last time. It was during a bad storm and I think it just got overloaded. It has yet to do that again. But I always run 2 or 3 radar apps because this happens. All and all it's simple to use very accurate radar and looks esthetically pleasing.

Had to give a one star, if possible, I would would give ZERO (0) stars. App goes on continual alerts, will drain the phone battery within 6 hours. I have turned off every feature, restricted background data, uninstalled, reinstalled, I tried to contact the feedback line, in JUNE,(this is AUG 17,2020), and no response. I have tried looking to forum boards to resolve this issue, but to no avail. To wrap it together, Updated app sends alerts on temp changes, even with temp bar off. Continually eats up battery power, and forces to recharge 2 to 3 times a day. When app is removed, my battery life goes back 24 hours plus. Will look to other apps for weather service

App took some time to install and work. (3 or 4 days) app worked great for several months. Then the 9 disappeared and i couldnt reset. No info at all. I could open it in play store. So today i uninstalled and will reinstall. It said it was updated 10/8. I think thats when it stopped working. I cant get news on 9. Is it available? 9 widget not on screen. News 9 okc is my favorite.

Good app but drains battery in background. uses more battery % than android system even when the app is closed. Up to 20 or 30% in a day without ever opening the app. Weather channel app uses less than a third as much battery as this app in the background. I like the features of this app better and info is local so I might keep it for tornado season then it's gone unless the background battery consumption is fixed. I may try restricting it in the background but might defeat the app's purpose.
