It's just OK. It probably would be a nice app if they removed the ads it just makes everything feel cluttered and it's not an enjoyable reading experience. Otherwise it seems to run well and do what it's supposed to without issue.
Update. This app has become unusable! Freezes and crashes. Can't read news articles because of this. Updated my phone yesterday as Sony told me there was a new update available, since then all my news feeds apart from a few say they are offline!? Even updated the news app, and still the same problem! Is this the Sony phone update, or the news app at fault?
Recent update makes it unusable on my phone. Since September the "local news" tab was stuck on the same artices but other than that I really liked this app. Shame it's useless now. Deleting.
I can't believe it's Sony! It's all over the place. The default news sources are gutter press: sports, women and low-brow politics. It's over run by adverts and it's a nightmare to navigate. There's no filter option and it lacks any serious customisation options. Visually, it could do with a higher definition appearance, too.
I opened this app (for the first time in a while) after updating it just now. Immediately I realised why I don't use it anymore, because of the overwhelming amount of bloody ads! Despite the interesting news topics that you have access to it's so difficult to differentiate between the news itself and the advertising.
This App brings you an excellent way of learning about the things that are happening in the world, be it from a quick read in the push notifications on your phone or entering the App to read more about a specific newsletter. The ability of the App to have a personalized news tabs are great too, because you can keep in touch with the news that interests you the most.
Very user friendly and useful. Easy to navigate and has convenient news tabs like covid, tech, women etc
After the Oct 7 update this app is now less crashy and less laggy. All this while using this app has been a frustrating experience but I had no choice since I rely on it to get news from Japan. Good thing that it gets better now. I guess Sony has figured out how to make the app more efficient. Hopefully it will continue to improve from here on.
It works fine, but sticks up clickbait headlines for current TV and film, meaning you can see a spoiler without opening the news article. I've had the Bond ending spoiled in a 'news' headline and now they've done Peaky Blinders! Delete/Disable if you enjoy film or TV.
This app was installed along with updates onto my Xperia 10 Plus. It started to send me notifications that I didn't want and ignored, and unfortunately hadn't had time to disable in the settings. Just now, the app sent me a notification which spoiled the newest episode of Game of Thrones only a few hours after it aired. I was about to watch it. This is unforgivable.
Just as anything from sony i expect the best i am currently running this app on my sony expera zx premium and everything is working just fine ..this app has an attractive and easy to use interface lots of news coverage from world..science ..art..etc and i find it has a regular update system so that the news stays current !. It serves my purpose very well and i find that i don't really need to look elsewhere as i have everything i need in this one app..thank you sony and keep up the good work ..
Too cluttered, too much space for pictures, not enough for text. And ads look deceptively like articles - you have to look hard to see the difference. This seems deliberate to generate more clicks, but it's deception and the main reason I am uninstalling.
I have been using it for a long time, and certainly like it, however, the ads... They are getting quite annoying. I would be great if there was a way to remove them, like a paid version, or whatever. It would also be nice to sync it in between devices, but since there is no account required to use it, I can understand some limitations.
If you only read the Independent, Guardian, Evening Standard, Canary, or any other news source with the same political leaning, then this is the app for you. If you'd rather not live in a bubble, and prefer a more balanced assortment of news sources, then go elsewhere. There's no way to easily edit preferences (that I know of), hence the 1 star.
Useful. You can reach different news from many media, so you have various journalistic writing and contrasting point of views. Furthermore, we can get quickly overwhelmed with some certains news apps notifications. But instead of that, News Suite provide informations, drop by drop, all along the day. Beyond compare. PERIOD.✍️
Can't move beyond Privacy notice. Accept button flashes on screen for less time than anyone could tap it, before disappearing. I was just left with screen filling privacy notice, with no means of closing it. After several app restarts and uninstalling/reinstalling, I gave up.
Useful and practical application which allows to read most of the interesting news at one place. However as a cons I would say that is missing "Copy" button when user for example wants to move a link somewhere else, not directly to the app. Also if should be considered to put more media as a source of the news.
Really disappointed and surprised by the quality of this app. Sounds like all of the news apps out there but the range of sources are woeful and offer subscription only. Clunky layout and design don't help either. And it can't be uninstalled.
This app use to be fantastic. Now it's so flooded with advertising that half the screen is covered or some ads don't load properly. It even overloads itself and ads make it stop working and the app closes. Poor form from developers here. Definitely needs to be fixed.
Ihave been using it for 3 years. It occupies internal memory. After I cleaned data, the app restored settings to another geographic zone. Selecting the favorite country does not have effect on the feeds and the interface. I need to delete it. It contains tonnes of click bait advertising
A very useful app. Alerting you to developments in a wide range of interests. Sometimes the headlines are misleading, but this is more the fault of the news source. The adverts can be distracting but overall this app keeps you up to date with the latest news.
The app appears to use 'The Mirror' as one of its primary news sources. In my opinion, The Mirror is a terrible, sensationalist tabloid 'journal' and if you continue to feed me their sensationalist, scaremongering bile, I will simply delete your app. There is no shortage of news and current affairs apps on the market and I am perfectly capable of choosing the sources I trust without relying on app developers to do that for me! Thank you.
